    Ok, I work for these guys right now(trying to find another job) and we are told that we are NOT making cold calls and the people we call have magazine subscriptions that expire within 3 months of the call date. So if your magazine expired less than 3 months ago, we will call you and try to get you to renew it. Buying from Ebsco IS cheaper than sending in the card in the magazine etc etc, but I see that even people who attempted to be put on the no call list for Ebsco are still being called.

    We are instructed not to leave messages(which is why you never get messages). There are many of these call centers all over Ohio and when we call and hear an answering machine, we click a button that supposedly means that you will not be called again that day, but from the comments I see people are getting calls all day. I can't explain why that is but I am sure the system is messed up somehow since it is handling all these phone numbers.

    Really, I hate working there. I joined the company because, though I hate telemarketers, I was told these would not be cold calls and people would want to renew these magazines. From only working there for the past week, the shear number of people I have talked to that have apparently been called many times even though they asked not to be called, is astounding.

    Here is what you SUPPOSEDLY have to do. Next time we call you, ask right out to be put on the no call list. If the employee does it right you should never be called again after 24 - 48 hours. I don't know if that is true or not but, it's worth a try. and for the people that are wondering why they are getting these calls because they are on the federal no call list, as my supervisor explained it to me, you get called because Ebsco is hired by the magazines that you had before, and the calls are not cold calls. So they aren't random solicitations, which is what the federal no call list protects against.

    Well, I just wanted to tell you guys that I am going to tell the manager that I do not want to work there anymore tomorrow at work, so thats one less person calling you I guess. :D

    EBSCO was calling my house every week night at 6:30 PM. I did not answer until I finally was so upset that I did. They wanted me to renew my subscription to Popular Photography magazine. I told them I would not do it over the phone, but would do it by mail through the magazine.

    Now they have sent me a bill saying that that have not received the payment for the order I gave them over the phone!!!!! I am on the DO NOT CALL list. I will call the 800# and tell them to remove my name. I am also going to contact the magazine and let them know that I will not be renewing their subscription.

    We need to tell the magazine companies that if they use this horrible service we will not buy their magazines anymore.

    um, hi. I am a college student, I am getting a computer science degree. The fact that you said that says a lot about your intelligence. I actually decided not to quit just yet since I am still trying to find a different job, and I really hope we keep calling you Mr. Josh, just out of spite. All you people need to do is tell us NO. You will be taken out of the system, and not called again. Most of you people are likely the ones who just either refuse to answer the phone or just pick up, listen to the pitch, and then hang up like a moron. Tell the person no(even though we do offer the magazine subscriptions at a lower rate than the publisher but...whatever, I'm not trying to make sales here) and then you will not be called about that magazine again. Try to use that big thing in your skull for once...you know...that brain thing. Try it out sometime. Typing "DO NO CALL ME ANYMORE!!!!!11111!!!!!11!!!1!!!SJBFKS" on this site is not going to help anything. Seriously. I'm not making this up.
