Whole pages deleted. It is a disgrace. Why have a forum based around nuisance companies if you are going to cut whole pages like this. Obviously legal pressure from OE. Totally scumbags.

davy boy must be getting worried up there in cumbernauld in his OE castle, i wonder if he knows who reply is and is scared of what he/she is going to tell us and what questions he/she was going to ask, you are definately right when you call them scumbags

It has to be pressure from David Moulsdale as both "Lion Heart" & "re David Moulsdale" have repeatedly asked for a few of THEIR OWN comments to be deleted with no joy :(

DM deleted my section (his IP address displayed) stating reason as:
"section deleted due to self-promotion and hearsay. none of this is factual...where is any evidence"

Self promotion - is he for real?!  

How many "About Me: David Moulsdale" blogs has he published recently, with 'Comments closed' because no-one ever says anything nice :(

The way Optical Express are controlling the content of this site by legal threats is sickening.

I am an ex employee of Optical Express.  I unfortunately worked there for 2 years as could not find another job at the time.  (I cannot comment on branches as I didn't not work in any) The call centre started by calling customers every 4 hours to remind them that their eye test is due or to book a laser consultation.  DM was not happy there was not enough appointments being brought in so he upped the calling to every 2 hours.  This was not the problem.  The problem was that the advisors were having to call people who had been with Optical Express years ago (Upto 6) and had clearly gone elsewhere since then.  The pressure to get the customer to book on that one call was unbelievable. We had to call people upto 9.00PM, including people with children, older couples etc.  They treat their customers like numbers and as long as they are giving money then that's fine.  The call centre was run by a woman named Allison.  She is one of the most evil people I have ever met.  (Infact, when people have left before if they were sacked/resigned she actually got hate mail several times.)  Staff were sacked right left and centre without a word of warning over some of the littlest things that other companies may work with employees to improve on these rather than sacking. There were also a lot of people sacked unfairly - who also won a lot of court cases or were given a pay out before it got to court so not to publicise certain things. (some of these things would actually make you sick)  They then just continued to bring in new staff but didn't bother training them,  they just sat them next to people to listen to a few calls then sat them on the phone.  These people are trying to sell a medical procedure not windows.  They should have adequate training. The managers were also told that if any of them went to HR about problems with senior management that they would be sacked?  DM was a very intimidating man and would only speak with the good looking advisor's which made a lot of people feel uncomfortable.  Does this sound like the type of company you want to be dealing with?  I really wish that I could find positives about OE but unfortunately I find it very difficult.

had laser eye surgery from Optical Express and had such a bad experience.

First surgery approx 6 years ago & retreatment 4 years ago

My tear ducts were permanently sealed over (very painful), and I have to use dry eye drops pretty much every few hours. I also have a contact pain in my eye and cannot touch it (cant even rub my eye lid when taking off make up etc), also when waking up and during the night I get severe pains in my eye where it has become so dry.

I tried to seek legal advice but am out of the 3 year limitation time. So not only have I paid approx £4,000. I am now left worse off than I was before (I used to wear contact lenses every day, now I can’t) I also have to pay for new glasses regularly as my eye sight is getting worse and worse, as well as regularly buying eye drops.

To rub salt in the wounds (!) Optical Express continue to harass me with sales calls etc.

This is an abbreviated transcript of my conversation with "Alice":

Me: I have -3.5/-4.00 prescription, am I suitable for laser surgery?
A: You would need to attend a consultation, I can't tell you over the phone

Me: Can you confirm I meet your criteria to pay £395 per eye?
A: You need to attend a consult to see what your prescription is to find that out

Me: But surely there's someone there who can tell me these things.
A: No, I don't have that information, you would need to attend a consultation

Me: But I need to know these things before I waste time coming in?
A: You need to discuss these things at a consultation

Me: A friend of mine had surgery with you & she said you gave her a lifetime guarantee?
A: Basically you would need to discuss that at your appt, but as far as I know you get unlimited aftercare, as many appts as you need.

Me: Even if - hopefully not - I needed appts for the next 5 or 10 years?
A: Yes, but you need to come in & discuss this at your consultation

Then...

Me: OK Alice, please tell David Moulsdale that you just spoke with Sasha Rodoy & that I recorded our conversation.
A: Oh - OK... (I truly felt sorry for her)

Me: And I hope you don't get the sack!

Call OE & try it yourself - quick, before DM issues new orders to his call centre staff ;)
