Getting calls from 0882439200 every few days when answer they just hang up if you ring the number back there is only a message.. anoying I think it is harrasment via the telecomunication code act 474.17.

Same deal. Would like to know how to get rid of them.

I too keep getting calls from this no. Is there no way these calls can be stopped. Its so annoying, but now I know others have been getting the same no. I"ll just ignore them. Still annoying though. I did answer one time, and a lady asked for me by my name and then hung up, crazy.

phone rings no-one there at times will even get as far as message bank. have informed telco to trace line.Hopefully they can prosecute them under the nuisance caLLS LAWS

I've been getting calls from 08 8243 9200 for months!  They are in my phone as 'Annoying Bed People', because the call is about winning a bed, even though I never entered a competition.  It's apparently a legitimate company (according to DNC Register), but the complaints listed here go back two years.  I don't know any competition which runs for two years without anyone winning...
I called the Do Not Call Register complaints line and got the company's name and contact number.  The company is called Craftmatic, and their number is 1800 886 168.  Another person had called the DNC this morning about the same thing.  Craftmatic called this other person at about 9am, then again at about 3pm, same as with me.  I put my PRIVATE number on the DNC Register, but this will take 30 days to come into effect.  After that, if I receive any more calls I can lodge a formal complaint.  Other than that, DNC suggested blocking the number with my phone company.  I have tried to do this before, but there is a lot of red tape and not much help.
So I called Craftmatic and talked to Lola.  I had to give my details in order for them to be taken off the call-list...  She told me that if I didn't enter the competition, then my details had been purchased from another company.  The details of my PRIVATELY LISTED telephone number...  I will contact their IT department to find out who they purchased my details from, and then contact this company.
Does anyone else who gets calls from this number subscribe to any magazines?  I started a new magazine subscription last year, and started getting these calls about a week later.  Coincidence...?

I got my first call this morning. I suspect they're just trying to populate a database with phone numbers and then sell that information to another company for telemarketing purposes.They hung up right after because all they need is to verify if the phone number is active (i.e. someone picked up the phone)

This number called me twice today. When I answered they hung up. I called back and a machine picked up and said "after the tone leave a message" and then it cut out.

Have been recieving calls from this number for a few weeks, same circumstances as everyone else has described.  

Has anyone else discovered the Legal Orders recently imposed on this company by the Federal Court?  Link to ACCC web page and copy of the court Orders is given below:

Orders are enforced by the ACCC, and relate to breaches of the Trade Practices Act - specifically, 'unconscionable, misleading and deceptive' sales and marketing practices.

Suprisingly, no mention of the widespread public harrassment being perpetrated by their Call Centre.!! Might be worth flagging this with either ACCC or the Commonwealth Ombudsman.

have contacted telstra and they traced it to an oveseas number. They have blocked it from being able to call my mobiles, as it was ringing both phones simultaneously.

Its a free service but needs to be activated
It simply dumps there call in the exchange before it gets to ur phone
No more unwanted calls :)

It rings but I dont answer it becasue I am also weary of random calls in the middle of the day. I punched 0882439200 into google and found all sorts of nuisance posts. looks like its quite common.

Thanks also for the tip of Legal Orders - I will be sure to remind them when they call; lol.  Sad to note that the ACCC are powerless to act, and the  Commonwealth Ombudsman are more interested in convicting people who complain.

Just think, you could make our pollies look bad if it got out they let corperates the right to misuse electronic carrage services.  Like an ISP who transmits virus content over the wire in Australia while under contract to be a Anti-Virus wholesaler...

Just got one..It must be an automated calling system. They are checking to see if the number is live. If it is I BET we all get some call in the near future to see if we want to buy something or change our ISP

I have too been getting these calls everyday a bit after 9:00am , I can not answer because i am at work all the time, but to then see everyone else is getting these phonecalls its very stange

Got a call yesterday at 8243 9200 at 1:44pm, only get a voice recording message service when I call back????? Have no idea who this is and why they are calling me.

Hey I got a call today and I rang back a couple of times and then checked my bank balance - im not happy - it has cost me like over $3 to ring them so DO NOT TRY! Going to ring Optus and see if they can block my number from them

This phone number is driving me insane how do I stop them from constantly ringing me. I tried to ring back on a couple of occasions and people mumbling in the back ground but no one there to speak to me.
