They called, didn't leave a message.

I found out yesterday that when you sign up for a new phone number, land line or cell, that if you don't sit there when signing up and tell them you want to opt out of your number being sold to telemarketers that they release your number.  They basically sell your number to all of these telemarketers and then the calls never stop.  I called the phone company yesterday because I get tons of calls and especially from this 202-367-9197, told them to opt me out and to stop releasing my number.  My phone privacy is not for sale.  The crazy nuthole at the end of the line just hung up on me when I told them to remove my number so I am going to call back and have some fun with these people since they like to interrupt my day, Im going to interrupt theirs.  Please everyone don't give them any of your information, not even the fact that you don't have any credit cards.  Any info you give them will give them more ammo to call you back.  This sucks!

Called my Cell for this same reason!!

They didn't leave a message! Must not have been important enough to CALL MY OFFICE! God I hate telemarketers almost as much as the, "Witnesses" or, "Saints" that come knocking on my door, uninvited, at 8 o'clock on a Saturday morning!

They called my dedicated emergency line for my city, which is a serious criminal offense. The first time in August they hung up on me. This time I used the information provided in others' comments to call Priority Direct Marketing and asked them to have someone call me back by close of business tomorrow, or I will pass the matter on to my police department. Does anyone have an address for that company? I do intend to pursue this.

I had a discussion with one guy, by bullying him a little. He must have been new because I didn't let him say anything until he told me the name of the company and the their contact info.  He did give me a legit website (to a credit couseling agency). He was Apparently too stupid to hang up.  I told him to stop calling me.   I got another call today, which reminded me of this.  I'll try to get back here and post the website.   I suggest we notify the Federal Trade commission. Further I think there is a way to sue if you've told them to take you off their list and they continue to call.

they actually had the nerve to call during school hours...SCHOOL HOURS! do they not understand what that means? The blasted thing went off in the middle of class...I'm lucky that the thing was vibrate. but still, what are they doing calling a high school student anyway?

They called me on my cell phone. Didn't answer. I was at work and didn't feel the vibration. It came up Distric of Columbia. I don't know anyone there. I called it back six or seven times and all I got was a busy signal. Oh well.

I am sick to these people calling me how did they get my cell # and now they are leaving messages on my voice mail about credit card rate, free trips that i won, tv instalation appointments, and wanting my info i have not hear a live person only a recording and to press #'s to get a rep but when i ask ?'s about them and to have them stop calling a wired clicking sound happens and then the phone goes dead and when i call back the # is not insercive

pain! tried to call back to chew them ou - threaten them etcetera but fast busy - set not to receive inciming calls! [***]!

Wish we could stop this and put them out of business with a big law suit.

This company is calling my minor daughters cell phone. I pushed 1 and a woman answered. I said your calling my daughters cell phone, she grunted and hung up. When you call back you just get a busy signal. I'm reporting them to the BBB.

Received call on our UNLISTED telephone number at 9:32am on 1/19/09.  Name on Caller Id was "Card Services".  I strongly suspect that this is scam.  Why?  Because what valid business legitimately tries to acquire new clients on a federal holiday?  Not to mention apparantly using an autodialer to generate the unsolicited calls in the first place.

Thanks to everyone who posted.  I have been rec'g calls from this number recently and I didn't know why.  I just happened to be busy when they would call so I would forward to voicemail.  Today I decided to call back and the call goes directly to a busy signal.  I recently applied for a Macy's credit card and a used car loan.  Perhaps there could be a trend of a company selling our phone numbers to scammers and spammers.

I recieved the call from 202 367-9197 once at noon but i didn't pick up.
Hopefully, they will not call me again.

called verizon cell this am 10:22...unknown...I did not pick up....i am on do not call list

This is stupid. they have called my cell 20+ times and they hang up after i say hello. this is crazy are they going to pay for my bill for my phone. Just stop calling already.
