Pay your home depot bill and the calls would never happen. If you don't answer the phone, legally can call up to six times a day (and that is with only one account, so you can imagine how many times they can call with more than 1 Citibank account).

I've been getting calls from this number to my cell for several days now. Like you all, I called the number and got Citibank - Home Depot. They found my number and it was associated with someone else's name. A very pleasant woman said she was removing the number, so we'll see if the calls stop now.  In a few days I'll update this group with the results.

and post a complaint.  I'm sure no one in upper management gives a crap what consumers think...if we were stupid enough to get something on credit from them (which I was)then we have to deal with it - or ignore it.  THEY DON'T CARE.....it's all companies you have credit with - DELL is the worst followed by Home Depot.

read your rights, they are not allowed to use the phone to harrass  you.  There is a way to file a complaint if they do.  I got to phone calls from them this morning.  Called them back gave them my phone number.  We'll see what happens.  They are praying on your ignorance of the law.  Let them know you are informed and see if there are any improvements.

Legally allowed to call between 8am and 9pm local time (based on your area code).  Can call 6x a day. If you have concerns for Fraud, call the number on your card. I can confirm what someone else said, that Home Depot does have collection sites in Gray TN and Irving TX among others.  Calls should stop within an hour or so of a contact with you (ie if you pick up and speak with them). The best course of action for anyone behind on bills, is to call the company and speak with collections. There are tons of payment programs that could help you including reduced payment, APR reduction,matching payment, settle acct for less than balance, etc. It all depends on your unique situation. But, if you call and explain, chances are it gives you relief for some time from calls.  Also, you can put yourself on "Do Not Call" and request them not to call you again. If you do this, they can't call you. But, they may take other action if you fall further past due, like sue you for the money that was legitimately borrowed by you.
For those who don't have a card with them, just talk to them & give them minimal info like your name and the number they called (nothing confidential). A good, and legit company could tell you what the call was in reference to, in detail. In many cases, its a wrong number and they can remove it and resolve it. If they still claim you owe a debt, you should check your credit report to make sure you don't owe anything.
I'm sorry the general population has such a negative experience with collections. I hope that most of the collectors would maintain a professional attitude and seek to help you.  It's never fun to be underwater financially (for those that are), but your best help is probably the company itself or one of the other debt relief companys. And, since I'm on my soapbox anyway, you should NEVER pay money to a company to resolve your debts. There are plenty of free nonprofit companies that can work with you to resolve your debt - the ones that require "fees" from you are mostly scams! If you can afford to pay a fee, you can afford to call CCCS, or your credit company to make arrangements.

Called the 423-477-6983, and it sounded legit.  However I then called the number on the back of HD CC and after being on the phone with fraud services for quite some time, they assured me no-one was calling on this account and that the number must be a fraud. They changed my account and recommended I call customer care for Home Depot.  Customer care reports that they know this is a fraudulent number and thanked me for the call.  Either Home Depot is BSing me, or there is a problem.  My next step is to file an identify theft complaint with the appropriate federal agency.  For those on here swearing up and down that this number is legit, either you are part of the scam, or part of some illegal debt collection activity, and I sincerely hope that your IP is logged for when I reference this web page in my upcoming federal complaint.  To those who get called by this number, call your actual account holder, inquirer, and complain.  If you find as I have that the legitimate holder of your account disavows the 423-277-6983 file an identity theft complaint and let the fed fix it.

Funny, a lot of people that supposedly work for this number google it and then defend it.  How many people google their work number?  If it quacks like a duck, and waddles like a duck, it's a duck.

I am so sick of this number calling my house!!! The very worst part is that it is a recording!! I want to talk to a rep and get this straightened out and I can't get a rep even if i press 0.... I refuse to answer when they call if they cannot at least give me the option of talking to a real person and not a recording.

Well - I got a call at 1:55pm today...     Yes.  My payment is late.  Yes, when I got the account, I agreed to pay them on time!  Yes, I will pay them later today!  Can't fight that logic, now can we?

Nookaries79: there insane! I always pay me bill on time and they still call.. Very annoying.. I even gave them the transaction of the receipt from when I paid at the store, and they still called the next day. There communication and notes in there system are horrible...

Well I can still laugh and thats a good sign.  Here is how to take care of these predators.  If we could pay, we would.  We gave a bailout to these banks, and this is how they reward us, by lowering our balances, causing us to be over the limit, then initiating fees and raising our interest rates and payments.

Step 1.  Change your phone number.
Step 2.  Get a magic jack for all your credit cards.  Magic Jack gives you free voice mail and call forwarding.
Step 3.  Get a PO Box, $15 for 6 months at the post office
Step 4.  Change all credit card address and phone to the new numbers.

I received numerous calls from the same number. Paid them off, now all the organizations I'm in membership has changed to Lowe's, better quality services, no phone calls and respects their customers. They say never say never, bull crap, I will never have any dealings with The Home Depot as long as Citibank handles their credit card accounts. Every convention I attend I convince the attendees to discontinue patronizing The Home Depot and Citibank.
Lowe's and Wachovia/Wells Fargo are the honorable institutions.

They call me repeatedly! They call both my home and cell numbers, my payment isn't even late! I paid a partial payment and scheduled the remainder on the due date and they WILL not stop
