called 08.30.10, left a voice message that was 2 minutes and 42 seconds of silence

They call me 20 times a day and when I answer they don't say a word. I can hear them breathing. Traced it and it has to do with colleges and continued education. I also believe it is related to spam emails. All I do was get car insurance quotes and now every online university is calling my cell.

Called four times in two days without leaving a voice mail, would like to find out how to get them to stop calling?

Yes, it seems we all have the same problem. I guess they stop eventually. They're from New York and have something about University Finder or College Information. Many of us are signed up on scholarships.com or applied for an online scholarship at one time or another.

Asked for my husband by name, but hung up when I asked if there was a message. Rude, and maybe just "scouting" who is home when?

I stupidly answered this because they wouldn't stop calling and I was taking a nap. Normally, I never pick up unfamiliar numbers, but I was waiting for a call from the university I already attend. So when I picked up and I heard something about university, I was willing to answer the questions. I asked to clarify what university the call was from, and I was told "university finders" which I wasn't familiar with. But the man on the phone explained it was because I had signed up for more college information...which was something I did the day before on campus...to get more information about professional schools. So stupidly, I continued to answer questions. Until we got to my address and the man repeated a very very old address of mines and an abandoned email address. I then realized it was rather weird so I told him I was busy and hung up. I'm a bit worried that this could lead to identity theft...which is why I'm posting here, to warn others.

They're at it again, folks. This number's been calling me 4-5 times/day, sometimes late at night. I NEVER answer, and when my answering maching picks up, they hang up. My caller ID says 'Oswego NY', and I don't know anyone there. I'm also on the do not call list, and I've reported them. It's not doing any good. I do know never to pick up, I've also heard that you should answer and continuously hit the pound (#) key, which is supposed to fool the auto-dialer computer into thinking it's reached a non-working number. I used to do that, now I just let the phone ring. It's annoying, but it's better than getting charged or having to talk to a telemarketer.

I don't know why this number call me daily, and refuses to speak when I say "Hello"

They called three times today asking for my daughter, each time they were told that she's out of the country for two years and this is no longer her cell phone.  Claimed to be "College Finder" and hung up as soon as hearing she wasn't available.

I just the FBI to report them and I was told that unless they have commited a crime there is nothing they can do!   I will put them on a block through my cell phone company

This number keeps calling my cell and but won't leave a message. When I answer no one speaks and the call is disconnected after a few seconds.

Has called house 6 times in last week and no one is there. When I caled it back it was a voicemail stating "customer service" but no company name identified. Anyone else know?

After reading through these comments, I'm almost positive that these people got my number through scholarships.com. I never pick up and they never leave a message. I have tried calling me back but whenever I do no one picks up and I am automatically disconnected. They won't stop calling. I'm reporting them to the FCC.
I'm on the do not call list, I guess I need to install that app that blocks numbers?
Oh, and I have AT&T...so it's not just happening to those with Verizon.
