- zue| 1 replyReceived on my bank account today a charge for 21.70. It was labeled "PAYPAL *ACTIVE JOE 4029357733 0" I checked and validated with Paypal that I had no charge from them for that amount and that date. I am reporting this as a fraud condition. I will call bank and stop payment today.
- zueOK, my wife opened her own Paypal account and this was her charge. It seems that when a charge is done via a website and not through Ebay that the format is different. Valid Charge!
- applicantI applied with paypal, this was their HR department calling about a position.

- No longer an Ebay BusinessI have also received calls from Paypal recently from this same number. I set up my ProStores Store, Set up an Ebay account, Set up my Paypal Merchant account, Sold 1 item on eBay and 2 items in my store within a coupl of weeks of each other. I promptly paid my eBay fees for the item I sold on eBay, the day it sold even though I hadn't been paid for the item yet. Shortly after my 3rd order, I received the verification call and "unusual activity" yadda yadda yadda. They wanted a list of all of my suppliers, and so I complied. They wanted copies of all of my invoices for my inventory, and so I complied. They told me that they were going to keep 20% of my sales for 180 days and I said fine. Then after I got off the phone with them, I logged in to my Paypal merchant account and found that it had been "limited" which means I could not remove any of the money in my account whatsoever. I couldn't even pay for shipping for my orders through my account. So then I logged on to my eBay account to let my buyer know that I would need to cancel since my Paypal account had been "limitted" and my eBay account had been frozen and had a nifty message telling me that the eBay corporation no longer wanted to do business with me. I could not contact my buyer at all. I couldn't even see any of my buying or selling info. I contacted eBya and they told me that although I had been an excellent eBayer and they appreciated my promptness in all matters, they didn't feel my business partners were the kind of people they wanted associated with the ebay name. OMG! What? So, Because I bought some stuff from someone they didn't like they were booting me out? So I contacted Paypal...Paypal told me the same thing that I was propmpt in my compliance and that they appreciated having me as a Paypal merchant, but they were not comfortable with my business practices and were going to hold my entire account for 180 days to prevent any charge backs and then would release the funds to me. Well, it's been that 180 days. Ebay, never returned my fees to my Paypal account, paypal took the fees for my merchant account including the monthly fees, along with charging the fees for my ProStores Store that they locked me out of. Now they are calling me again and I am sure it is due to the negative balance for which I had no control over. All 3 of my buyers I had no way of contacting, so I am sure they eventually assumed they had been scammed, but I had no way to contact them. They did receive their money back from PayPal, thank goodness, but they have been accumulating fees and charges for an account they completely froze the minute someone paid me. WTF?!!!! All of the money owed in my PayPal account is for Ebay Corporation fees that I never actively accumulated. If they tell you they don't want to do business with you and that you have no access to your account except to see the negative balance grow, then WTH are you suppose to do. I for one am not going to pay them for ruining my business that I had put my life savings into and charging fees for an account that they cancelled! I had to take my entire inventory to a pawn shop, because I had no money. It was all in Paypal! So they can go F*** themselves and run my credit into the ground. I don't F***ing Care! In this economy, I can not worry about such BS! If anyone working at or involved in anyway directly with the Ebay Corporation is reading this, F*** You and the horse you road in on! You cost my family their livelyhood and any chance at making it through this global DEPRESSION!

- BellaCharges that appear on CC say Paypal bc you might have bought something that uses PayPal to get your money. Since Paypal would be taken out the money that is what shows instead of the company or person. When the charges are seen go to your PayPal account and see what they are for. It will show you a listing of what has come out of your acct. you can also see the invoice it self.

googled the phone number and found all this information. Cannot believe that this scam has been ongoing for so long. - SidneyThis is paypal. Verified. I used the website to confirm a phishing email, and make sure my account was okay. The person never asked anything as far as completed information goes, and never gave me any completed information. He knew all about my account, and assisted me in changing some information that was not current. So yeah, this is a real number.

- Stephany in IowaThose of you who gave them information should check further. I got suspicious when they said they did not have that card information on file, and asked me for MY ENTIRE CREDIT CARD NUMBER! I don't really think PayPal would ask for that. Up until that time, it sounded like a real PayPal account rep.
PayPal has never had that credit card number on file, and that's where they tripped themselves up. Better watch your bills, folks.- Caller: PayPal Tropical T

Must be a scam - I've not used PayPay in over a year. Calling bank / visa now.... - omgActually Aries is not a scammer- this is a legitimate Paypal call-
- Lin EnnisI found this number beside a charge on my Discover Card. Called it to ask what the charge was for. When the recording began asking me to enter PayPal account information, I hung up.
I called PayPal, where one person said that was not an internal PayPal number, but now I believe it must be. It's the same number Discover had on file for PayPal.
In my case, the charge turned out to be legitimate; though it was not listed in my eBay transactions. My partner bought something from "NancyPink"--a name that didn't sound very businesslike PayPal-wise in "guest" mode, so the purchase wasn't listed in my account.
I learned that merchants often use PayPal in a sort of back door way that is not transparent to the customers. We think we're dealing with one entity, then the charge comes from another.
Here's a number from PayPal's website if you want to call: 402 935-2050
So, all of you who said you didn't do business with PayPal on certain dates are both right and wrong. You didn't deal with them directly, but you dealt with someone who dealt with PayPal on your behalf.
For me the mystery is solved...and an hour of my life is gone!
