Got called 2 times tonight.  Both 213-232-3224 and 213-232-3239.  Ugh.  Wish I could easily ban these like I ban e-mail addresses.

Looks like 213 is from Los Angeles and I don't know anyone there.  No one said anything when I tried to answer.  What's going on here?

We live in the Midwest, moved to a new home / new town and have had our new telephone number for two weeks.  These people are driving us nuts.  We've had three or four calls in rapid succession, then nothing for a couple of days;  then they start again.  I called AT&T and they want to charge me to stop these calls.  NO THANKS !!!!

We're the consumers that everyone pretends to be so concerned about. Why can't we stop these nuisance calls?  We pay big prices for telephone service but our hands are tied and "nothing can be done" unless we cough up more money.

Make sure your phone is on the Do Not Call Registry.  You can sign up on line.  If the calls continue go back to the Do Not Call Registry web site and file a complaint.

Looks like from this thread this has been happening since 2009. And now it's reached my house as of last night at midnight and 2am.  Cox says they can't tell me who "owns" the phone number, but if the numbers are harassing me or calling after 9pm that I should file a police report. Maybe if we call file police reports something can be done..

Used to get repeated calls from LA Times which was a similar number.

Cox also suggested I pay them $5 a month to block the numbers. Sounds like their way of generating revenue in tight times.. it's probably them calling me.

What about that TV show "fight back"..

It could be a vumber calling... A Vumber is a virtual number that people can get and you can program it to say the phone is not in service and you can forward it to any phone. For example, I can get a "vumber" for my cell phone, even though my cell already has a number. It would be as if my cell has 2 different numbers, but I can program it to say the number is not in service when someone call my "vumber". The user can choose any area code they want for their vumber. Check it out at www.vumber.com I stumbled upon this site a month or so ago.
