Report a phone call from 08456021111 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- AnitaActually your answerphone CAN take this message, as mine did when I was texted at 4.30am yesterday! It also told me the mobile no which had sent the text (not one I recognised, someone made a mistake I guess)
- Andylol..you are all so suspicious:)
This is absolutely legit - BT - if someone texts your landline the service calles you and you listen to the message - it costs 4p/minute and is most likely a family member or friend.
I was suspicious too - but just phoned BT becuase I am with Virgin - but apparantly my number is a BT number (even though I use Virgin) so I still get the service. You don't have to call back - in fact, if you answer it when it calls it costs you absolutely nothing - you just get your message. BT said they have storng spam fliters so usually it will be a friend or someone who you know - NOT A SCAM. Phone BT yourself and ask them if you don't take my word.- Caller: BT
- AndyI gorgot to say - when answer or call back to get your message it will actually tell you the time and phone number that the message came from. If it is a mobile - then it's obviously a friend or family member. You are in no harm answering this call I promise - I worry cause you are all missing your messages from friends. Nobody gains anything from this service - it's not possible to be a scam. Phone BT yourselves and check - see that I am right.
- Caller: Totally legit
- vickiIt a text message service from people who leave a text message to your landline
- CornishboiThis is when any one sends you a sms to your home phone. The automated machine will read it out to you.
- BobCall 08005875252 press 1 then 5 cancels all calls!!!!!!!!!!!
- andrewcall from 08456021111.
I picked up phone, some bloke spoke then shut up. This number is used by companies to send you a message via a BT text messaging service. why can't companies ring normally and leave messages on answer phone, not making us ring an 0845 number to get text message. this is a pain in the seat. - hmmmphI have just received three calls in five minutes. Each call started with "You have won..." at which point OH hung up. These messages starting in this way are scam, although obviously the delivery service is not. Why does anyone need to send a TEXT message to a landline?
I am ex directory and long since registered with the TPS, yet am on here frequently checking out spam numbers.
I will now phone the 0800 number given previously to at least stop the text messages. - Angela MathersIts the BT sms number, but I was told to call a Peter Anderson urgently.I don't know who the hell he is.So I won't!
- helphow can i retreive sms voice call listened to message it was important but didnt take callers number. dialled to listen to message again but voice said you have no stored messages. can any one help please..... what can i dial to listen to message again.
- BillThankyou to Bob's advice (24th Nov 2009 - about five above). I've now turned this ridculous service off! It rang us at 08.10am on a SUNDAY!!!!!
If people can't be bothered to speak to you directly on a landline - even friends who think it's 'cool' to do this - then I can't be bothered to receive this rubbish.
I'm not anti-text, but isn't that what mobiles are useful for?
BT, you ought to be ashamed of yourselves! - vernard hosfordi received two calls fro 08456021111 telling me i had a text message, i did not repond to it as i researched the no on the web
- Caller: 08456021111
- JASCalled at 10.45pm and said there was text msg waiting. Needless to say I didnt call back. Yet ANOTHER scam. Im so sick of them all!
- Nick HallOn a slightly different tack, I used to send and receive SMS text messages on my landline (BT Relate SMS corded phone), but since the beginning of Nov 09 this has stopped, and I get all my incoming texts as a voice message; I am unable to send texts from my phone. BT appears unable to sort this problem despite up to 2 calls a day from them (UK and India)as well as a visit from a BT engineer. I had changed from BT's weekend calling plan to their Anytime Calling Plan on 26 October. Each BT adviser asks the same inane questions and promises to get it sorted within a day, but doesn't. I am often told that I don't have caller display (I do) or that my own phone is at fault(it sends and receives texts on my neighbour's landline). I have written to BT, but got no answer. Now I haven't received a bill for over a month, and have been told by and adviser that I am on quarterly billing (I have been paying by direct debit for many years). Apart from going to Ofcom or going mad, any (sensible)suggestions?
- ian aI recieved a call at 23.46 from this number it was a text message saying " it's time to jet up"
- m00sefaceJust got a silent call from said number (0845 602 1111) no answer, nothing. At 2345hrs it's beyond a joke. am going to contact icstis/otello/ofcom or whatever they call themselves..
- Caller: who knows?
- Non of your businessThis scam number called 4x last night
Please shut it down - RobReceived a call from this stupid number at 1.14, didn't get to the phone in time and then panicked incase it was a family member in trouble. Was about to ring it back and then decided it may be a scam and a family member would keep on trying.disturbed night because of it. This morning used the comp to try to track down the number and as a result of all these messages and reading it was a genuine SMS service, dialled the number. It was the SMS service saying that I had no messages! If it is through BT why can't this sort of thing not be stopped because its infuriating and it's not the first time its happened.
- LesCalled at 8:45PM on a Sunday evening. They rang off before I could answer. Absolutely ridiculous this is permitted. When will this sort of pointless harassment in your own home be stopped? It is an abuse of the telecomms system neither BT, Ofcom nor Government give a toss about stamping out.
- Ian SharpSMS message left . Did not respond.
