I love these "debt collectors" who posted here, calling people who owe back medical bills "losers" and go on and on about how we should just pay our bills.  Um...sorry, folks.  I lost my job after TWENTY YEARS and my husband is also out of work.  We are more concerned with keeping our home, keeping the lights on, and keeping food on the table than we are about medical bills that we obtained because a stupid INSURANCE COMPANY refused to pay the bill from the hospital he was taken to by ambulance because it was "out of network".

From what I've been hearing, there are a whole lot of people in this country right now who have never missed a payment in their lives but who, due to layoffs and such, are finding themselves in the bad credit boat.  You cannot pay out more money than you have coming in, and when things get bad, people protect the things that are most important to them.

We once had a debt collector (Chrysler Financial) give me a very hard time about our truck payments.  I had tried to take the truck back after we both lost our jobs because we could no longer make the payments.  They suggested we find someone to take over the payments, which we did.  They then would not permit us to sell the truck to the buyer (wouldn't even run his credit application) until we caught the payments up--which we were unable to do.  When I explained the unemployment situation, the response was, "Whose fault is that" and I was told that the economy is just an excuse people use not to pay their bills.  By the time I hung up, I was LIVID.  We took the truck to the nearest dealership, told them who were are, and handed them the keys to the truck.

I have ZERO respect for debt collectors.  I know most of them are people just doing their jobs, but the tactics they are taught or told or permitted to use are just plain WRONG!

when you DO get a message from this company, the person leaves a first and last name (i.e. "Will Ridell")... you call back and ask for such a person and IMMEDIATELY whomever answers the phone says "oh they've stepped away from their desk, how can i help you?"  Sometimes if you say you'll call them back they say OK and le tyou hang up.. other times they keep talking about how they can help you, etc etc  etc... so annoying.  i know they do Apartment Exchange collections as wel as Wash U physicians.

Hey BILL COLLECTOR, Learn How to spell before you automatically start calling people names.
    1. LOSERS----not LOOSERS
    2. ARRANGEMENT-----not ARRANGMENT

But, I guess that's why u are an underpaid LOSER!

FYI- Some people have valid reasons for not paying a certain bill, NOT because they can't afford it DUMB A$$!

Be careful with this company, do not pay anything until you verify with your own records that you actually owe what they are trying to collect.  They are under investigation by the Federal Trade Commission and States for collecting on bills that are not owed, were previously paid long before collection started, full amount of doctor charges when you have insurance with a contractual amount.  They will try to collect the difference above the contract amount even after insurance has paid the agreed upon amount.  They also have been known to try to collect debts from people not responsible for them. So don't pay them anything without making sure you actually owe it.

I received a call on my cell phone from this number. I did not answer it and they left no message. I did a little investigating and found that the number belongs to a collection agency out of Maryland Heights, Missouri which is a suburb of Saint Louis. The name of the company is Consumer Collection Agency.

This number appears on my phone every few days. They never leave a message. When I am able to answer their calls, no one responds, they just hang up.

The person calling our company was rude on the phone and uncooperative.   My advice: don't give any information to these people.    The person calling from Consumer Collection called our retail business rather than a home phone number.    We don't have time to talk to them about individual accounts.   We are running a business.

A previous post left this number 314-432-2430 which I called and was put through to a guy who was polite, friendly and dealt with my question. All I gave was my phone number, he gave sufficient information and offered to send the bill but it was clear immediately it was mistaken identity.

Got 3 calls from this number in the past two weeks. Gives a first name and last name. Polite, but didn't indicate what he wanted. Hung up the first time, and didn't answer the last two.

This phone number had been calling my father and leaves a 1-800-325-6611 number for him to call back. My father had a heart problem and with the rudeness of this lady named Cathy harassing him she did not only  threaten my father's life but also my mother's. My father told this lady that he is willing to pay , but he wants to mail it, the lady insisted that they only do it through credit card. My father asked for the address and name of company but they wont give him. So, I talked to the lady and she was really rude, asking me to give my name, I told her I want to know her company's name so I can check, she keeps insisting that I give my name first, I told her I want to know the name of the company, as it is our right to know, she raised her voice and demanded her term. I told her about BBB and she belittled me as if she was right. All I want is for this to stop bec they are targetting the old and vulnerable. This is a CRIME and they are killing people buy giving them a heart attack.

Complying with FDCPA regulations is all fine and well.  However, that does not excuse rudeness.  To my knowledge being a "Collector" is a "Profession" which requires a certain level of "Professionalism".  Rudeness is not a characteristic of professionalism, nor is it an effective means of collecting on an account.  So it seems to me that most of you "collectors" don't realize that us "poster" are not very responsive to rudeness.

Also I find it interesting that you actually believe "we" should appreciate collection agencies for keep medical cost low.  If collection agency's were truly that effective there wouldn't be a need for collection agencies because "debtors" would be able to pay their medical expenses at the time of treatment.  But as a "debtor" I appreciate your thanks.  It's the least you should offer in exchange for the bonus you get for collecting on my past due account.  I guess by your logic, "collectors" should remember that without "debtors", those bonuses that you've grown so accustomed to would not be possible.  Maybe "collectors" should keep that in mind on future collection calls to "debtors".

Hey Looser!  I'm a U.S. citizen and I don't negotiate with terrorists.  How we afford attorney's while being in debt is simple.  1.  Some of us have filed bankruptcy and the attorney who represented us handles calls about debts that were included in our bankruptcy.  2.  We sue for harassment by documenting the calls and voice mails left by jerks like you, who are employees of the collection agency.  While it is legal to call debtors in effort to collect, it is not legal to harass.  Once we win these law suits, we add in our legal expenses in with the final balance owed to US from your employer.
