Called and told me I entered a contest from a year to two years ago. I told them I did not remember entering a contest, and the said it was for an address in a city that I have not lived in for over 4 years. Scammers.

I got a call from the same person, Casey Waterhouse, a young-sounding female. Said she was looking for a "R. Valley" or something like that. I said wrong number but she said I could claim the free system & pay for the daily monitoring. Wanted to call me back (I should have said no but found this site after I hung up) after I spoke w/ husband. Didn't have local ph# for Boise but directed me to their website vip750.com. Definately going to decline. Checked the Better Business Bureau and (surprise!) not listed on the BBB.

Took the bait apparently & made an appointment.  I wasn't very comfortable to begin with, but don't like the looks of their website ~ a lot of dead ends & blank pages.  Not sure who exactly they are sending to my home.  Also, they asked how often i was alone at home & what i do & my husband do for a living.  Don't think any other security company would ask these questions with a sales call.
Cancelling my house appt.  Don't trust this company...

They are definitely trying to hook the gullible or ignorant into pretending they called the wrong number, then offering you the "deal".  HANG UP ON THESE PRANK CALLS OR GET TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF!

Doesn't sound like a scam it sounds like someone with a service to perform who doesn't have the time to waste on ignorant chodes like yourself. You seem like a paranoid dumbass.

Statistical questions. people liketoknow what kind of people take advantage of oportunities provided by various companies. dont be so paranoid. dont let your scepticism determin your opportunities.

A few months ago I got a call from a Kim who did not state the name of the company she was representing and I had to interrupt her pitch just to ask the name: she said it was VIP 750.

This morning I got another call - said that her name was Christina, without identifying the company she works for, then rattled on about how I had filled out an entry for a home security system and said that I was a lucky winner.  Uh-huh. When I told her that I hadn't entered any contests or sweepstakes, she said that someone must have done it for me.  She was clearly reading from a script and asked how long I'd owned my home. At that moment I pointed out that I had no idea what company she was calling from.  She said VIP 750.  I said "Thank you but NO THANK YOU." and hung up.

did it ever occur to you that this might be legit? Or that the people calling you and then people you have them send out to, as you put it "waste their time" work for a commission? Are you really that unhappy that you would let a transitory situation bother you this much? if you don't like these calls go to www.donotcall.gov and until you are officially on the list tell telemarketers to place you on their do not call list. once you ask to be put on the do not call list, it is illegal for the company who called to call you back. If they do call you back they pay a fine.

www.donotcall.gov will end these calls. it is the national  do not call registry. it is free if you are the consumer. businesses who telemarket have to pay by area code  to make these calls. if they do call back after calling and asking to be placed on their internal list, or if you are on the list, there is a fine involved. the donotcall.gov is updated quarterly, so be patient when you register. also, on your voice mail/answering machine say" if you are a telemarketerer, please add this number to your do not call list", and there are phone company options to block these calls from coming in with the same message when they intercept the call.

Who called?

My wife received a call from VIP750. Different sales pitch to what people have posted above. This time they said they would give us an alarm system at no cost as long as we put their sign up in our yard as they wanted to advertise in our area as they didn't have any business in this area yet. They wanted to send some-one out the very next day to meet with her and discuss it. My wife was interested but put them off till the following Sat morning when I was available to meet too.
The guy  came out and gave us the sales pitch about monitronics alarm systems. Pointed out many law enforcement people use monitonics etc etc. They are probably a good enough alarm system, but a couple of concerns came up for me :
1) He took it as a given that we were going to "fill in paperwork" at the end of his presentation, to "reserve a system" at the special price. We could of course choose to back out of it with no commitment before the installation date - or so he said ! I told him firmly that we would not be filling in any paperwork today because I hadn't done any research on alarm systems yet and I do not make spur of the moment decisions following sales pitches in my home !  He accepted that and didn't push that any further but said he'd call back in a week to see had we reached a decision. He also got his cell phone out and called his supervisor right then and there to explain that plan, which sort of makes me think there's some high pressure sales tactics going on somewhere.
2) He did not have any brochures etc to give us at all. You would think he would have a flier or something to give us. I told him I needed some information to study to help me make a decision. So he gave me a couple of sheets of information and asked that I photocopy them and give them back to him since they were his only copies
3) When I did copy the sheets, then he wanted a scissors and started cutting out the price information on the sheet, just leaving the "special" price at the bottom but cutting out all the regular prices. I asked him why was he doing that ? He said because the pricing information was sensitive and the company didn't want it leaking out. I said that he was taking away my data for making an informed decision. How could I decide whether to act by the end of August to make the special deal if I did not know what the full price would be and what I might be saving? So he said OK then, he'd give me the full unmutilated sheet of information. I thought this was very weird indeed, seemed like he was "hiding" something and all this did was make me suspicious.
4) the guy came in a decidely beat up old car, and while I suppose I shouldn't totally judge him for that, it just gives a poor first impression. He didn't even have a business card to give me.  His name was Fred Harmon, just FYI in case anyone else runs into him. He was polite and not pushy, but I got the sense he was following some "program" with the expected outcome that we would sign up because of that fact that he had come out for a consultation.

Sure enough he called me back a week later but I told him I haven't had time to do any research and am not in a position to make any decisions at this time. He said he would call back again in mid September, and I said please don't, I'll call you if I decide I want an alarm. So we will see if we start getting telemarketing calls again from them. If we do, I will point out to them that we are on the do not call list and they should not be calling us anyway.

I just got a call on a brand new phone line.  The caller said that he had tried to call me earlier, but the call didn't go through.  When I asked how he got my number, he said he didn't know, but my phone had been hooked up for less than five minutes.  When he asked how long I had lived in my house I told him I did not like how this was going and hung up.

it sucks being a telemarketer. all they do ( management) is try to fill your head with dumb [***] dreams, tell you how lucky you are to have this BIG OPPORTUNITY to make SO MUCH $$$$$....what a line of crap. maybe if the government hadn't ruined the economy, people wouldn't have to endure these calls, and other poor people would not have to make them. if you ask me every body loses.

Linda wise up.  I just got my new phone 2 days ago and they have already called 6 times.  I have not giving my new number to anyone yet.  So there is no way a friend could have referred me.

Just had my new home phone set up through Century Link. Got the phone call just today. Didn't recognize the number and nobody had it yet so I didn't answer it. I hope they don't keep calling. Date 10/07/2011
