- Penny replies to Steve D| 1 replyWell of course it's not my real name I've already been in enough trouble for what grief I've supposedly caused the company. You have no idea what they did to me personally. Pricks. Steve do you have an email address ?
- D.T. replies to Pennycant be as bad as to what they did to my friends, wont give her a reference at all
- D.T. replies to southerngumpjust heard from trading standards wont do anything as they havent had any complaints from staff ie from the horses mouth only say so on websites...come on there are 1000's of people affected, do wonder if thy care people are being defrauded by the companies involved
- carole in DevonPlease read the small print as the T&C's say "3.2 Annual Payment; unless you notify us that you wish to terminate your Membership at the end of the first and each following membership year by following the instructions below, your Membership will be renewed automatically at the end of each membership year"
so EVERY Year they will charge you £99.99 (for ever as far as I can make out) and even if you have cancelled previously
I think everyone should be hassling Trading Standards as my bank told me that if you change cards they are linked and so a charge can be made against subsequent replacement cards. Talk to your bank even if you have changed cards.
I have not been debited (yet) but I have cancelled though I had to go through membership number 3 times before she said she had cancelled membership. Also she would not confirm they had my card details as they had not charged me for membership yet.
I did have an email from space bags though - "Customers should be told both on the phone and in the welcome letter that their payment details will be charged for the annual fee if they do not cancel within the 30 day trial period. We apologize that this club has not been of use to you in this instance" and I have asked for confirmation about the need to annually cancel membership - does anyone want it posted here?- Caller: 08444412898
- carole in Devon| 6 repliesJust phoned Free Time back on 08444412898 - as advised by Citizens Advice, to ask for written confirmation of cancellation within their 30 day trial period - Louise - who sounded English, confirmed she was in Spain and in a busy call centre - said
1) their calls were recorded even though you are not advised of this when the call is answered
2) they do not give written confirmation of cancellation of trial - only membership
3) they do not have an email address for customer services
4) if I want confirmation then I have to write to the address in Spain- Caller: Free Time
- SteveD replies to carole in Devon| 5 repliesLouise was in the Call Centre in DEVON
Pressplay Call Centre Ltd,
Benning Court,
Pottington Business Park,
Barnstaple, Devon,
EX31 1QN.
The directors are British, Phillip Mason and Joanne Moores were resident in Manchester but often visit the Barnstaple call centre.
The Spanish address given out to callers is just a mailing house used by several companies. - D.T. replies to SteveD| 1 replyprobably all fake names, as fake as the company is, staff should be as guilty as the people behind it, yes they could argue they just doing what they are told but surely they know what is immoral and what isnt
- D.T. replies to D.T.email from spacebags sent to a friend of mine btw spacebags are now renamed space systems

to me
Dear Carmen
Thank you for your email.
After purchasing an item from Spacebags you may receive a telephone call from us to check everything was okay with your order. In this telephone call you would be offered a free trial with ‘Free Time’. On agreeing to take up the free trial your address details were then passed onto ‘Free Time’ and an information pack was sent out you.
The welcome pack fully explains the terms and conditions of the club and there is a telephone number listed for you to call to cancel if you do not wish to continue membership of the club after your 30 day free trial. If Free Time do not receive a cancellation request within the 30 days as mentioned in the welcome pack you will automatically be upgraded to a fully paid up member. It does say clearly on the envelope that the contents are not junk mail and that time sensitive documents are enclosed.
We offer our customers this trial membership as we feel it offers a very good opportunity to benefit from the discounts they offer and even receive a free weeks holiday accommodation in Spain which is very good quality. The whole process is very transparent and their number is on the welcome pack letter, every page of the brochure you received, and also printed next to the annual payment on your statement. Customers should be told both on the phone and in the welcome letter that their payment details will be charged for the annual fee if they do not cancel within the 30 day trial period. We apologize that this club has not been of use to you in this instance.
Assuring you of our best attention at all times,
If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us again.
Kind regards,
Emma

how is this legal? one thing passing name and address quite another passing credit card details - Steve D replies to SteveD| 2 repliesPhillip Mason and Joanne Moores are real (maybe married now), Louise probably her real name but you wouldn't have got her surname!
- D.T. replies to Steve D| 1 replycall me stupid but if they are giving their real names why not surnames
- SteveD replies to D.T.Surnames aren't given for privacy reasons. Some Call Centres may not have a problem with giving surnames, but especially in this day and age when you can find out so much information about someone it's probably not a good idea. And with a Call centre where you're scamming the caller definitely a bad idea!
- D.T. replies to D.T.forgot the one, for red hot information email barnynance1@gmail.com I will pass on information from a friend
- Christina ReisslandI would probably never have found out as I was going to Germany for a X mas holiday on 22 November 2010, the day when £99.99 were taken out of my current account by Free and Easy 08712242255 without telling me or me giving my consent or giving them my bank details, and one month before X mas when everyone is busy buying presents instead of checking their bank statements for fraud you are not expecting.Even though it is a long time ago now, it's still crime which I'm going to report to my bank. I've tried calling their number several times, but it's always busy.
- steve replies to Tina| 1 replyThey are still going in 2014.
they tried to scam my wife but after talking to Barclays they cancelled her card and put a cancellation request in so even if they do try and take the money. Barclays will refund it.
it disgraceful that this is still going on - exemployee replies to stevethey are based in Barnstaple they force their staff to lie or be sacked, they upload space system customers details to the free time database and half the tim don't call them just automatically debit 99.99 from the bank accounts, they are illegal and immoral, because Pressplay do other order lines no-ones detials are safe so beware if you purchase rox flawless eyes, sole gliders, ace tv, renovators, or nono hair removal unit.
but please remember although you are rightly angry the girls and lads on the phone are just pressurised to do their job, if they state they are in Barnstaple they would be sacked on the spot.
if you call pressplay 01271 336336 the staff are trained not to respond to any queries and if pressed will terminate the call, don't try to get through to jenny Meredith or scott cleverdon as they never take calls
im so glad to be out of that hell hole, if I can help anyone please donot hesitate to contact me - Amanda Coles replies to Very Angry Lady 2013| 8 repliesA little annoying to see my name & personal details on a post of this date after leaving the company in 2012. But hey Ho ask me what you like I'm not saying I agree for 1 second with the process however this tittle tattle from ex employees & current ones is a little ridiculous! Your helping nobody just delaying the inevitable that yes unfortunately you have been debited £99 & yes I'm sure it is bloody frustrating but hand on heart just call them one & ask for a refund & this will happen! You never see anyone saying they didn't on here!!??
putting a little girls details born in 2011 is disgusting, ex wife of Philip you are vile. It's one thing slating him but if anything you just sound pathetic, but bringing up his daughter......how is that helping anyone wanting to know about a leisure club?!
Anyway I don't work there anymore & this was going on way before my time & will continue long after. The best bit of advice I can give is just cancel & if needed ask for a refund that you will receive in full! If this doesn't happen THEN get irate - Amanda ColesOh & "Steve D" I'm pretty sure I've worked out who you are..... must be hell of a bitter to take such an avid interest in this 4 years after your departure?! Your sadly not achieving much!!
- exemployee replies to Amanda Coles| 3 repliesI see you are not denying its all based in Barnstaple and not Marbella as they try to make out. Its fraud to keep peoples card details and its also fraud to take orders on paper writing down card details just because their systems have gone down, the company needs shutting down and Scott , Philip et al need prosecuting for false representation and fraud
