at the start of 2010 customers around the Exeter area had their lines 'hacked'  crooks had placed premium rate phone calls from roadside cabinets.  the crooks the collect the revenue from the Networks(who take a cut)

I haven't actually had this problem.  I was just alerting you to the possibility that this may be happening in your case.  Unfortunately unless other people from the Brighton area report the same problem it's almost impossible for somebody to prove this is happening here.

many of these relate to these Adult Lines and they are not all lying about not making the calls.

Even when the localised billing/complaints pattern clearly indicate the network has been compromised the Networks will insist the calls have been made from the bill payers phone and therefore responsible for the bill.

Phonepayplus is the Regulator responsible for 'policing'  these premium rate services (they are completely useless).

Under the Phonepayplus Code of Practice these calls should have a forced disconnect to prevent the calls going over 20minutes (to protect the against huge bills).

Have you a list of the calls on your bill?  Times, durations and costs for example.

Just received my on-line phone bill from Talk Talk [11.1.11]. I have eight premium rate phone numbers charged to me, all of which I did not make totalling £74.31.  Premium rate numbers on bill are 09828739995 and 09828739994. I live in the Portsmouth Area. Is there anybody else who this has happened to?

This number appeared on my bill and I have never called it. I actually never seen this number before. I suggest you refund this charge from my bill or I can seriously speak to lawyer to solve this problem.

Just going thru the process of trying to sort out a talk talk bill for an 87 year old lady who has £1600.00 worth of calls to this adult chat line number from  Oldbury, Birmingham. She hasn't made any of the calls, they were made from 10.30pm until approx 4am in the morning, she is at her wits end and has had her phone barred including her lifeline which she carries around her neck in case of a fall.  Talk Talk have now lifted the bar on local numbers and are looking into this problem.  If she dosen't pay or it's not sorted within 90 days she will receive a red bill then who knows where it will go from there, baillifs ???.
This shouldn't be allowed to happen in this day and age to an old lady.  Has anyone in this area had any problems of a similar nature?

Had similiar experiences through Talktalk, January and February 2012, same number 09828739995. I live in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Talktalk have been less than helpful even when initially I pointed out that its an obvious scam judging by googling the number. Bills totalling £150 though but I cancelled my direct debit and just paid for the calls I DID make. Actionfraud and ombudsman are dealing with it at moment and i've asked for premium rates to be blocked. I wait with baited breath for Marchs' bill.

this has happened to me we never rang this no,same thing ,,babe station,,talk talk say that are line maybe crossed but they just cut us of when trying to sort it,they pass us from one guy to the next then we just get cut off,we are not paying the bill,its bad that they just cut us off

Do you live in the same area? Dont know the answer to this as i speak to one person at Talktalk who says they'll stop hassling me (their words) and then i get a demand via mail and another phone call from them. I think they need a few lessons in effective communication!!

hi i am a disabled pensioner who lives in coventry , i have only been on line about a month also having house phone o2 , i have just been told i owe 347 quid . The only other person here is my grandson who i will be dealing with later . although the times they say the calls were made was 3 - 4 am when he is supposed to be in bed asleep it needs investigation , from what i read here i cant do a thing about it except block further calls .

I am in the Northampton area and have just received a bill for £155 for 12 calls made to 09828739994 and 09828739995, made at times when no-one is in the house!!  Anyone else had this problem in Northampton??????????

Finally, after having outgoing called stopped by talktalk, I have had an apology, the line reconnected and the bill recredited this took several months of calls, e-mail and letters,and finally a letter to the chief executive. The premium rate number is still blocked and I hope action fraud can deal with the perpetrators although it is doubtful that whoever is responsible will be brought to justice. keep fighting.

my bill says i have called  this number and i havent i ve been charged £6.50 from t mobile.

11 calls showing up on my bill to this number between 12.15 and 1.30 on the 17th aug - absolutely no way these calls were made!!! I'm with T mobile, having investigated a little on the Internet it seems landlines have previously been hacked across the country concerning this number - anyone know if this is possible with mobile networks? Anyone else had this problem?

i am disabled too and on benefits and going through a divorce and i have been billed 335 pounds for these numbers yet i dont live with anyone and were out wen they started and now been barred. i never made these calls and talktalk wont listen to me i dont know what i should do i cant afford this and need the net and landline for emergencies. any suggestions i live in bradford west yorkshire

they just been really arrogant with me i said i would go to solicitor and ofcom but they aint bothered and i still have to pay

I have just received my O2 bill through for nearly a £100 when checking it i have noticed that i have been charged for phoning a 09828739995 which i know full well i haven't phoned. This is appalling i cant afford to pay this as i have a family to support even more so when i know full well i didn't make the call!!
