Called the number back and got Rogers general switchboard. I just blasted these creeps about cutting my net bandwidth by 2/3rds last time they called only over a week ago. They were trying to get me to pay more to restore my stolen bandwidth. What a scumbag marketing company.

Both 416-645-2105 and 866-417-9498 are the ROGERS CREDIT DEPARTMENT. If you call the 866 number, avoiding lost distance charges, you will be connected to an operator from their credit department. I took the risk of giving them my name and current telephone number, indicating that I do not have any Rogers services (I'm on Virgin pay-as-you-go). She checked several databases and then said, "We won't be bothering you anymore." I wanted to know why it was happening, and she told me that my number had been previously used by someone else with an unpaid balance, and that's why it was being called.

Here's what I think is happening -- After number portability came into effect, it became easy for people to pick up new contracts with other providers, and Rogers was getting a lot of people just abandoning their accounts when they jumped to someone else. They don't have sufficient leverage to go after them, there's too many I guess; you can read about it here:

    http://www.cbc.ca/technology/story/2010/01/21 ... er-porting.html

My guess is that until the CRTC takes their request to have the other companies pay out the overdue accounts they're left holding, Rogers has cranked up their collections to the point of badgering total strangers that happen to have numbers ANYWHERE in their databases.

Yes it is Rogers trying to call it is an outbound marketing campaign in the form of a customer feedback survey and to promote their services newer customers . Check your marketing permissions on your account online and tick off the box be opted out of future communications for marketing purposes and your name should be taken out of their contact base. That should help. : 0 )

I also have rogers, and I have had that call practically everyday since i've gotten my iPhone. WTF ROGERS?!!? urg it's really annoying.... I've never picked it up because i'm scared that it's gonna be an expensive long-distance chat. But they have left a messgae, it was just this oriental person that said Hello... then she paused and it went silent and she blabbered some random [***]

I said excuse me, we are not interested in changing anything and would like to be taken off your promotions list...his answer was I will call you any time i want!. I ask for a supervisor and he put me on hold, came back and said, I will not get you a supervisor. I told him i was calling the police and hung up.

yes, some companies are a bother. Some when customer service says they will return the call and never do.I been waiting from Boardwalk equity to return a call over a slip on their property. Two things I guess they are at fault and there a cheque which has to be turned over. They prefer to give it to some else like the post office here in edmonton

As per to my first post. I should mension I am aware of a FEDX driver here in edmonton He will let the phone ring twice four times with in a minute. Bad enough he calls from the office here so his supervisor can confirm. Even worse he reads tags back wards. There are some dim people here in this country
