An english man called at 8 pm asking if I was the owner of the house, I answered, quite annoyed, what he wanted, then he said that I had just won 1.600 pounds for home improvements......yeah right, and just hung up.

Called up, Asked to speak to the home owner, I said they weren't in, so the guy said "Oh f**k off then" and hung up.  Has anyone else been shopping for car insurance recently?

The phone rang and I answered it.  A man said "Sorry wrong number" and hung up.  I did the 1471 code and it was that number.

Doh!!!

I always turn the volume of the phone off. So I'm never bothered by nuisance phone calls. However, by dialling 1471 I know this lot have been phoning me.

Had calls from this number for over a month, just found the number, hangs up as soon as I anwser.

First a lady called to see if I was interested in a free home security system.  i kept asking her what the catch was but she said there wasn't any and then told me that a colleague would call me back.  a guy then called and asked me if i was the home owner, confirmed whether i lived in the 'e' area (london e5 or higher) and whether i lived alone.  when i started questioning him about the product he hung up.

i'm not sure if its data gathering for marketing or something more sinister like seeing if anyone's home (although he didn't get my house details)

The catch with "free" security systems usually comes in the horrendously high charges they apply for maintenance or connection to their security desk.   At least that's the case with other systems.   This lot might try a different angle.

If you,ve ever wondered what happens when your number is lost or stolen by careless companies or sold to organised criminals, who probe you for information over the phone in order to find out how vunerable you are, now you know.

A stuttering guy called (therefore I couldn't get the company name even after a couple of attempts) and said i have won £1500 of home improvements and tried to get me to have new windows etc.

They actually called our company number rather than a residential number so I told him we're not allowed to give out any information over the phone, so if this is a survey he can forward it to our address. He sounded disappointed, then ended the call.

Wasn't really rude or anything just really weird...

I answered with our company name and they remained silent for a few seconds and then hung up

This number calls me every day at least twice- sometimes they ask for mr bailey and i say theres no1 here that name then ask if i'm the homeowner then hang up....other times like today they just hang up as soon as i answer!

I'm gettin tortured every day by calls frm withheld no and this no just hanging up when i answer or letting the phone ring twice then hanging up- so strange!!

Called asked if house owner and said been chose for home improvments which did i want. I said i'd spend the money on stoipping cold calling, he said it wasnt and asked again if I was the homeowner. I hung up. Think may have said weather seal like andy above

Called me I was on other line, they didn't leave a message and when I returned the call it rang for ages.

I get a call from these people every couple of weeks. It's always the same - they hang up as soon as I answer.
I tried calling back but nobody answers there either.

Noticed yesterday that there was a missed call on my phone - I checked the calls log and it was from this number, which had tried to call me mid-morning yesterday (Sunday).  No message was left on the 1571 service.

I got a call from these people but could not answer as I was on another call. I rang back but it rang forever with no response. I also have an ex-directory number and don't know how they got hold of it.

I will nonetheless do what I have done to the others. Save the number in my phone book as "Do Not Answer". That way, only Do Not Answer appears when they ring. It has done wanders so far.

Just got a call by this number, claimed to be home improvements and that i'd won £1500. Messed with him for a bit as i like to do thinking its another marketing phone call. Just kept saying "oh really?", "im sorry i don't quite get that", "could you explain it one more time" stuff like that, gets them excited.
He hung up on me after about 20 mins, i called the number back literally seconds after he hung up, but no one picked up.
A quick google of the number lead me here. Thanks for all your tips.

I took out new CAR INSURANCE 4 weeks ago, i guess i am now on the list of Weathershield, they started to call me yesterday early afternoon, the first thing they said was that i had won upto £1500, was i the home owner ? and if i was to improve my home what would it be ? Windows ? Doors ? Porch, and a few more! so i replied a porch as mine needs looking at. not really a porch more of a wooden canopy, thats fine mate "what is your name?" they asked me, i just picked a name at random, said Dave ! we booked a time for 2 hours later for someone to pop round in person and do a quote. this took the form of 4 more phone calls the last one saying they couldn't make it today, lets make a date for tomorrow ! ok i replied. we agreed on 2pm for the appointment to meet in person. I was going to be out until 12 they said they would be in touch first thing, i said can you ring after 12 as i will be out? YES. I came back about 12 to find a whole lot of calls i had missed from them, 10:06 10:24 10:33 10:39 10:51 10:58 .. then at 12:10 the phone rang it was Weathershield again confirming for 2pm .. yes no problem lets do it ! by the way all we ask is a min of 1 hour to do the quote, i need to make a phone call and get back to you he said.. off he went ... 12:36 he rings back tells me he can't do it for today .. can we book another time ? I said i had taken the afternoon off today and was NOT going to take another 1/2 day off ! i told him i was happy for them to come round to look at the porch as it was all outside ..they could post the quote in the door when they were finished, and that it was not something that i needed to be envolved with directly. But they will not know what it is you want done ! i said just need what is there to be replaced with the same .. like for like only new wood ! i then asked what sort of price it may cost. .. i can give you 40% to 50% which would be better for you he said .. that would be a better deal for you, than giving upto £1500 off ! so i asked again what the price maybe, he replied £8500 i Laughed out loud ..and replied i have had 2 quotes already and they were for £600 and £700 he then said "that it was maybe better if he went and he would cancel any further calls!"  ** Clearly they had no idea who i was or where i was, i had hoped if they had sent someone round i would findout how i got on the list and a little more into the way this company works ! **  "we wait and see what happens next"

Called and hung up as soon as I answered

Had a call from 08458638313 on29/03/09 aat 12:49.  Heard talking in the background and then they hung up.
