That is flat out wrong and misleading. Even a quick scan of random pages will turn up posts reporting a variety scams being run by callers from this number. For 14 years, calls from this number can not be trusted. Trust is not on a spectrum.

All your Technology based and Double-Talk explanations do not change that if you are insisting that calls from this or any number used for scamming are legit, you are shilling. Shill posts get reported.

Thanks for confirming that you have been spamming under a variety of names. Spamming is enough to get your swill reported and removed under site ToS.

So what scam messages have you had from this number? I suspect same as me = none  Most people posting about this number moan because it keeps calling their landline, cuts out when their answer phone cuts in, and assume it's a scam.

This number is owned and operated by BT as their text to landline audio translation and relay service. A google search of this number will confirm this comment.  If a text is sent to a non-text enabled landline, this service is one of several that will intercept it, translate it into audio (if it can) and relay it it on.

I have NEVER said this number is 100% safe. It is incorrect to suggest otherwise. It is also a laughable libel to suggest I am part of some scam operation and am surprised that this has not been removed by the moderators. BUT I am more than happy for this post to remain. It says it all!! I always attempt to explain how to pick out any scammers using this service so only genuine texts are picked up and this is easy to check. I also tell people to report scam attempts to the police directly onto the 'action fraud' database.

Most mobile providers use this service so send a text to your landline and report back what happened. A couple do not use this service and they will use a different audio translation/relay service. I'm not sure, but I think 3 uses the AQL.TTS system. There is no cost to answer these calls (don't call these numbers back) and again, this comment can be checked against your phone bill.

This BT  service is far from perfect but it is the only audio text service that makes it easy to check if the call is genuine or a scam. BT tell you to call this number back to safely retrieve a genuine text but there is a small charge. I tell you how to check and safely retrieve your text for free. That info is on page 260 on this feed. That info also very quickly gets buried by idiots who just want everyone to block this number through their own phone provider.

Obviously it is the prerogative of this site moderators to say what posts remain and what are removed but I fully expect them to take a reasoned approach when someone complains about it. So far, the jury is out on that one!

One of your constant points is that calls from this number are 'Conditionally Safe'. That is playing with the facts. Safe and Trustworthy are not shaded. Calls are either or Safe/Trustworthy or not.

    - Read the posts that go back 14 years. Scamming calls have been reported coming from this number.
    - See the post right next to mine from Ian - this concerns phishing and overcharge scams from this number.

I do not believe that for 14 years and 5000 posts, someone has been consistently putting up false posts or trying to tarnish your reputation. You have busted your own rep. Using multiple names as you have admitted destroys any credibility you think you have. Your posts come under the heading of Shilling, Spamming and Trolling - and will be reported.

Wake up G-Edwards. All business numbers are conditionally safe. Have you run your bank phone numbers through a google search? This audio text messaging service that has been going for a lot longer then 14 years is perfectly safe IF you know how to pick out the genuine call from the fake.  Ditto with your bank phone number - a far far more likely number for scammers to spoof. I know exactly what to do if I am contacted by my bank and how to respond.  I know what to do when this number calls - which it has done several times over the past few months. Sensible people will always look up an unknown number that calls them - hence the huge number of look ups over the years.  2 sites have a total of over 1m views for this number but that's over  long time. If this number is a front for scammers, the police at action fraud would have shut it down many years ago.

ANYWAY I'M BORED WITH THIS NONSENSE!!

So over 14 years/5000 posts, it seems very few people have your gift of prophecy, and that is exactly what scammers/shills/apologists like you depend on.

Calls from this number are NOT Safe.
You think the calls are just fine and that is simple for anyone to figure out if the calls are "Real" or "Fake."  But Simple is not the same as Easy. Witness the number posts here from people wondering if the calls are safe. Why are you not more concerned about  the people who do not have your fantastic ability to know the Real from the Fake; the Safe from the Unsafe?

