I would suggest you test it, send a text to your landline, and see if you get a call from this number...

Basically, I have been getting several calls from this number, some at ridiculous times (as in past midnight). Turns out it is genuinely BT's SMS answering service, and it was a family member who was texting my landline by mistake instead of my mobile (same contact name in their phone's addressbook... so, it's not this number's fault it calls at stupid o'clock... it's the person/company texting who is causing the irritation, so listen to the SMS message, it's always a laugh hearing the voice reading out a text from a mate!

Rec'd telephone msg, saying text msg waiting for me on 0845 602 1111.
Tried ringing but only got msg saying I had no msg's!
What's it all about?

rung me twice and got me out of my sick bed saidf push button 1 which I did and it invited me to anne summers party no time or place

received a call from 08456021111 saying "the new name for James Bulger killer is" and is living in Fleetwood

It's either BT or Virgin media's SMS to voice service.

Opt out of it by using the 08005875252  option 1 followed by option 5.

In the last 2days have called me 15 times so far just had it but not going to answer it what a scam just to make money. WHY DON'T THEY JUST GO AWAY BLOODY PAIN IN THE [***].

Okay, so here is what happens.  Someone accidentally sends your a text to your landline number instead of your mobile.  It's easy to do.  My little girl just sent me a text to wish me a happy mothers day, but she is only nine and she has got the contacts on her phone muddled up.  All you have to do is ring the number back and the message is relayed by an automatic voice thingy.  It also gives you the mobile number it has been sent from.  No harm done.

This is not a scam. This is someone from a mobile phone has text your landline for whatever reason. You simply answer it, press 1 and listen to the message - it reads out exactly as had been texted so abbreviation doesn;t work very well.

It will tell you the number who text you prior to listening to the message, so jot that down and found out who is texting your landline.

THIS IS A SCAM! AND ANYONE WHO IS TELLING YOU OTHERWISE ON HERE IS NOT TO BE TRUSTED.

got a text from 07595553513 saying i need a gurentor for a loan :/ then got a call from 08456021111 :/ compleatly random and odd and im neither with bt or virgin :/

08456021111 has rung me about 16 times today... how do I stop it???

This is not a scam. It's someone who has sent you a text message via BT to your home phone. They only save the messages for 24 hours. You can also set a "curfew" ...i.e. the times you are happy to receive these calls. Check it out for yourself at

which is where I got the information from and checked it out with BT.. it's all true. I have spent a couple of days believing I'd been targeted by telemarketers. But no... it IS BT

NOT A SCAM

I got three calls this afternoon annoying and when you call 0845 602 1111 BT voice says "The number you have dialled has not been recognised - Plz check and try again --NO THANX BT

I have had 3 calls today from this number and after reading previous comments here about it being BT sending a txt message i waited for them to call back and just picked it up and guess what? It was BT with a txt message for me off my son in law. So the mystery on this phone number is now over, just pick up and listen to ur sms message. Simples

you can stop this number from calling you by calling 08005875252 and cancelling text service from bt... its free and is done in only 20 minutes

Just rang it back, it was the bt sms number telling me that i had just had txt message from my mum, to let me know she had got the train on time. She used this message service as my mobiles not working. so its all above board!

I recieved call at 1039pm with some text talking about a holiday. Second time I've had it, why is nothing being done?
