Report a phone call from 08712242255 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- H| 4 repliesI have just got off the phone to action on fraud they have given me a crime reference number. and they suggested that other victims should also call them on 03001232040 the more people who call them helps them to build a picture about this scam and then enable them to take action. this is a goverment organisation and it is a low cost call. It took me a lot of searching to find this forum so I wonder how many other victims are out there who don't know what to do especially OAP's like my self.

H you dont say if you phoned the number they will cancel and refund your money, the call should cost something like 10p a minute so be quick but it only goes through to Devon.
Ericam you dont say if they gave you a refund? - H replies to Steve D| 2 repliesHello to all people on this forum.
The initial advice that I was given was not to contact them because I had no knowledge of that company and if I rang them I would be acknowledging them so because I knew nothing about them at all I assumed it was a scam right from the start so did not believe they could possibly have my card number I was proved wrong but have entered into discussion with Visa and they have cancelled my card so now a question of wait and see. My feeling is that Space Bag Company may be the legitimate side of a very dodgy organisation so I am telling every person I know not to have anything to do with Space Bag Company and asking everyone I speak to to pass on this warning. - Steve D replies to H| 1 replySorry H
I thought they had already taken your money. Keep an eye on your statement though. I know of people that cancelled their card but their card company still put it through on their new card!!! But as your companys fraud dept know hopefully that wont happen. - D.lloyd MorrisI also received a letter and brochure from Free&Easy giving me 30days free trial etc and after this they would take £99.99 annual fee from my bank account. After trying to call without success and waiting ages (how much did that cost me!!) I called again two days later and got through - I explained my concern and told them I did not get a phone call from them to which they answered by saying I did receive one and gave me the actual date!! Rubbish!!
The guy explained that there was some mis understanding ah! ah! and that he would concel my offer. He sounded genuine, but I will still contact the bank and office of fair trading etc..
Doreen - DeanHave received a letter today dated 2 November from Free & Easy Lifestyle, out of the blue giving me my 'Personal Membership Number' and offering a Free Trial. If I do nothing, then they will process my debit/credit card statement. The onus is on me to cancel this membership. I have tried unsuccessfully to ring 0871 224 2255 and there is no address in England. From where have they obtained my details? I have cancelled my cards, notified the bank, and all the relevant authorities of this scam.
I too have dealt with Spacebags.- Caller: letter from free & easy Ltd
- Dean| 2 repliesYes, it is Spacebags. Dealt with 9 months ago, follow-up call last week. At no time have I accepted a free trial. Have asked for a transcript ot the conversation. The following is their reply.
Thank you for your email.
After purchasing an item from Spacebags you would have received a telephone call from us to check everything was okay with your order. In this telephone call you were offered a free trial with ‘Free and Easy’. On agreeing to take up the free trial your address details were then passed onto ‘Free and Easy’ and an information pack was sent out you.
The welcome pack fully explains the terms and conditions of the club and there is a telephone number listed for you to call to cancel if you do not wish to continue membership of the club after your 30 day free trial. If Free and Easy do not receive a cancellation request within the 30 days as mentioned in the welcome pack you will automatically be upgraded to a fully paid up member. It does say clearly on the envelope that the contents aren’t junk mail and that time sensitive documents are enclosed.
We offer our customers this trial membership as we feel it offers a very good opportunity to benefit from the discounts they offer and even receive a free weeks holiday accommodation in Spain which is very good quality. The whole process is very transparent and their number is on the welcome pack letter, every page of the brochure you received, and also printed next to the annual payment on your statement. Customers are told both on the phone and in the welcome letter, that their payment details will be charged for the annual fee if they do not cancel within the 30 day trial period. I apologise that this club has not been of use to you in this instance.
I can confirm that you have now been removed from our mailing list. For any further queries please contact Free & Easy directly on 0871 224 2255.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further queries and please accept our sincere apologies for any misunderstanding this may have caused you.
Assuring you of our best attention at all times,
Kind Regards,
Spacebags Customer Services. - Steve D replies to DeanHi Dean,
the email would have gone through to the Devon call centre where this scam is run from see earlier posts for address.I think under the dataprotection act they have to supply a copy of the phonecall ( i may be wrong) but I doubt you'd get it. The call centre is run by Pressplay Shopping Tv they take orders for Spacebags, Also run scam on anybody ordering from Pressplay shopping channel, Winning Deals, Simply Home entertainment. - Bob AOP aka Old El Furioso ,| 2 repliesI only learned to use a computer last week and I'm glad I did otherwise I'd have never known about the extent of this scam. I too got the brochure from free and easy but actually rang my credit card company and cancelled my card which is a damn nuisance as thought the Spanish phone number was a premium line.Having read Steve D's contribution of 2nd November, now recall a young man telephoning me about two weeks ago from Simply Home Entertainment offering me a brochure which I agreed to on the basis of what I thought was DVD offers, as I have dealt with this company before without any problem. Thier brochure is now on nail in a certain small room awaiting its last bit of my business. Come on now, there must be a few good lads out there who could think of legal ways of making the lives of these conmen, sorry con persons a living hell. Think creatively and fiendishly and I look forward to future postings on this shower. P.S. never knew computers could be such good fun.

