I realize that some people think "just pay your bills and this won't happen to you" but unfortunately one day you will find out that it's not always that simple. Sometimes people have circumstances that don't allow them to just "pay" these bills. Like someone else said on here... Sometimes it comes down to feed your children or pay a medical bill. Even when you do have insurance some people cannot afford a lower deductable insurance. As much as we would all like to be self righteous and tell everyone else how easy it is I know that bill collectors don't make that much money. I used to be one myself and you get paid crappy and get talked to crappy at times yourself. If you're going to be in this business you have to understand and accept the fact that you are probably harassing someone that is already stressed over their financial situation and you calling them does not make it any better. So please take my advise, as you are technically in the customer service business you have to present yourself in a kind, understanding and polite way. You get WAY more results from sugar than vinegar. If you are hostile the person you are on the phone with will be too. You are the one getting paid crappy wages to make someone elses day even worse. Just remember that and try to be pleasant instead of holier than thou! Trust me, you may not be on a collectors call list today but someday you will be.

TheYes, I agree with you, Working Hard. I have had a car accident in 2010 with an open book pelvic fracture, bladder torn off at the bottom, as well as severe perineal damage, including nerve damage from splitting up the middle. I didn't "plan" or "budget" the 14 surgeries I have had thus far to get me walking and the 1 month in SLU's ICU or the nursing home stay for TWO months. I was a RN who paid all my bills on time. I am getting calls from this place, so glad I came across this site to find understanding people. Your post said it well. Many on here did. Thanks.

This lady called and harassed me about a $400.00 bill.  I told her that her records were not correct as I have been paying the medical bill off slowly as I am able to.  I also have been paying the medical bill directly to hospital where I had seen the doctor and not through CCM.  The amount they show is the original amount (back in 2/2012), but I only owe the hospital less than $150.00.  CCM has not updated their records.  Also, the lady was extremely rude, "be-littiling" me and was raising her voice.  She said the call was recorded and I sure hope so, because I will be contacting their "higher ups".  In addition, the doctor that I saw, left the country and although I made attempts to see one of her colleagues (the nurse said that I would be set up with one), no one would call me back regarding my spine surgery in which I had to find another doctor for this.  I had the surgery done at a different hospital with a different doctor.  Can anyone answer my questions below?

    THREE QIUESTIONS:

    1.  By law, do I have to pay CCM or can I pay my debt to the original account holder?
    2.  Would this situation be considered "patient abandonment".
    3.  Are medical collections allowed to report medical bills to my Credit Report?

DOES ANYONE KNOW THESE QUESTIONS?????????  PLEASE HELP!

I got a automated message from this company on my voice-mail 3 times.  It was not for me, but some guy I don't even know named Jeff.  So I deleted the voice-mails.  They called me back  and this time I answered the phone and after the automated crap was over they connected me to a real human, and I explained I did not know who Jeff was.  The lady on the phone was very rude to me and said she knew Jeff could be reached at my number and that  because I had stayed on the line after the automated voice message that was a agreement that Jeff was at my number (now in her defense the computer voice did say that by staying on the line I was agreeing that I was Jeff R****** and was agreeing to their terms of service) .  I tried to explain to her that the only way I could get them to quit calling my number was to stay on the line so I could talk to someone and let them know they had the wrong person/number. That I wanted them to please stop calling me.  She then told me she didn't believe me and was really rude, until I hung up.  By rude I mean  she basically said they would take me to court to pay this guys bills and garnish my pay....blah blah blah (she must have assumed I was his girl friend or wife or something).  I just calmly explained one more time that I had never heard of the guy and please take my number off their call list and when she started lecturing me again and calling me a liar is when I hung up.  They call me back every Friday now around 9 a.m.  I don't answer it anymore.

Stared out pertaining to a medical I owed and I explained that I go to the Veterans Hospital and I was told I had to meet a spend down at the VA.  I requested something in writing and they told me they weren't the post office and then asked for banking information and or a valid credit card.  I told them to please take me to court because if I owe a bill I always pay and if they wanted to persist in this line of calls I would notify my attorney and the better business bureau.  I also told them I had never heard of the Medical facility in question.

I got a call today rom this number on my cell. I didn't answer as it showed up as "unknown" on the caller id. There was a message left so I listened to it. It was a woman telling me that it was a debt collection agency calling for me to pay my debt. So I called back. A woman answered and, without even asking me my name, told me that I owe $1,800 dollars in medical bills. I told her that I haven't been to a hospital since I was five to which she responded, "Oh, wait umm… You only owe $250." So I said, "Oh really?"…. There was a really long pause and then the woman hung up….  Scam? I think so.

I periodically get a call from these Yea-Hoos because of medical debt.  Bloggers be advised, I have contacted an attorney who specializes in Collection Practices.  I was told each and every time they call and refuse to identify WHO they are and the name of the company they represent it is a violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection act.  EACH time you are called before or after 8am to 5pm and more than twice per day, that is STILL another violation.  It means if you have a medical debt of $2,000 and can prove at least four violations at a $1,000  fine for each violation of the Fair Debt Collection act, this Whacked collection agency not only has to have the debt entirely erased and dismissed, but they ALSO have to pay YOU an additional $2,000 in money for all the harassment!  Keep phone records and when you talk to them be sure to say, " For quality assurance please be advised this call is being recorded.  What is your name and what company do you represent?"  I can guarantee not only will they hang up on you but will stop calling completely!  LOL

    Donna Taylor, Laura McCarter
This company has been calling my friend Laura McCarter asking for me everyday at 5 pm for several months. She has not received anything in the mail. I do not live with her and do not know how they got her number. It is an automated call so you can not ask to talk to someone about getting something in the mail.
