U can block them from calling ur phone

Just received call from this number on my cell.  Said it was US Grant Dept.  When I did not respond in any way, he was quite and I just hung up.

Just got the same call, same number, same horrendous accent, offering the same $7,000 from the federal government basically for being a good citizen in the right demographic.  They really shouldn't call a white middle aged small business owner and try to use the "I'm in the right demographic" angle to sell that my government is giving me ANYTHING.  Everyone knows the US Government is in the TAKING business, not giving, especially when it comes to my demographic.

Anyway, all I had to do was call some Brian Jackson guy back to confirm and the money would be wire to my local Western Union office.  

It was a little creepy when the guy with that kind of accent had my correct information (name, address).  I guess when you consider we live in the age that I can Google my own name and a couple clicks latter I am looking at a drive by image of my house, it is not so surprising.  Still creepy!!!  

Bottom line... never, ever, ever, under any circumstance, ever give out information to any unknown person unless you called them (and I'm not talking about calling that Brian Jackson guy back, that doesn't count).

Got a call from this number telling me that I won a $7000 grant from the government. I told him I wasn't in need of a grant as I just graduated college and he said the money wasn't for education and could be used for whatever. I had to call someone else named Mark to confirmed I talked to this man (Supposedly named Karen) to tell him I wanted this money in one of three ways 1) bank deposit 2) credit deposit or 3) cash
The man already had my address, name, and phone number Only thing he didn't already have was the fact that I am married. Creepy. This is the first time they have called that someone has actually been on the line. Though they call several times a week if not daily. Really getting fed up.  

Got a call from this number today, said they were from US Govt with a $7000 govt. grant, no taxes no interest, don't have to pay it back.  All she needed was for me to Western Union her a $320 security deposit.  The deposit would be refunded.  Where's the beef?   Is this part of Uncle Obama's stimulus plan?  We need it.  Send money.  Semper Fi

I actually tracked the number. 202 621 5429 that keeps calling but I don t answer number I don't recognized because they are usually telemarketers that never call back twice. However I received several calls from this number and decided to try calling back since it could possibly be someone I just didn't have in my contacts. Anyway it traced back to Washington, DC. Other than that I didn't feel like paying to learn their name and actual address. So yeah, whatever that means...

I did recently fill out my FASFA though so who knows..

By the way when I traced the number it was confirmed as a landline.

Keeps calling me

I got a call from 202#  telling me that I had received a grant for $7,000. I new it was a scam who gives out $7,000! okay right! what's next? what do you really want from me $320. So, I thank everyone for posting and letting everyone know that they are a scam..

This number keeps calling and hanging up. Annoying =/

Calls 15 times a day.......I never answer just blocked it.

Same.. they'll pulled cell phone number, name & address from somewhere.  Told the beeatch too use the $7k to repay govt debt. She hung up.. Scamarama.

Ya, I just got one of these calls 2 minutes ago.  It's 1:54 pst. 010914 Thursday.  I went to the link about how to be put on the do not call list.  http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0113-government-grant-scams  

When I first answered the call, I didn't hear anybody.  I paused, the I heard a young make say, "hello, hello"?  Then a frustrated tone in his voice, then a hang up sound.  I Googled this number: 202-621-5429.  I immediately got on do not call list, and book marked this number titled scam call.  I tried to call back to see if any body would answer but the phone line was busy.  Imagine that?  Very interesting.  I did telemarketing for about four years, but I never did telemarketing like that!   Here is how I deal with these kind of calls.  I really really slow, "heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellooooooooooooooooooooo" over and over and over again and again, until they give up!  It's hilarious to them say that things like, "never mind"!  Have fun with that!  Some people never grow up.  Or are natural dirt bags?  I think I will write a song about this!  hehe....cheers!

The people calling are people from India living in D.C. They have no other skills but to scam you. Oakomosa from American greed is doing that to. Death to indian scammers and foreign scammers too. Get a life, get a job, don't call American numbers we don't want you! Pencil.

Me too! These people call me at least fifteen times a day! It is awful hearing my phone ring that many times a day and then when it rings and I dont look (cause Im thinking it is these scam places) it is my husband or other family member! They call and call! I can easily change my number, but that is such an inconvinience!!

This needs to stop ...total scammed ...saying they are a Washington dc police dept.with info about me.. ...

If you have an iPhone you can do something about it. touch or slide your thumb to that number it will popped up a settigs scroll down and click Block this number that's it!

If you have an Android just pressed your thumb on the number and select Add to reject list.
