I picked up a "canned" voice messeage on ansering machine, a canned male voice stating he was calling from CVS Caremark with IMPORTANT INFORMATION about my drug prescriptions. The canned message requested that I call back at 1-877-230-1272. Thinking it was a legitimate call, because my health insurance company is contracted with CVS Caremark to provide their CareFirst BC/BS members with prescriptions, I made the call. I got a "canned voice" (not a real person), requesting me to provide my full date of birth. I did not give it, and I could not get to a real voice. I hung up.

I called my insurance company, told them about the "canned" call asking for my full date of birth, and they gave me CVS Caremark's customer care number. CVS Caremark customer service said they are unaware of such calls, and furthermore, she could not identify the 1-8787-230-1272 number as a CVS Caremark number.

Ladies and Gentleman, beware of "canned calls" from CVS Caremark (423-822-2465) from Chattanooga, TN. I believe this is a PHISHING operation,

unknown caller but with Caller ID, we do not answer. We block the number.

Msg said they were from CVS CareMark and for me to call them back at a different bogus number.

Yup, Said they were from CVS CareMark. Used bogus #'s: 423-822-2465 and 877-495-0477.

423-822-2465 is clearly a social engineering scam to get personal information and to add to their data base people, especially elderly, who may have a touch of dementia.  Do not ever return such calls no matter how legitimate they sound.

If you do return the call indicate that for security, you are recording the call.  Then  ask them who you are talking to.  Ask them who they work for.  Specifically ask them why they are calling you.  Then ask to talk with their supervisior.  Then ask the same questions.  If they have not hung up by then, ask them additional questions as to their customer service number.

Then varify that that really is a legitimate customer service number by calling the store and asking for the same number.

Bottom line, don't worry.  You won't die from not taking their call or any call.  They pray on people who are paranoid of missing a call or lonely people.

Thanks so much for your post verifying that by calling your insurance company they could not identify the toll-free number given as belonging to the insurance company.  I too got a "canned" voice message, but directing me to 1-877-766-8481.  I will disregard it.

Even if it is CVS - DO not give out your Date of birth for verification.
When someone calls you - They initialed the call, and its their responsibility to have the right info, NOT for you to provide them.

Also a call form CVS should show CVS on caller ID not Tenessee.

Call from Chattanooga, TN 423-822-2465 .. recording--Hello--this is CVS-Caremark asked by name to answer Yes OR No. Answered Yes then asked for my birthdate to verify it was me. I Hung UP. Have no busy with CVS anyway.

Got a call and they said they were CVS Pharmacy. Asked if my name was Ruth Peterson..say yes or no...then the asked for my full birthdate....I hung up immediately. I don't have any dealings with their pharmacy.

Answer our questions Ruth! We will call again until we get the answers we need.

they need not to call this is a scam call

I have received this call twice in two days.
I was left a callback# and a code. When I called back it was a tape asking for my fiull birthdate. I hung up. I will not give personal info to an unsolicited caller. I sent an email to CVS Caremark inquiring about this practice and am awaiting a reply. In my opinion if I call back and am recognized by my phone number or a code, I should not need to supply other information....just tell me what you called about. The caller ID had the number

Received call listed as Chattanooga, 877 766 9481.  Left a message, mentioning my wifes name, saying they were CVS Caremark and they have an important message and she was to call 877-766-9481 and to enter seven digit extension number, 2041107.   Will not call them because we do not and have not dealt with CVS pharmacy.  Has to be a scam.

I don't care if it is legit either, why are they even calling me??? I have never used CVS in my life...

Got message sayin it was CVs for me with my full name and I had a prescription that needed to be refilled. call them back at 877-230-1272 and give this number 3649514... I did not call back, I have no prescriptions waiting for me from CVS...

Phishing scam. Recording claimed they were CVS-Caremark, and they had "important information" for me. They even used my name in the voice mail message. Except I've never used CVS (nothing personal, they're just not local).  I called back out of curiosity. An automated voice asked me to confirm my name then asked for my DOB. Seriously?  This is Phishing 101.  Hung up and blocked the number.

Received a call listed as Chattanooga, TN.  Did not answer.  Message left was for my wife.  Mentioned her name and wanted her to call back and enter a seven digit code.  The automated voice said they were CVS care mark. I have received the same call before.  Never called them back.  We have never been to a CVS pharmacy.  So why would they call us?

Message stated that they were supposedly from Aetna Prescription Services and left a long (6 or 7 digit) extension number.
