called this morning left a blank message on my answer machine - who isit? its christmas day for chrissake!!

Opting out of receiving texts
Dial 0800 587 5252 from the phone you wish to ‘opt’ out and choose option 1
Opting back in to receiving voice texts
Dial 0800 587 5252 from the phone you wish to ‘opt’ in and choose option 2

Called 8 times on Christmas day

Received what appeared to be a random message about good luck in the New Year. No names mentioned, sounded like a scam.

Anyone leaving further messages on this page is either sad, stupid or both.  Clearly you can't read or understand the multiple times people have pointed out what this number is.

READ ANY OF THE 28 PAGES OF NOTES - ITS A BT SERVICE, NOT A SCAM!!!  Any text message left will be from someone trying to get hold of you for whatever purpose via text.  BT are simply passing this on as part of their landline service which you CAN and SHOULD switch off.

I am x direct so NO ONE has my number.  I have no idea who caller was as never answered (home)phone - twice this evening.  Who are these SH1Ts as I have something better to do with my life than answer the phone on NYE! And if you are part of this stupidity, oh, please, get a life!

This seems to be sound advice.

Someone you know (or who has your landline number) has sent a SMS text message to your landline (either intentionally or not).
BT stores these text messages (even if you are not a BT customer). BT then phones you from 08456021111 until you answer the phone (or call that number back) and listen to the message.
If you want to opt out of receiving text on your landline (and therefore opt out of calls from 08456021111), then phone 0800 587 5252 from your landline, select option 1 then option 5.

I received atleast 15 calls on 30 and31 st.When I called back.I found that someone had been calling on odd times to say Happy new year.It is annoying.

I had a call from this number and didn't answer as I was suspicious that an 0845 number would be calling me at 2am! I looked it up on this site, and other comments satisfied me enough that it was what it is - not a scam, but a text service from BT. My nephew sent me a new year's message to every number stored in his phone, including my mobile and home phone. I got the text on my mobile, and an hour later got the call from this number on my home phone which does not recieve texts. After calling it back, a recording said I had been sent a text, which was the same message sent to my mobile, read out by a computerised voice.
If you are getting several calls, then I presume that unless you answer, you will keep getting them otherwise your 'text' will keep trying to get through.

Called at 02:25 and again at 03:25 on New Years day!!!!!!  Had just got to sleep as we always see in the New Year.

This it a bt number if someone leaves a SMS on your home number which ever home phone supplier you are with it is delivered on this number .....but this does happen sometimes 4-5hours after it was sent hence a 4:30 am call last night and an angry call to bt this morning

Called twice today. 7.00am and 10.30am. No one there

this number rang at 04.43 on 01/01/2010 was really cross as had only been in bed 2 hours as it was new years eve

Had a message to our house phone at 02:04 from 08456021111, gits Happy New Year to them TOOOOOOOOOOO

simple answer if someone sends a sms text from a mobile to your BT landline its converted to audio. used to be good when tom baker(Dr Who fame) was the voice had great fun sending weird txt's making him say silly things . however 5.30am call from a friend wishing me happy new year this morning has taken to shine of this good idea.

Well we have had about 3 calls from this number and when we get them they are asking for a guy named Andrew and they are at night but it also leaves a mobile number of 07884266565 so I have txt the number and told the person that he has the wrong number and to stop calling as it keeps waking our 2 yr old. We heard nothing for a few weeks until last night! At 4.20am New Yrs Day the guy puts this message electronically onto our home number 'Dear Andrew, Happy New Year, Paul Midgson'. His surname could have been Midson as its hard to tell with those voices. So I rang the o845 number and it says you can leave an electronic voice mail for him so I did. But when we read it on our answer phone it does say from 12345 but then when we go into it, its says the 0845 number.
I warned him the last time to stop it or I would facebook it and put his number there to see if I can find him and tell him to STOP IT so I have just now.
So I don't think the number is a scam I just think that people might be giving out their numbers incorrectly or the company is storing them incorrectly.
We have had our home number for 2 yrs now and it has been taken with us to 2 houses so its not a person who is wanted at the house we live in, the guy when he first called did say he thought he might have wrote the number down wrong-thing is you would think he would apologize and stop calling us or at least answer his mobile and tell us sorry.
