Charles Demes sounds like a SCAM!!!!!!!! Calling about my ex-husband who I don't speak to. I REFUSE to trust this person because he is telling me that there is money due to me from my ex-husband in some way and he can't reach my ex-husband. Really???? Try a little harder Mr. Demes, you found my number...why don't you call him directly?I don't want anything to do with anything from him. Stop calling me...It is getting annoying. I said no thank you once.  Oh and by the way people, the BBB is not to be trusted either. Companies probably pay for their A rating. Those who don't pay get F ratings whether they are good or not....so I hear.

we checked him out with louisiana BBB and he is legit......we mailed notorized letter giving him permission to do a recovery over 8 weeks ago and can not get in touch with him now....email,phone doesnt seem to work.....will contact BBB soon to see if they can help

we will be patient and see what happens. i know these things take time. i believe he is what he says he is

Got a letter one week ago, then an answering machine message just now stating a former neighbor of mine has an inheritance and can I please contact Mr. Demes with my former neighbor's current address.   Uh-- no.  Mr Demes has assistants that are paid to find these people.  Where's my "finder's fee" for getting you in touch with my old neighbor?????  I'm not an enabler.

yes you are correct about the BBB.  They will take the money gladly.  Why not?  Even they are struggling in these times.

I got a letter from Charles Demes in the mail stating an attempt to contact someone I have never heard of.  I called my mom, and she never heard of him either.  The letter stated, "If you are related to this person in any way, or if you know how to get in contact with this person, please contact our office as soon as possible."    Even though he claims to work in recovering unclaimed assets, my guess was its a front to get collections.  I decided to google his name and found this page.  I'm very skeptical in this day and age.  Since I do not know this person, and even if it was a name that I did, I will not be contacting him.

Just Google "Unclaimed money" and do a search of your own.

After I received a letter from Charles Demes at Capital Recovery looking for my deceased brother, I did and found what he must have been referring to. Mr. Demes makes a living searching for unclaimed money, then contacting the person, (or more often it seems, the heir), files the paperwork for you and charges an high percentage rate of the recovered money to do it. His business is perfectly legal but why should you pay him when you can easily do it yourself and keep all the money?

On the aside: I emailed Mr Demes, explained I had no information to offer and asked him not to contact me again.

I guess what they are saying is "we have found the asset and will help get it to you but our cut is 30% of the asset.  The fee is what they charge because they found the asset.  They really can't collect anything unless you agree to their conditions.  It's how they make their money.

Also, they are not about to tell you what or where the asset is unless you sign otherwise you could get the asset yourself without paying them their fee.

Wouldn't you just be able to investigate yourself into any family deaths in your lifetime. Hopefully for most of us it's not a long list haha

If all negative letters, which is concerning. How about reporting them to the Better Business  Bureau they belong too!!. Don't just assume. file suite or get a lawyer to check into it for true verification even if you can file a report with the police. all for good back up. Again don't just assume. but know the adage what sounds good might not all be good either.
