The number listed is a BT SMS service call number. When someone texts a message to you using a land line phone number as the recipient it is sent via this SMS messaging service on the number listed.

It is perfectly ok to listen to the message but up to you if you want to respond to the message details

Couldnt get to the phone in time to answer call. Called it back & it is a BT SMS service. It gives you the mobile number that sent it, then an automated voice tells you the message that was left.

This number called my land line at 2.30 am - very annoying when everyone in the household was asleep and then woken by this call.  When the call was answered there was no-one at the other end.

Its BTs text message to home number service. if someone has sent you a message late, then its nothing to do with BT. you can, however, switch this 'text to home number' service off. send a text message via your mobile phone to your normal home phone - if its the BT text service then you should get a phone call from this 0845 number! this would surely explain calls at odd hrs, especially at times such as new yr, when people accidentally send a "happy new yr!" to your home phone instead of your mobile.
it must be a fairly new service, but i have just joined Talk Talk, and these calls have only just started up, for some odd reason.. and just as you might get stupid spam text messages to your mobile phone, dont agree or listen to everything you hear on this home text message service either, as its exactly the same

within 2 days i have gotten 2 annoying calls. The first was at 1am. The second one (this 'text to home' number) at 4am! I found out this 08456-021111 number is definately a BT text service, shown here:- http://bt.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/bt.cfg/php/end ... &p_cats=345,350

read about switching the BT text service above from earlier poster "alex"-
"1) the number 08456021111 is BT's text service.
    2) when it calls it will tell that is is BT, read you the number that the message is from, and then you press 1 for it to  read the message to you.
    3) this is a completely FREE service. so answering the call costs you nothing! the only person it charges is the person who sent the text, and i believe it is the cost of a regular text message.
    4) if you miss the call, just call the number back. this is a lo-rate call.
    5) if you don't want to call the number back, then wait and it will call again. (note, your answering machine will not be able to pick up the message because you must press 1 to listen to it).
    6) this service is good to use if you want to text someone at home. just text their landline number.
    7) you can specify the settings by calling 0800-587-5252 (for FREE). you can choose when these calls can be received (a cut off time) and even turn it off, meaning people cannot text your landline (unless you have phones that allow character texts like you receive on a mobile phone).
    8) if you do receive garbled messages, it could be from the wrong number or someone who is texting in text speak (a way that the automated system is unable to read).
    9) if it is a scam txt (from someone you do not know) it is still nothing to do with BT. the message still does not cost you anything, just don't fall for whatever the message says. (it may be a bank you don't have an account with who tells you to call a number. DON'T!!) just ignore the message and if it becomes a regular problem then call 0800-587-5252 (for free) to sort it out.
    10) someone could even submit your landline to text service to receive prank messages (eg, jokes, or adult texts). this happened to my brothers friend (by another one of his friends). once again call 0800-587-5252 (for free). note: this isn't a likely occurrence. it's just people being idiots."

As for the text message to home number BT service, just be cautious as to where you put your home number on questionaire or sign up forms-perhaps one day, unwanted texts to home phones will be just as annoying as junk mail to your email address! :( :( :( my 1am call, 01925-555601, was from a different company, from Talk Talk. im still wondering as to why they would call so late - they even called today (12pm), but I just missed it-hopefully its not automatic advertising!

This number keeps calling us it called about 5 time in the space of an hour and the last call was 10:50pm last night, it still keeps calling, I don't answer the home phone anyway generally because everyone has my mobile

    Just annoying!
They tried to call me about 10 times yesterday.  The issue for me is not what it is but the time they call.  Last one was after 11pm which makes me worry as none of my friends/family would call at that time of the night unless it was serious!!

On this occasion it was just my Mum (not used to her mobile) who text me to home rather than my mobile....

Also, I'm not a BT customer!!

ive been called for 1 month at 12:02pm and 12:17pm everyday i really want them to stop phoning and leaving the same message. i think its a scam because who calls at that exact time everyday? the message says your home attendance is critical or something and to call phillips back.. might have to phone up bt and tell them to block that number from my phone.

THIS NUMBER IS THE BT TEXT MESSAGE SERVICE DELIVERING A TEXT MESSAGE FROM SOMEONE ELSE (ABIT LIKE ROYAL MAIL DELIVERING A LETTER) THE BT TEXT MESSAGE SERVICE SIMPLY CONVERTS ANY TEXT MESSAGE TO VOICE AND DELIVERS TO ANY UK LANDLINE.

IF YOU HAVE NO LEGITIMATE REASON FOR THIS SERVICE, SO EFFECTIVELY STOPPING ANYONE SENDING TEXTS TO YOUR LAND LINE THEN CALL BT ON 0800 587 525, WHO WILL HAPPILY STOP THESE CALLS.

THIS ISNT A SCAM FROM BT
