Just had this I agree it could be a scam definitely don't call back!

Me too, phone rang once and then stopped. This type of mystery call really winds me up, but I never try to ring back, especially if it's an 0870 or 0871 or other strange-looking non-geographical number. If it were something genuinely important, they'd ring back, or let it ring longer, and leave a message if they didn't get an answer.

In an idle moment, I did enter one of those daft morning TV competitions very recently, online, and had to enter my phone number so they can ring when I win my thousands of pounds. I wouldn't be surprised if this is one of the ways your mobile number finds its way onto phone lists for marketing and general annoyance purposes.

Same here.  It rang for two sec and then gone.  I am not going to call them back!

Just called me now and they hung up as soon as i answered.
I was on virgin but i'v been with t-mobile for about 7 months :S

Same here, it rung twice and then hung up. This is the second time they have called. When I called back it also asked for my reference code, must be a money making scheme !

Same again, 2 rings and they hung up. I'm on O2. So annoying!

got a call from the same number at about12.15 today. When l answered, the person hung up. [***]!

Definately a scam. Number called me today 19th Aug at 13:56, rang once then hung up. If you dial back (I used a company land line) its a prerecorded "please enter you international or UK destination number"

I found this on google re: 0871 numbers (http://www.0871numbers.com)

got a call today from this number let me know if you have been charged as i called back as it was on my work mobile, though it may have been a client

Just called me, after two rings I picked up but line went dead.
Have had the same issue from two other numbers: 01792350023 and 01554754901

just had a call form this number. won't be calling it back. could be scottish power, they are awful for ringing and hanging up.

Received a call from this number today, it rang twice then stopped, thansk to this website I didn't waste my time in calling them back.

It would appear to be a way of generating cash scam

2 missed calls of this number for me today, and my phone didn't ring out. I've been getting nuisance calls since I posted my CV on a well known jobs website.

Just had my first one from this number. Checked it up on saynoto0870 and there is no listings for a geographical number. Not that I would ever contact someone on one of those numbers, but they won't be getting any revenue from me, the phone they rang has no credit and very rarely gets any (£5 every 3 months if it's lucky).
Will definately be reporting it though. We get enough spam in our email, now it's spam on your mobile. When will the insanity end?

Also received a call from this number today. Before I had chance to get the mobile out of my pocket it had stopped ringing.
