I keep getting calls from this number for a person that I don't know.  The person calling is a debt collector.  I am looking into what legal action I can take against them.  Does anyone have any idea what action we can take to get them to stop.

They call me 4 to 5 times a day
They say it is about my car warranty
Then tell me to hold for next person

I got a call today from this number at my job!  The reason for the call is a $35 co-pay that was PAID in cash months ago!  I have tried contacting the hospital to notify them to that I am getting these calls and they say that I have to speak with West.  I can't speak with these people.  They are collectors and their job is to harrass and badger you until you get sick of them calling and you relent and pay!  I sometimes feel an extra $35 is worth it to get them to leave me alone.  But, I refuse to pay it (again) simply because they seem to live to make these calls! I've had one representative ask me "How do you pay your phone bill if you can't afford $35!?" she even asked me if I could ask friends and family to lend me $35! West Asset Management is a BEAST!

Why do they call and instead of saying "Hello, may I speak with (__NAME__)".  Instead, they call and say, "Maria! How are you today?" as if to be your long-lost friend from college.  Then, they immediately ask you to verify your date of birth/home address/ or social security number but won't affirm who they are or why they are calling until you disclose this extremely sensitive and personal information over the phone with a total stranger!  This practice is deceptive and should be illegal.  I believe all collectors should be required to state who they are and what company they are representing PRIOR to asking for anyone!  I saw a documentary titled "Maxed Out" and it showed collections companies threatening people and blatantly trying to upset people in order to intimidate them into paying debts.  This is ridiculous.  I always remember that they are doing a job--a terrible and disrespectful job; but a job nonetheless.  I understand that they pay their bills by calling people like us.  They get paid, oftentimes, based on how many collections they can get paid--a quota. So, the next time West calls, just be as polite as you can muster and ask them "Have you met your quota this month?  Will you have enough money to pay your bills this month? How much is your rent/mortgage? Verify your birthdate for me and then we can start talking about payment schedules."  If all else fails, they WILL call you back tomorrow.  So, exercise your right to HANG UP! Oh---and one more pointer, if you have caller ID, and you recognize the number as West, don't answer it.  They monitor what time the phone is answered and will continuously call at that time everyday until they drive you insane!

I have never answered this number it just says if this is L then please pick up.  I don't owe any money so why are they calling me?  I read that they not only collect medical bills but they also collect student loans.  Has anyone else heard this?  Has anyone got them to stop calling?   If so how?

These idiots call me 8~10 times every single day (except Sunday) beginning at 8 AM CST and call as late as 9 PM CST.  Interrestingly, they call my Fax Line and are apparently too stupid to know it.  I guess because the call is unattended at the other side.  At most they say I need to call them (???).  Like hell I do.  They also call (often) from other numbers unidentified.  My phones NEVER answer a call that you are afraid to say who you are, or contradict the expense I go to to have caller ID tell me who is calling.  I have no idea why they are calling me and I owe no one.

My phone recieves a call from the number 1-443-550-7975 almost daily, sometimes as early as 7:am in the morning, but there is never anyone on the other ending.  In fact when I answer it hangs up.  I am very tired of this and would like it to STOP

Called the number 1 443-550-7975...got some guy name Bubby on the phone who said he/the campany is West Asset Management.  I guess this is a Collection Agency, but he is not aware that the call hangs up when it is answered.

Oh goodie! Another blasted collection agency looking for the losers that had my phone number last. I've had this phone number since March 2000, it's now August 2008. How long will this harrassment last? I've already reported many of these persistent money mongers to the Attorney General's office but they are still selling my phone number to the next money monger. I don't think I should have to pay to get my phone number changed after 8+ years of repeated aggrevation. Besides, I might just be starting over with another deadbeat loser's former number.

They have called my landline number 3 or 4 times a day every day but Sunday.  First call at 8 AM CST, last about 9 PM.  I have no idea why they are calling.  I long ago quit trying to answer.  The number they call is my DSL line, which I have directly connected to my FAX.  I only answer my Cell Phone and do not give that number to anyone but friends and family.  I almost think it is funny now because they call with many numbers, seem pretty hard headed but also rather stupid.

West Asset Management - They are a major pain.  Apparently hire the rudest people on the planet, who must all be millionaires and who have never had a down moment in their financial lives.  (yeah right).

Call continuously - famous for calling at your place of business.  Make sure to tell them your banking info is none of their business, and that they do not have the right to call you at work.

This number has been calling me at least twice a week for the last 2 weeks. When I answer theres no one at the other end.I do not have caller id but did call *69 and got there phone number.

Got my first call today (09/30/2008) on my cell phone today from 443-550-7975. Some jerk, (no name) left me a voice mail and told me to call 877-411-7197 EXT 369. I don't answer my cell phone from unknown numbers. My wife called from her work phone and I wouldn't answer it because I didn't know the number. I know a US senator and will be firing off a letter to him to see if we can get something done about this company (West Asset Management).

i'm guessing this is nothing too new, but oddly enough, i've only starting getting these calls since moving to georgia. weirdness! they call on the new cell that i just got (i've gotten several , from different companies) and since all the people i know who would call me are loaded in my friends list - i never answer , just assume its someone calling for the last shmuck who had this phone number. at least they never leave msgs and waste my minutes.

I am a retired bill collector and the law states that they call as many times as they want until YOU deem it harassment. If you have an attorney the calls MUST stop ASAP. That is clearly against the and your attorney should sue them for breaking FDCPA law. If you have spoken to a CSR and told them your story about the ins co not paying, its up to YOU to reslove the matter not the collection agency. The hospital, Dr office and emergency room never received their money and you have signed the paperwork that in the end your finically responsible. You need to resolve the problem. kathy....you are wrong you cant call as much as you want in one day..the law says a bill collector can call your number up to eight times in one day that if nobody answers the phone,,if we do speak and dont agree on a payment then you have to wait two days to call me again...again if we speak and agree on a payment then you cant call me for five days...
also most of the problems with these doctors and hospitals is when they fill out there part of the forms they make mistakes and thats why they dont get paid so why should i correct there mistake they have people working for them just call the insurance company and fix it and then you get paid.

If you wanna get rid of this annoying as hell phone calls, first you need a radioshack 5.8GHz Digital Phone, Store the number (as in add it in the phonebook), then set the ring tone as Ring Off. Then you will never hear the crappy phonecalls again.

They are a collection agency that Sallie Mae uses to collect on their bad debt.  I have tired to talk to them about the bad debt and I get know where fast with any information or assistance.  I told them that they would need to mail me a company letter stating their purpose (which is common in the collection world) and they acted like I was being crazy … asking for proof of who they were.  They eventually took my address but I still haven’t received a letter telling me who they are, what their purpose is, and what debt I owe.

Answer the phone and keep them on the call for as long as possible.  Eventually they will go out of business.