- Bob AOP aka Old El Furioso replies to Bob AOP aka Old El Furioso ,Re. my contribution a few minutes ago I am now advised by my learned wifelet that I recently became an O.A.P., which is,as we all know, an old age pensioner so stop taxing brains as to what an AOP is
- Mr. Milton WreakesOn checking my latest bank statement I too have had £99-00 taken out of my account. Fortunately the above mentioned telephone number also appeared on my statement so I contacted them and asked who are you and what is the nature of your business? It has some connection with holidays. I have not had any contact with them. The person I spoke to said they had sent me a brochure in September, and I replied to the effect that I had never seen it and not had any contact with them and would they please refund the £99-00.
What I would like to know is how they have got my bank account details ? We have an apartment in Spain so obviously I use my card whilst on holiday. Is it possible that the details could have been obtained there ? - H replies to Bob AOP aka Old El Furioso ,Hello, I have also had the same problem with Space Bag. I have submitted a fraudulent transaction report to my card company and received a new card. Have also filled out all forms affirming that it is a fraudulent transaction, also reported it to Action on Fraud Consumer Protection (0300 123 2040). They gave me a crime report number, worth having if you have to take further action. Also worth telling everyone about another scam. Five minutes ago I received a phone call from someone calling himself Jack Townsend, obviously an alias. He had the broadest Indian accent that I could hardly understand. The gist of the conversation was that I had downloaded some virus on my computer and they were going to fix it. Scam, scam, scam!! Beware. They knew my name and address. I told him I don't have a computer and he ended the call.
- jan kelly replies to Dennis Evans| 1 replyim in the same boat your bank cant stop the payment being taken ive had to close my account and open another one been on the phone best part of an hour sorting it out these people need stopping
i dont know where they got my details from i only buy craft supply,s on line - Steve D replies to jan kellyHi Jan, no doubt this was Craft 4 that you order from, another Pressplay Shopping associate. Its no good complaining to them as they are all part of the same company that run the scam.
Phillip Mason who runs the scam Free and Easy is also a director of Pressplay Call Centre! - NicolaWell these guys are still at it, they've just solicited £99.99 from my bank account! Ive informed my bank and they are investigating their end. But i will be ringing the telephone number and insist that the money be refunded. These guys need shutting down!

- Debbi replies to BootHi
I too have recieved a phone call from a company that I had made a purchase from offering a free trial, they were pushy and I was in a hurry to get off the phone, I thought it was free so no harm. The package arrived this morning I immediately called the 0871 number and the company could not tell me the cost of the phone call, they agreed to cancel my 'membership' and will send me a letter confirming this (at no cost) I will be sure to check my credit card details in a month to make sure that they havent charged me. This is clearly a scam and will teach me to say NO to any "special offers" on the telephone in future - OsianThe Original Space Bag Company called me under the what appears to be the guise of a survey and at the end gave me no chance to refuse an offer to be posted to me by Free and Easy.
No letter was received to ensure any 30day trial could be cancelled.
To prevent any problem the Original Space Bag Company were contacted by e-mail as they has instigated and foisted this unwanted offer on to me.
Their reply although I made it clear to them I had received no such packages.
"For any further queries please contact Free & Easy directly on 0871 224 2255".
It was with that telephone number I found that others had been caught by what appears to be a scam.
So please beaware of the Orginal Space Bag Company and their association with thsi company Free and Easy.- Caller: The Original Space Bag Company

- jean rodgers replies to Lou| 2 repliesI got my bank statement this morning and saw this £99.99 for a company called free and easy with a telephone number 08712242255. I phoned them and was astonished to hear the girl say I signed up for a holiday lifestyle membership. When quizzed she said well someone at your home did it. I told her I live alone and I never heard of you and would not consider your company or anything like it. I asked to speak to her boss and for their address in Spain. After a lot of waffling on her part I finally found out how they got my bank details which I never give over the phone. They hook onto the end of other companies web pages and if you don't uncheck the tiny wee box to say you don't want their goods, in this case a 30 day free trial to this scam company, they go ahead and take your bank details from this page where you unwittingly were buying something from say, Amazon. I have called my bank and the police to report this company and If I have to fly to spain to get them I will. They are thieves and scum taking money from people as it it is their right. I am incensed ! Every one should bombard their company with calls and emails and bring down their system.
