I got a call from 213-504-7000--Lady left a voice mail saying this is her last "courtesy call" etc... Left return # of 888-442-0788. I do not owe any bills. So, I figured this for a scam!!!

Just got one of these too.. from the recent last 10 mins activity, I guess this person just started up their scam again :P

They actually left a message!  Rich Johonson from 213-504-7000.  "Sorry to not get back to you sooner about the credit card program we discussed... blah, blah, blah...".  I know it's another scam call because they left the message on a cell phone that I don't give out the number, and I only make 2-3 outgoing calls per month.  Didn't leave a call back number, and it's just as well...

I got the same message, from the very perky "Angela Brown".  Something like, "Hey guys, this is Angela Brown.  We spoke last week about getting a reduced interest rate on your credit cards...blah blah blah...and since you're only making minimum payments, I'm sure this could work out really well for ya."

She's my buddy!

Sorry, Angie, but, uh, we are paying well above the minimum payment, thank you very much.

Received voicemail from Angela Brown.  She stated, "Per our ongoing conversations, she has a program  to lower my interest rates on my credit cards, thus reducing my monthly payments".  She offered a return phone number, 888.442.0788.  Interesting enough, my credit cards are paid off and I've never spoke with her in the past.  I signed up for the National Do Not Call List today and now I'm receiving calls. This is the second call today.  Any chance the NDNCL is not legit?

Angie is apparently a busy girl.  She said "we spoke last week", but that's not possible because I don't answer calls from area codes I don't expect a call from.   You know it's a scam, probably trying to get a credit card number from me.  She should be ashamed of herself, making calls like that. She needs a good spankin!

A recording of Rick Johnson just called me from this number offering special credit card rates. Scumbags.

Now thanks to google, and now that i know it's a scam, I wish i could actually call this girl back and talk dirty with her.. If she can annoy people... why cant I? :)

It's not a scam. It's a debt consolidation company who is cold calling under the guise of "accidentally" calling the wrong number and leaving a message. They are trying to entice you - "gosh, I'd love to have 1.5% on my cards, too". Chances are, if you got the call, you have had something in a public document that says that you have, or have had, a lot of debt (A house is a lot of debt), but not always.
Technically, there isn't anything illegal about what they are doing. It's not even shady. And yes, people can negotiate with your credit card companies on your behalf. Many consolidation or credit counseling companies have pre-agreed terms with the major creditors, which allows them to say "we can lower your cards this amount". It is an annoyance, but they don't have a history of multiple calls. It's an interesting tactic to say the least, but it doesn't hurt you - don't get so defensive.

Received a call from these folks today at 12:49 p.m.  Stayed on the line through the fake "lowering your interest rate" spiel, then pressed "1" to be connected.

The woman who answered asked me for my name.  I asked her who I was speaking with, and she said something along the lines of "debt consolidation services."  I then asked her why I'd received a marketing call on my cellphone, which (as I understand it) is against the laws.

Pause.  Then, she said: "It's not against the rules for nonprofits, so you need to get your facts straight."  Click.

Called back 30 seconds later and was automatically routed to a message asking me to press "2" to be removed from their list.  I pressed nothing, and after a few moments the call disconnected.

If they call me back, I'm reporting them to whomever I can.  Hopefully this gets stamped out soon.

I just received the exact same message from Angela Brown.  Leave me alone!

I got a call from a lady who said this was the last time she would follow up with me about lowering my credit card payment - in half. Never talked to anyone about my credit cards. The are lying. Should be investigated to determine if fraudulent.

Just got a call from 213-504-7000. The guy said similar things. Something about how we spoke previously about getting my credit card interest rate lowered.

Wanted to enlist me in a program to reduce credit card debt.  No idea who these people are have never contacted any company like that.  Didn't say what company they were.

I received the second half of a message from this company in my voicemail.  The part I heard said this was their "last courtesy call" and I could call them back at 888-442-0788.  My number of a private company DID.

Caller in Angela Brown, left VM saying she is calling back and we spoke last week (did not!) and she says they have a program for me that can lower my credit card interest rate since I am only making minimum payments. Ha! I don't have any credit cards.

I am on a do not call list and this piece of garbage keeps calling.  then when you hit one to tell them it is illegal to call me they hang up.  They were trying to give me 1.5% credit card debt.  I need to know who this is because in AZ I can get up to $5,000.00 everytime they call me.
Please some one find out who the f this is!

Listen turd.  I get 3 calls a day from these people and this number.  They hang up on you when you get hem on the line to tell them it is illegal.  What do you mean no one gets hurt and don't get so defensive. Who are you to tell me what I can and can not do.  They are doing something wrong.  It is illegal when I am on the do not call list.  They are breaking a federal law.  And it is people like you that are defending these [***] [***] h o l e s.  So, lets have your number so we can call you all damn day and say "Sorry wrong number"  Di ck
