receivd call from 243-345-6789 and he was looking for Mr. lopez. I told him he had wrong number and he just hung up.

Reported 16th, Mar. 2012. looloo0ATTENTION !!!!530 area code!!!! If you call 243-345-6789 you will end up calling some totally innocent people because (243) is not a valid area code in the us so what you are really calling is a 243 number which is not the number calling you!!!!!!! (243) is a valid PREFIX in the 530 area code. Please dont be rude, you need to report the problem to AT&T, beleive me they are aware of the problem! This number is originating in Africa. If you insist on calling them back you must use the international code before dialing.Please educate yourselves and dont be dumb!

Got a call from 243-345-6789 and let my answering machine pick it up.  No message was left. I don't answer calls from numbers I do't recognize.  243 is NOT a valid area code.

Love this website... it rings, I scan for the number and I'm glad to see someone has already scoped it out.  Let it ring, answering machine got it, they hung up.  REAL people leave message!

Received a call today.  This is a company selling solar panels.

prefix 243 is valid in quite a few area codes across the country,  So you are right in that dialing the number will will connect the caller with quite a few innocent people. However, there is a way to "fool" caller ID so that it returns whatever number is programmed into the dialing equipment. Once the equipment detects an answered call, it will identify the number as a valid number. The number can then be used to build a marketing list or in the situation was involved in, the answering number was used to place 3-way collect calls from prison.

If the caller's identity is "UNAVAILABLE" then so am I!

I got a call from 243-345-6789. My answering machine took the call. They didn't leave a message. I tried to look up the Area Code at

but there is no such Area Code!

Got a call from them.dude said he wasn't trying to sell n e thing. Indian dude claiming to be Kyle something lol yuh right. This is Peggy. N e way saying he don't wanna sell n e thing but tellin me I'm overpaying. Then I hear some white sounding lady n the back ground saying mrs Chea. SMh. Scams now a day. Get real.

243-345-6789. I pick up the receiver, and hear nothing. It happens several times a day. It is so rude.

So a number in sequence like this is already a huge red flag.  I mean, come on!  3456789?? I answered and there were a number of clicks and tones before someone said "hello?" Then, they couldn't hear me possibly, because they hung up.  I have a block on my phone for unknown calls that have to identify themselves before getting through, but somehow this one got around it.I would love to be able to block all phone calls from area code 243, as I don't even believe that is a real area code.  Somebody needs to stop whoever is doing this.

I work in a medical office our phones have caller ID and this # keeps calling and hanging up. I will not be picking up anymore.

We have been called 4 times in last 3 days from this number. When I don't know who it is I don't answer. I did some research and that is a country code 243 for the Democratic Rebuplic of Congo in Africa. It shows further that it is a city code "Bas-Congo, Bandundu     +243    3"  As everyone else has said they don't leave a message.  Total scam.  I had calls from a Washington state number in January. It was a scam too. This site is great place to check out numbers.

Somehow this number gets around my call blocking.  Caller ID shows Unavailable but number shows up.    I click the phone on and immediately click it off hoping it jams their system or something.   HATE these scammers.   WHY can't FTC shut these people down?   They are useless!

Received a call from this #, answered it and they ID'd themselves as Green Energy.  I said we already had solar panels and to remove my name from the call list. Said they were in Modesto ----  ???

We had been receiving between 20-35 calls a day from telemarketers.  Try getting something done!
I report every one of them to the Do Not Call Registry, 888-382-1222, which sends the complaint to the CA Attorney General's office and the FTC (Federal Trade Commission).  I have also had AT&T activate the TOLL FREE BLOCKAGE feature on my phone.  This does not block UNKNOWN CALLER calls.  

I had totally lost my temper, my zen, my mojo.  Now I play a crazy old, lonely, hungry lady and say my daughter has taken away all my checkbooks and credit cards.  I have such fun!  My story gets better every time I tell it.  I am now down to 2 telemarketing calls in 3 days.  Heaven!  I have also told them if they call again I will blow my police whistle and break their ear drums.  You don't really want to blow a whistle as you can be sued.

Cricket:  LOL!  In total frustration I have a written script next to my phone.  I have decided to out-perverse these harassing perverts.  I answer in a very cheery voice, "Welcome to Pedophilia Anonymous.  Para Espanol oprima numero dos."  This is usually as far as I get and they hang up.  When I use this approach, the calls drop dramatically for a few weeks and I spend the rest of the day laughing instead of being angry.
