Answered call without looking at caller ID (it was "Illinois 217-735-2128). Caller claimed to be from the Illinois Police Patrolman's Association. Said they wanted a contribution, sent a form with a donation form to IPPA at 47 West Polk Street Chicago, IL 60605-2000.
Not sure if this is a legitimate call...envelope mailed Presorted first class in Dallas-Fort Worth from PSI (whatever that is)!!!!!!
Googled Illinois Police Patrolman's Association and got a similar set of e-mail reports about a number in the 815 area(8152326585). Same MO probably the same scam!!!!

This number called my phone #, we weren't home, no message left by them.

The call came at 3:26PM CDT on Aug. 4. The answering machine picked it up, and they left a short message of heavy breathing and giggling. Sounded like a small child.

I got a call from this number today.  Hang up as soon as the machine picked up.  I see now that the caller is not cool.

They've been calling me, and I finally convinced the guy to take me off his list, supposedly. He was looking for donations for a police association. (I don't remember the exact name) He told me they were running an anti-drunk-driving campaign. If they call again, I'm calling the Illinois Attorney General.

I answered the call and the caller said "Can you hear me sir?"  I said "Yes." That was it.  The caller did not hang up and never said another word.  This isn't the first time.  Definitely a scam.

been getting a lot of these calls. same as everyone else. they call and hang up when answered or refuse to leave a message.

I got a call today frm this #. When I picked up I heard a beep and then call disconnected. I looked up the phn # and this is who its registered to..

ok folks, i live in lincoln

here is the deal on this number and phenomenom,

my brother lived in this apt b4 1105 n state street last year, he had no phone while living there.
this person is spoofing the number and address and name,

this address is real and is an actual apt, but is not where the calls from this number are originating

we even got a letter in the mail from some mangry person claiming that these 2128 calls were coming from our apt but they arent/werent..

the phone system is allowing some type of spoofing even with a real persons address..

it is a real big mess.

gt this call last night 10-9-08. they hung up on me. It's the same name and address listed above because i did a reserve lookup and found info. i tried to call back and it said mailbox was full.

I got one of these calls, they asked for my husband (knew his name) i said he wasn't home, could i take a message and the man hung up.  creepy!

I just got the same call as the previous person.  Did the same, asked for my husband, he's not home and he hung up.  Every day for the last week, this # has appeared on the caller ID.  really creepy!

Got a call from 217-735-2128, Illinois call, didn't answer, and left no message. This is about the 4th or 5th call in the last 2 months.  I have no idea who this call is from.

2 rings - no one there

Got a call this evening (6:17 Pm, Sun., Nov. 2)from 217-735-2128 on my home business line.  When my answering machine picked up, the caller (whoever it was) hung up without leaving a message. Used reverse lookup at www.anywho.com and found out it was listed to an "A. Davenport", State St, in Lincoln IL.

Called three times before noon asking for my wife. When I asked if they wanted to leave a message they hung up. When I answered their successive calls they hung up immediately. On their next call I will threaten to kill them.

Called on 10/9/08, 10/16/08, 11/24/08 and 12/2/08. Never leaves a message. Will set my call screener to route it to my fax machine.

Just got same call no one answered. I am calling police to report. I do not need this crap !!!!

Complaint from an individual that caller represents the  Illinois State Police wanting donations. When told no got very abusive.  After victim hung up was called back by same telemarketer from # 254-296-3024 out of Waco Texas.  Again very pushy.  victim hung up agin and report incident.