Deciding Safe and Unsafe should be easy and fast, not something that has to be considered and calculated.
The average consumer, the single mom, the old lady in Dubuque and thousands of others in this tread have the right to be undisturbed by the scammers and spammers like you attempting to do damage control. That is why WCM and 800notes are valuable for the average person.

In a more perfect world, scams would be tracked and shut down before years and years have passed. But sheer numbers work on the side of crooks. Not enough goes into enforcement.

5000 posts indicates this is a very, very active number that is in play, and that suggests scammers have some time and money invested in keeping the calls coming from this number. It would be nice if you did move along - better for the consumers since you create confusion - but I reckon will be back with more shilly troll  posts. That is your history and I suspect you will run true to form.

Looks like you found yourself a determined scammer who has been using this number for years and years and now wants people to think that the calls are legitimate. Now that it has been called out it is upset because its scamming ways have been exposed.

Yup. Uses the old "Blind 'em with Buzz Words" and "I'm Done and Won't be Back" from the spamming shill playbook. Never addresses the main point: Calls from this number can't be trusted."
It will be back, it has money at stake.

What it will do in reality is stop posting for a while and then come back when it thinks that the coast is clear and that no one is watching. Then it will start spewing the lies that it keeps posting so that it can continue collecting money for the scam calls it is making. I think Ian said it best. This is a premium text scam where they make money sending and receiving texts to phones. No normal person would have devoted this much time to "debunking" the alleged facts of this number. Scum should be put in jail and the key thrown away.

That's s load of rubbish. Check the BT site. Picking up s genuine text message sent to a house phone is free. If you call this number back to retrieve the text is charged at 5p per minute plus your network access charge.  Just check this post before spewing out your nonsense. Check the BT site by googling this number. Try sending a test text to your landline. And do not call me 'it'. That sums up exactly the type of person you are. Sums up this rubbish site as well. Agree scum scammers should be thrown in jail. That's why I say all scam attempts should be reported directly onto the police fraud database.

While you are right to warn people about the risks of calls from unknown numbers, your knowledge of this UK 0845# is wrong.  It is a service operated by BT (British Telecom - look it up) and with Openreach managing the bulk of the UK copper cable network for all UK telecomms like SKY, Virgin, TalkTalk etc, you do not have to be a BT customer to receive these text calls.
If ever someone does come on the line and speaks, then it is a scam, they've spoofed the number, hang up IMMEDIATELY, or have a bit of fun and string 'em along, really winds them up!
When someone sends a text/SMS to a landline, usually a mistake picking the name from their contact list - especially at Xmas or New Year festivities - unless the recipient has a text-enabled landline, BT will convert the text into an audio message.  And using txtspk abbvtns cms thru as mostly grbld gbbldeegook.
For UK readers of this, and who are worried, there is a simple and safe way to PROVE that not all calls from this 0845 are scams, just send a simple message from your mobile to your landline, to check how the system works, something like: "Hello, this is a test of the service on xxxday by [insert your name]"
When your landline rings, pick up, it won't work if you let it go to ansaphone, listen to the instructions and you'll hear your message, with further options including how to set a curfew or cancel completely. Job done, takes a few minutes.
Thereafter, if you do receive a text message in this way, still take note of the source number read out to you, if it's from a number in your contact list, should be fine but any number can be spoofed, sadly.
Do NOT call back this number as 0845's are NOT free to use!!

Not a scam , this is a service number, if you know the number calling when you pick up it's safe if you dont well that's your decision if you want to listen to the message but if you cant grasp simple information like this you shouldn't be let out in society I would jack it in. Fines for anonymous trolls will be here soon and if you are not why dont we ever see anything on social media and in public view probably because as you say scum like you should be locked up yeah ?

I would not be making threats about "...Fines for anonymous trolls..." since you have more posting screen names than Carter has pills. All designed to confuse and misdirect.

You refuse to see the two main problems with this number:
    - Based on years of reports, this number has been, and still is, used by scammers.
    - The number has been spoofed, so that makes calls from this number untrustworthy.
