I don't know for sure, but I think that its a telemarketer. This isn't actually the number that they call you from, they use it as their call-ID.

I got a call from this number and the guy said his name was Mac and was breathing kind heavy like he was out of breath, said something about Visa and Master Card and when I asked him to Identify himself, they hung up.

i get this call too. weekdays, weekends, all the time.

I think this is a long distance number.  Meaning when you call long distance you enter a phone number then the person your trying to call number.  ie like Worldline or VOIP service.  We got a call from Europe with that number last month and then a telemarketer today.

I JUST got a call from this number about 5 min ago. I thought I heard him say he was calling from ebay something- which I found weird because Ebay doesn't call people... He asked for someone in my house and I said they weren't home, then he said something else...he asked if I was home alone....I said I wasn't (I was home alone) but that freaked me out when he said that! He THEN said to me on the phone- "May I say something to you? You have a very nice and sexy voice.." I was shocked. He said "Can we be friends?" WTF! Creeped me out! I said no and hung up, ran downstairs and put the chain on the door! He did have an indian accent.  
Just hang up if he calls you!

This number has been calling me ever since the summer- it's a guy with an Indian accent and he always tries to make up a name like "jason" or "nick" and claims that he knows me from high school. I always get really angry and say that i'll call the police if he doesn't stop calling. He just says he "wants to talk" I always hung up after that. Last night he called me and said the exact same thing but got inappropriate. Is it possible to block this number? because it's really creepy.

This number was used to trying to scam me into cashing a fraudulent cheque in Canada.  They are not calling from Toronto but rather overseas.  When I wouldn't pick up from an unlisted number they called me from 416-642-0882.  I did answer and it was this person who had contacted me earlier regarding cashing a cheque for him.

Just got called by this number. Claimed to be from Lox (locks or lux) Windows and Doors...I told him I had already asked them to take me off their list and I wanted to file a complaint...he gave me a phone number to call and kept saying 'go ahead, complain' 'go, file a complain'. I didn't take down the number cause i'm sure it's a phony one. Next time I'm going to play along and seem interested in whatever he's selling so that I can get to a 'real' company and contact.

Got 4 calls in 2 days from that same 416-642-0882 number but never answered.
How can we stop this?

THESE ARE SCAM ARTISTS!!!!!!!! They said there were from Bell's marketing department - they offered me high speed internet and modem - 3 months free and then $22.95 after that (it seemed authentic until they said... ) "for life"... they wanted my mastercard, visa or american express "reservation number".. which is another way of asking for YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER - they assured me that it was for verification purposes only and that they didn't want the security number on the back ... when I said that I wasn't comfortable, they asked about my banking information. I declined.  They phoned back again using a different person - high pressure assurance but I'm not stupid - they cold called me - they say they are from a reputable company - all wonderful stuff but all bull crap!

calling me more than 10 time a day... the phone was busy all the time when I call back.

Some Mid Eastern Indian sounding male whom I could barely understand his English started to tell me something about lowering my interest rate. I cut him off and hung up.

I get a call from this number several times a day.  Today 4 times in a row, i never pick up phone.  Do I have have to call my service provider to block this person? Anyhow, I have been receiving calls since January, and hopefully it will stop soon.

Got a call around 5pm, a woman was asking to speak to the owner of the house.
Had to get her to repeat the question several times because the call quality was so poor.

When I asked why she was calling, she wouldn't give me an answer. Just asked again to speak to the owner of the house.

I got 6 calls from this number today.  They claim to be Bell offering a new high speed internet package, first 3 months free.  It sounded real until they asked for my credit card number.  I said there was no way Bell asked for that information over the phone and I hung up.  They called back using private name and number but I didn't pick up.

My sister is overseas to visit my parents for a couple of weeks and , every time she calls, this number appears on my call display. When I asked her she had no idea but said that she was using a calling card.

this number has been calling me since Nov; knows my name, calls my home and cell numbers - usually just keeps saying hello, sometimes gets very rude.  i have blocked the number (of course Rogers charges monthly for this "safety" feature).  Police involved - it's a Skype number and is untracable.  many police divisions involved, plus RCMP.  nothing you can do but block the number.  although it somehow unblocked itself and i received calls over the weekend - didn't answer.  dirtbag.
