I just got the same message left on my home phone.  I didn't understand a word they were saying, very heavy Indian accent saying that I own taxes and if I didn't pay it in 40 minutes, the police would come to arrest me. I was like WTFFFFFFFFFF... Then I started yelling them. they hung up on me and I tried to call back but it said they were busy. I reported this to the irs. They told me it was a scam.

Got same call.  I called back and talked to...James Anderson.  He even gave me an IRS employee number (342981).  Heavy accent.  He got pissed and started cursing and threatening me when I told him it was a scam.  Guy's so stupid, he called back an hour later and asked for me instead of my wife.  This guy's a genius.
    This is a scam.

I got a voice mail today from someone named Mr Cooper, when I called back the guy told me Mr. Cooper had left but he was going to help me - his name was James Anderson with a Hindi accent - strange the voice mail and the actual person had the same accent....
This person was rude saying to keep quite will he reads an warrant for my arrest because my taxes for the last 7 years were not accurrate with my refunds and I own $4600 to the IRS- he continued readind the document saying that 30 mnts after the call he was going to submit the papaerworks for my arrest, I was going to jail for 2 years and I was going to get a copy of the document thru a lawyer they will contact. Finally he said that I was going to a phone call and if I didnt answer they were going to withhold my assets and suspend my driver license and passport. I thougth how the IRS is doing this without sending me a letter first.
At this point I was trying to asked him questions, and he got so rude, that I told him, Im a US citizen, go ahead do what ever you need to do- Im going to call my lawyer. I guess he got scare because he hang up on me.
I assume that the second call was to try to collect money from me....

I saved the voice mail, I reported to the police and also to the security at my work since they call my work number....

I received the same call, 05/09/2014.  They called just after tax time, April 17.  I am not sure their ploy, it appears they are matching personal information, names to telephones numbers.  I would bet this is just another set of bad people, doing identity fraud.

Received the same type of call from 415-251-4089. Sounds like a variant of the Nigerian scams that have been going on for years. Unfortunately, these scams have continued for many many years because there are gullible people that fall for them. Especially seniors. If they weren't making money then they'd find something else to do. 20-20, 60 Minutes and others have covered these for years.

I told him to send mail, don't want to talk about anything on the phone, I will take it from mail, he said they sent mail already and know my address, I told him I will check mail first tthen hung up the call.

my big question was IRS works on Saturday? and ask you call back in 2 minutes.....

Okay, same thing happened to me.
The same number called me from Novato and I answered "Hello, God bless you!" They hung up and called right back. Only this time, the caller ID said "Name Unavailable."
I had been scammed out of money before, about 4 years ago, believing that I was "GUILTY" of something that I had absolutely no idea about. I paid EVERY PENNY :-/
    THIS CALL:
The gentleman that I spoke to said he was from the IRS calling in regards to a debt that we (my father) had and that a case had been filed against us and that we only had 24 hours to settle the dispute. KNOWING it was a scam and having a few minutes to spend (waste), I entertained him. LOL.
He told me his Senior Manager could explain the case better to me and would be able to find me a lawyer to help me. I asked him "since when did the IRS start calling people offering help from Senior observers and help people find lawyers? Why did we not receive a letter from the IRS regarding the debt?"
"I AM TRYING TO HELP YOU! I KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU! TOMORROW IS YOUR LAST DAY! YOUR ADDRESS IS ???! YOUR PHONE NUMBER IS ???! YOUR NAME IS ???!"
There are many questions he could not answer to prove his "authenticity" and he got annoyed. I told him I found those same information online about my family ass well and that I KNEW he was not from the IRS. When I had enough, I told him "God bless you and good bye" only to have him tell me "F you" over and over again in his VERY THICK Indian accent before I got the chance to hang up.
I found it hilarious because he had so much faith in his "game" but could not tell me my father's full name and sad at the same time because there are many people who will fall as a victim to these scams as I once did.
The main message here is: do not be afraid to question people who call you. This goes both to young adults as myself as well as older people who are not aware of the shameful scams. I should have known better when I fell for it the first time, but I was afraid to ask questions. NOW, I make it my business to question ANY and EVERY one who tells me I owe them!
I hope no one has to go through this and fall for it to the point they pay.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL and have a great rest of your day!

I received the call asking for my daughther. The person had the correct name and address. I asked who was calling and he reply that it was Chris Brown from the IRS. At that point I knew it was scam. I asked for the IRS office 800 and the address and he could not give that. He just stated that he was from the Bay Area. At that time I told him that I was going to report this call to the local policy. I told him that I knew I it was scam and do not ever call again.

I got a message on the voice mail from someone claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Service DEPARTMENT and their accent was so thick I could not understand what they said their name was.  They never said who they were calling for, just mentioned the last name and that we should call or have our attorney of record call because there was a discrepancy with the taxes.  He left the number 415-251-4089 and said to call immediately before the Internal Revenue Service DEPARTMENT had to take action.

Exact thing happened to me only I returned the call and was told that a warrant has been issued for my arrest and my bank accounts seized - the total I reported to IRS doesn't equal what "other parties" reported on my behalf - after I explained to "Mr. Cooper" that I had no idea what he was talking about he hung up on me - I called the same # back twice and got hung up on - TOTAL SCAM - I called my local police

Same exact phone message from woman with heavy accent. Why call from IRS if you don't know who's on the tax account ? When I called back to see who the fraud was, and asked for the same person, and then asked where there office was, the receptionist said " no matter" and hung up.  So use phone ID when you can.

Just got the same call.  Decided to entertain myself and talk to the little creep.  He told me in a heavy accent the same stuff as everybody else has said.  When I told him he was a scammer he said that I was going to jail.  I said sounds like fun.  Idiot just kept trying to convince me that he was really from the IRS. I finally got bored with him and said goodbye.
