    I know no one in Iowa, and have been called by this number and no message has been left. I carry no debt, and do not now nor have I every had directTV.
    I do not pick up on unknown callers, and will certainly never answer this number.

    Well, Scott, I have to say that DirecTV has a practice of continuing to bill after customers call to cancel their service.  Happened to me.  I canceled Direct TV in October of 2009 and was billed through approx. March 2010 before CBE started harassing me.  

    So, Scott, you see the situation here is not necessarily your power to authorize harassment as it is about your admission to committing the crime of it - as well as theft.  I had to change my checking account in order to stop the theft of my money by DirecTV after canceling the service.  Should I have my attorney call you?  With your social security number?  Or call your mother, perhaps?  Or threaten your siblings?  As you've authorized CBE to do to me?

    I have been getting hangups from this number twice a day on my cell for weeks. The caller has never left a message.

    I do not now nor have ever had DirectTV; I carry no debt outside of a mortgage; I have had the same cell number for over a decade.

    I finally picked up the call on my cell, and a recording asked me to hold on for a representative.  Eventually someone with a such a strong accent came on that I had to request  that he  repeat himself. He asked  to speak with someone who has a common first name (not  my gender let alone my name, and no last name) and when I asked him what the company was he was calling from, he said CDE (thought might have been CBE, hard to tell with the accent) of Waterloo Iowa, and refused to tell me the nature of the company's business ("Its personal") and hung up on me.
    I am sorry I picked up the phone, as the purpose of the call  appears to be some kind of data gathering. If it was an honest collection agency there would have been more questions to try to locate the debtor, and not so quick to get off when I started asking questions.

    I was customer of DTV for 12 years until I discovered that they were billing me $20 more per month than they were billing my own Brother for the same service package and # of receivers.  I tried for months to get them to correct this issue with no success.  I subscribed to their "Total Choice" package  and they were billing me around $95 a month with no premium channels whatsoever!  I had 1 HD receiver and 2 standard receivers and the local channels plus the protection plan.  Then my HD receiver started having problems and when I called them to send someone out  (I paid extra for years for the maintenance and equipment protection), I was informed that I would have to pay my past due balance which was maybe  a couple of days late before they would send anyone out to fix my problem.  I told them I was not going to send them anymore money until they gave me the adjustments for over  billing me $20 a month for the past year!!!   So that is where the relationship ended.  They wouldn't come and take care of a problem that I had paid extra for every month for years unless they were able to collect for the past month of TV I didn't get to watch because their equipment was failing!  Needless to say, they never admitted their billing error, even though I had the proof in my brother's (and others) billing statements.  Additionally, they attempted to bill me  a termination fee as well as for another month's service that I didn't receive and some ridiculous amount because I didn't send their piece of junk receiver back to them by a certain date.........they (DTV) finally credited me back for the receiver, but that's it.  For awhile, I just sent their bill back to them with an invoice attached for them to reimburse my account for their overcharged fees.  That's when they turned it over to this CBE group.  It will be a cold day before they get me to cough up another cent to this SHAM of a company.  I figure they milked me for over $11,000 during those 12 years.....they can write off whatever they think I still owe them.

    I keep gettin calls from CB group.  Thank heavens for caller ID.  They ask for a particular name and then ask me to push #1 if I am not that person.  So far I just hang up.  But now I am getting better at looking at caller ID before I answer.  The frustrating part is not having any recourse to complain to.  After reading other comments it seems this is connected to direct tv.  I have never had or want to have direct tv.  We are on the do not call list, but there seems not to be any recourse.

    I cancelled DirecTV and they did not send the boxes for returned equipment.  When they finally did send them, they told me I owed for three more months.  I returned the equipment but refused to pay the extra amount.  I did offer to pay one month extra so they would quit calling but they never replied to my offer.  They call about twelve times each week and I refuse to answer.  I have saved all emails to and from them.  I have Dish at home and it works perfectly.

    You guys are great! I'm sooo glad that I Googled this number before answering. They'd been calling me once or twice a day every day for the past 2 weeks now! They are now successfully programmed into my phone for a more effecient screening :)

    We never signed an agreement, they do not have our social at dtv and these people keep asking me to "verify my social" I said SURE...give me the first 3 digits and I will verify the rest (yeah right)...but she could not. Its because dtv did not run credit or ask for a social when we did an online sign up.  We were with them for 3 years and they kept raising the rates, and over charging us. It took them THREE MONTHS to finally get the boxes sent to us to ship the equiptment back and they ARE TRYING TO CHARGE US FOR THOSE MONTHS....WE DIDNT HAVE YOU...WE WERE USING CABLE THE DAY WE CANCELLED.  We will NOT pay you one cent of the 3 months it took you to send us boxes to return the equipt. Nice scam you have going. Luckily, we taped all SEVEN calls when we requested boxes, as well as the cancellation conversation.DONT TRUST DTV...EVER.

    For the last 2 weeks I've received a call from CBE every morning between 8:30-8:40am.  Most of the time it is a recording, but twice it has been an actual person asking for "Richard".  We get calls from various companies all the time searching for this "Richard" person, and I always inform them we just recently got a home phone service, and the number must be recycled.  "Jill" informed me I was refusing to cooperate with her, and the company would be suing me.  I replied that this was absurd, and her empty threats did not scare me.  She began asking me for personal information about my husband and myself which I refused to give her.  I repeated that we do not know anyone named Richard, no one by that name lives here, and I would be sending a cease and desist letter to the company.  

    I mailed out a cease and desist yesterday via certified mail with return receipt.  We'll see it if actually does any good or if I need to take further steps.  We have never had DirecTV service, and I do not appreciate being constantly harassed over someone else's problem.

    I too have been getting these calls - didn't know who they were and  have not answered, now I know and don't have their service.....calls are annoying .  These practices should be stopped.

    Just got a call from this number on my WORK cell phone, one assigned to me and the number is published nowhere.  I didn't answer it.  I'm assuming that they either called a wrong number, or someone put down a bogus number on their DirecTV account and skipped out on the bill.

    We'll see if they call back.

    Found this number in a Los Angeles Craigslist post listing a $5000 car for $1500. Obviosly a scam but scratching my head on exactly what the scam is given the rest of the posts here, maybe just fishing for more phone numbers to solicit from?...
