I was telephoned by  a curt female from   0 8 4 5 8 6 3 8 3 1 3 .
"Are you Mr (my name)"

I said : who is that speaking

She repeated in a demanding tone:  "are you Mr (my name)"

I asked again who was speaking and she cut off. During the call i could hear other people in the background.

I am a registered Telephone Preference subscriber, so i should not have had a marketing call.

This 08458638313 number is owned by OPAL TELECOM plc. I have not phoned them, but i am told by Offcom that they will most likely give enquirers the status and end user of the number. Failing that, Offcom will assist to get the identity of whoever is using this  number.

The authorities  - police, BT and service providers -have a self interest in non-geographic number  operators  behaving themselves. They don't want spivs and chancers out there getting away anonymously with dodgy operations.

I believe that very large numbers of telephone subscribers are getting these calls. In my case  read from  the London Telephone Directory. But I have had some calls made to a dedicated number I use only for LOOT listings newspaper  and GUMTREE -  an internet personal ads site, either of which could be selling their  advertisers' personal information.

Hung up when I answered!

They phoned, offered me free home improvements.

They were polite but disappointed when I turned them down.

I don't trust anything when they offer something for free.

Now I've seen this page I'm glad I didn't give then any info about myself.

Phoned BT and asked to make my number private from now on.

called 8.10pm last night (Lancsashire area)and mithered about windows and when my husband said we had new windows throughout he still went on and on - I fell sorry for the poor sods who have to work at these cold calling call centres.  It is soul destroying for them as well as bluddy annoying for us who are getting harrassed from strangers asking for us to identify ourselves in our own homes at bed time!!!! It's not always the callers who are the pain in the backside it's their bosses - awful companies.  Would rather be living in a tent than working for one of these lot.

Missed a call from this number; called back but just rang and rang with no reply so I hung up.  From reading the other comments, I don't think I missed out at all by not speaking with them!

Received a call from this number, they hung up when I answered.  Have tried to call them back but no response.

Called me last night, saying something about winning 1500 pounds worth of prizes, and ran through a list of which prize I would prefer. Double glazing, new kitchen, garage door etc. I said I would like a garage door.

"What kind do you have at the moment?"
"I don't have any at all"
"You don't have a door on your garage?"
"I don't have a garage"
"Then why do you want a door?"
"To slide down the hill in the snow"
"That's a bit stupid"
"Not really, it sounds like fun"
"You're wasting my time"
"Erm, no. Actually, YOU are wasting MY time"
"you're an idiot" <hangs up>

Sounds like the kind of company I like to do business with!

Just called me and woke me up.... Asking whatg I would do if I had 1500. I said where did you get this number he said a database.

I hung up

I've been getting at least one call a day for several weeks now, and before that sporadically for a long period. Each time the call relates to Weathershield, the window suppliers. Each time I've stated clearly that I'm not interested, and don't call back. Sometimes they then call back as early as the same day, regardless.

Here's how today's call from them ended, which is fairly typical:

Me: I've told dozens of your colleagues that I'm not interested.

Caller: But you haven't spoken to me before.

Me: You're wasting your own time as well as mine. I just don't understand why you don't flag my record as "don't call again".

Caller: Well I would have if you'd asked politely. But you didn't did you.

Unbelievable!

I just got called by this number.  I run my business from home, when my business answering message played, the caller hung up.  I dialled 1571 and called them back straight away but no one picked up.  I googled the number and came across this site.  Thanks for all you contributions.  I know that the caller is dodgy now but I'm a bit confused.  As I pay nearly £4pm to BT to stop nuisance calls!

Got a call and hung up as I tried to answer

I had several unpleasant calls from this number and then decided to string them along a bit. I managed to get info and a number that someone answers! The company is Weathershield, part of the My House group. I called 01622 697235 and spoke to a sensible supervisor. Like many companies using tele marketing they have employees who get bored and rude  and this is doing their reputation no good. Satisfactory to speak to someone and make my complaint even if it achieves nothing. Don't think I will be dealing with this company though.

Called and then hung up when I answered.

Called me today and tried to give away £1500 of home improvement grant(s). Asked how they got my number because I am ex directory. Was told BT supplied it. I called BT and they emphatically stated that they did NOT supply my number.

DEFINITELY SOUNDS LIKE A CON TRICK!!!!

Had a call from this number and was told that i had won £1500 of home improvements.  I said i wasnt interested and the guy kept on and on and then started asking me if i would like a burglar alarm??  This made me suspisious so i then politely asked him to never call me again as i was NOT interested and i want to have my number removed from their list. He started being rude so i ended up putting phone down.  About 20 seconds later the phone rang and it was a g guy saying - You have just been speaking to my colleuge james and you put the phone down on him WHY DID YOU DO THAT.  He was very aggressive.  I told him because i am NOT interested. He then told me he would only remove my number if i said PRETTY PLEASE!  Ha the cheek!  So i then told him goodbye you tw*t and hung up.  HE then rang back for the 3rd time and asked me to repeat what id said.  I then told him that i would call the police if he called again and he replied - "call the police, see if i care im gonna be round your house in a bit anyway!!  He was vey threatening.  I cant believe these people are not being investigated!!!

A sales kid called Charlie called me on bank holiday monday morning. the conversation went like this

Charlie: hi this is charlie calling from myhouse group. Don't worry this is not a sales call.
ME: This is a sales call. Don't you think it's a bit low doing this sort of thing on a Bank Holiday?
Charlie: Woah hang on I'm working on a bank holiday, what are you doing?
ME: What am I doing? I'm at home fielding sales calls and taking grief from you
Charlie: I'm not giving you grief you're giving MR GREIF!
ME: You called me Sunshine what do you want?
Charlie: *Hangs up*

It doesn't matter how often I ask Myhouse Group to take me off their list they just keep calling.

phoned Monday at 16.30. no message left on answer phone. Tried phoning back but no answer.

Just this minute had a call from this number.hung up when i answered.

WAS CALLED BY 08458638313 ASKED FOR BY NAME AND ADVISED I HAD WON A HOUSE ALARM SYSTEM. WAS SUSPICIOUS AS WAS ASKED IF ALREADY HAD ALARM AND WHAT TIME SOMEONE WOULD BE IN SO THEY COULD COME ROUND TO DISCUSS IT.ASKED THE NAME OF THE COMPANY AND WAS TOLD MYHILL PART OF THE WEATHERSEAL GROUP.DID NOT GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS AND HUNG UP

didn't realise I wasn't the only one, have been harrassed by this number for more than a year; yes, they always hang up, today I got fed up and decided to call back but no answer, then looked number up on net and see the common theme - thanks for everyone else's advise.  I have now phoned the police to ask their advice, unfortunately this is not a police matter and they advised reporting through Ofcom (www.ofcom.org.uk), here is the link to the Telephone Preference Service  http://ask.ofcom.org.uk/help/telephone/unsolicited_sales_calls ;   once you have registered the offending number it then becomes illegal for them to call you.  You can also report to your landline provider and follow up with a compliant if you still get the calls.  Hope this helps to stop these people harrassing us.
