- losyuyosReceived calls from this number several times in the last few days although we're on a do-not-call list. Decided to pick it up this morning; no messages had been left before. Caller, who sounded Indian or Pakistani asked for my husband, using both first and last name. I asked what it was about. He said "about some grant money." I said, "No, thanks," and hung up. Hopefully, there won't be any more calls from this number. I'm sure the call is part of a scam.

- HoneyBearBaby| 1 replyThe guy sounds Hindu or something calling about a computer problem with Mictosoft software on my computer. They want me to log on my computer so that he can do a walk through to help me correct the error. Sounds like a scam.
- Caller: Microsoft
- Peter TeresaI may be wrong but I believe that this phone number was used to hack into my computer. The person with an oriental accent never identified himself. I thought it had to do with a previous problem I have had that was corrected by a person with an oriental accent so I went along with him. He actually prodded me until he got all the information from me that he needed then he hung up. Later, when I sent an e-mail to someone, I noticed that 2 e-mails were being sent at the same time.
- Caller: unkown
- Johni got a call from this number 123 456 7890 as listed as "unavailable" and when i answered all it played was scary elevator music by what sounded like all bells. I'm afraid this is how horror movies start.
- Caller: unknown but disturbing
- ShanI just received a call from this number and I didn't go into great detail for them. I asked them who they were and how they got my number. He was a man with a very thick Hindu accent and it was hard to understand but he told me he has my number because I use Microsoft. I asked where he was calling from and he said from e-solve because my computer was running slow. I said please don't call here again and hung up immediately. I definitely wouldn't trust this call!
- wayjayWith any telemarketing call:
I was at a business communications seminar a couple weeks back - and other than the usual snoring through a bunch of bored guys droning through their presentations and waiting for the free lunch - one tidbit I have been using since then is:
1. Answer all phone calls - known number or not.
2. In the case of programming your answering machine:
A) Record ``Hello'' and that's it.
B) Wait 7-10 seconds so that their VOIP can connect and then begin your message with:
``Please stay on the line to leave your message'' and then
``Thank you for calling. You have called a number that is
on the Do Not Call Registry. This call is recorded and your
number has been electronically traced. The trace has been
automatically reported to the authorities. Further communication
from your location will be escalated to the U.S. Government
for further action regarding harassment.''
When the Telemarketing Act goes into effect in Summer of 2013
rewrite the script to include that information and the penalties therefor.
If you are answering the phone live to an unknown number, same thing:
Answer `Hello' and wait for their VOIP to connect.
Then say:
``You need to transfer this call to your supervisor at this time.''
Repeat until they comply. If they refuse compliance, say:
``This call is recorded and your number has been traced.
Your noncompliance will be reported to Government authorities for harrassment.''
If the telemarketer
A) can't get a word in edgewise because you keep repeating yourself like a recording, and
B) has been scared into believing that their actions have been monitored and will be reported
you can bet that your number will be flagged in the telemarketer's system as a ``problem''.
Eventually all the telemarketers share all their ``problem'' numbers with each other so
they can save money not having to call them all - even if they ARE on virtually-free VOIP
It's better than the Do Not Call Registry. - 1234567890 is stupid!!!iv never recive the number yet, but my real friend does, for some reason, they said somethin like
: hello, tonight, im going to kill u wen no ones there

- The Good FairyI received a call from 1-123-456-7890 with a man with an Indian accent saying that my Microsoft Word system had been sending out repeated error messages to them, and they would help me fix that. I was suspicious, and hadn't seen the number yet. I called Dell, thinking it was them, and they assured me it wasn't. Then I contacted a family member at Microsoft who said they didn't do that, and it sounded like a scam, which is what I had thought. I had asked them to call back, and when they did, I said I knew they were a fraud. He hung up then.
- Caller: Microsoft, supposedly
- The Good Fairy replies to HoneyBearBabyThat is exactly what my call was, but it sounded fishy to me. I investigated, so when he called back, as I had asked, I could tell him I knew it was a scam. No argument from him. Can you imagine if I'd given him control over my computer?
- JenGot a call from 123-456-7890 and heard some female voice say good-bye and hung up. What is this?
