On Friday, January 18, 2008, at 7:30 pm, after 4 rings, my phone answering machine started to give my "Please leave a message..." routine, when the caller hung up, (without leaving any message). Caller ID showed "Illinois - 217-735-2128." Some other people who have received calls from this phone number suspect that it came from the FOP, and I think that's a strong possibility in my case.

called at 8:00pm.  Left no message.  Called back, but mail box was full.  Voice was male.

Picked up - *beep* - then nothing.
Hung up.  Then looked up online.

This is what you call phone spoofing which means the person calling can masks its real number by using somebody elses number. And is currently legal,hard to trap with a trace to actual number. We need to contact our congressman and get a bill started to make it illegal.The Lincoln police has issued a statment about it on their web site. And yes I'm on the No Call list.

Call received at 7:58 pm cst.  The person really upset by 14 year old daughter.  They asked questions like are you parents home?  How are you doing? This is the police department.  We will call back later.  

I will call the Lincoln, IL police department to report this as well as my local PD.

Number on caller id was 217.735.2128 Davenport A.  I did a reversal and found the address at 1105 N State St Lincoln IL.

Let the machine get it since I didn't recognize the number, they hung up.

I was out shopping when the call came. My 13 y/o son answered it because it said Davenport... our family is from Davenport IA. They asked how he was? If his parents were home? Said it was the police force and they would call back later. So he called my cell to tell me thinking it was some sort of family emergency in IA. I called the number and got the mail box full message also. So, I found this site.... thankfully now I know that it's not an accident or something.

Before finding this site, I called the number back, as we have lived in Lincoln, IL before, and recently visited, thought maybe a friend was trying to contact us.  This is the first time we've received a call from this number.  We live in Missouri.

Additionally, we just placed our number on the 'no call' list about a week ago. Related?!

Called me at 2:22 pm.  Left no message. Did not answer because did not recognize caller ID.  Glad I googled the number to find out this might be a scam.

I got a call from this number on 03-28-08 @6:23 p.m.  Sounded like someone was there, but no one answered and then it sounded like they hung up.  Can this not be stopped?

Just got the call at my mom's house. Not sure who it is, we didn't answer. I tried calling back on my cell, and got "Thanks for calling. Sorry we missed your call....Sorry we missed your call." Then "Mailbox is full. Sorry."

four rings it stopped before I got.  id gave this numbers find out who it is, and put them to sleep.

I got this call tonight.  Called back and the answering machine said "Sorry we missed your call"  Then the mail box is filled up.  I bet!

I got a call from this number yesterday.  I was planning on calling today to find out why this girl was calling our house but wanted to research her first.  I'm glad I found this website.

Fraternal Order of Police...how do you stop these guys...they are rude and persistent.

I just recieved this call today for the first time.  The caller ID said Davenport A.  It was a man asking for donations for what I couldn't understand.  He was speaking so fast, and at the very end he said that I will receive a pamphlet in the mail if I donate a small amount of 20 dollars.  I told him I wasn't able to do so, and he insisted that I at least say I would donate.  I told him "sure, I will donate zero".  And he hung up on me.  Is this sort of thing even legal?  It makes me mad how no one really has privacy anymore with all these telemarketing calls.  Its getting out of hand!

Same thing happened to me.

I just got off the phone with Lincoln Police and they said that this man lives in Texas and making these phone calls.

She said there was nothing that she could do. It was outside of their jurisdiction.

Her best advice was call the phone company and that number blocked. I guess that's what I'm going to have to do.
