multiple anonymous calls purporting to be from Exenergy Ebbw Vale. I also have caller preference but as these calls come from India not much can be done. However I did ring Exenergy www.exenergy.co.uk  and spoke to someone who just put me on hold. I have reported this to Offcom and Watchdog.Not very optimistic thoughWe get about 5 or 6 a week. My advice is keep them talking and feign interest and they give you a name and number to make an appointment with a salesman.

Someone just phoned up offering me loft insulation. Apparently the government will pay 100% of the cost because i told them I'm on benefits and have 8 people over the age of 75 living with me. What's my postcode? SW1A 2AA. First line of the address? 10 downing street. Last name? Cameron. First name? David. Thank you sir, "AJH insulation" will call you tomorrow to arrange a survey, can you give me a pass phrase so that they can confirm who they're talking to? Sure - "f-u-c-k-y-o-u".

Then a "quality assurance" rang me from "EGCL Insulation" to confirm the details.  Muppets.

Same as all previous.......persisted for my surname and a password for the next local Insulation company - had to tell them Six Times not giving them my surname - very persistant!!! and password I gave them in the end was EGCL lol

However, they did know my PostCode!!!! Bit worrying!!!

I just received a call from the EGCL and it was precisely the questions as the other callers.

THE EGCL CALL WAS MADE FROM 07721098179. THEY HAD INDIAN ACCENTS BUT HEAVILY DISGUISED AS EUROPEAN. IT WAS VERY ANNOYING.  THEY KNEW MY POSTCODE AND ASKED FOR MY NAME. STUPIDLY I GAVE THESE DETAILS AND NOW I'M REGRETTING.

18:15  Just had a call from "John", an Indian sounding individual, who asked for the householder, and asked when the house was last insulated.  He said he was calling about the Government Grant for loft and cavity wall insulation.  I am TPS registered and asked how they had my number "it was off a register".  I said  I should not get these calls even if it's 'on behalf of the Government'. He said that it did not matter that I was TPS registered and continued to try to give his sales spiel.  I asked what his company and from where he was operating and was told it was EGCL, operating out of London.  I asked for their phone number and was told they don't have one ... so how could he phone me?  They are a pain in the proverbial xss.  

How come I can't have their number, but they have mine, despite being TPS registered.  Needless to say, when I dialled 1471, it was "You were called today--- we do not have their number".  It's about time it was illegal to withhold telephone numbers.

I book taxis who give me my address when I begin to say from where I want to have the taxi to pick me up.  They have systems to recognise incoming phone calls.  No wonder they have your postcode.

Got fleeced for £11 on Dec 27 by the 092319 scammers. Phone company relatively unsympathetic!
