Is it better to just screen anonymous phone numbers than to answer them?  I never answer when I do not know the caller.  If they dont leave a message (obviously not important enough for me to call them back)  or like this fellow here that called from this number left a message.  Dont know him.  Dont call him back.  Thats my motto.

I got phone call from this number every day, If I can stop it by applying 'Do not call' ?

I blocked the idiots who call from this number on their toll free line.  They start calling me on their non-toll free line.  I do not need the service they are offering and am on the DNCR.  It was a recorded message with some nit wit pretending we had previously talked. Just block the [***] and reprot them if you are on the DNCR.

just now, a call coming in. about 10:33 am. playing the voice record, told me some credit card info .
let me type number 1. so strange. I was busy for thinking an importand solution at that time.

Gee mine's from a guy named Mitch who's found me a way to really bring down my credit card debt!

Credit Card Consolidation SCAM

I got a call today (5/5/10). Recording of someone called Rick Johnson who was "calling back about the credit card" that he and I had apparently been discussing :-)

I did this exact same thing with the same call. Said his name was Rick Johnson?

I just got the same call ON MY CELL PHONE which I don't casually give out! Pre-recorded message from "Rick Johnson"  who was 'getting back to me re: lowing my interest rate"

Just got a recorded call on my cell (which is on the Do Not Call List) from guy about my "minmum payments", as if we had spoken previously. Call was from 213-504-7000 and the call back number given is 800-310-9982.

Just called back the number that Michelle mentioned.  A women named "Eva" answered and said that they could "save me a lot of money".  She then wanted to know what credit cards I had.  So i made up some bogus information.  I told her i had a credit card with Capital One with a bogus balance and another card with Chase, also with a bogus balance.  She then said that with my current debt it would take me 8 years to pay it off (wonder how she figured that considering i didn't tell her my payments).  She then said she could save me $1480 (random number).  Then she made up some BS about interest rates with each company and said to know for sure, she would need to know the exact balances on each card.  I told her i didn't know those off hand and would need to check my statements and call her back.  She then gave me her call back information:  

Eva with "Debt Relief" at 800-310-9982 x1303.  When asked where they were located, she said that they were "nationwide" but they were located in Idaho.  

So everyone feel free to spam the spammers!

True, and it is tempting. But typically, people who work with these companies, while perhaps getting a reduced rate for a while, don't realize by negotiating with the company their credit score takes a hit, which may or may not be more trouble in the long term. Beware!

Got a call from this number today.  Simply didn't answer it.  If it's not a number I recognize, I'll let voice mail screen it.  Then I google the number...usually brings me here.
