He was referring to people who don't have the balls to say "I do not want to do your survey, do not call back" and instead make up an excuse, like they are busy, or are out the door, or pretend to not be the homeowners.

To the RW up above comments about these so called surveys, if Tim Hortons wants to know if to continue the roll up the rim, then leave a survey box at each store, that way people have a choice to participate or not, if  a bank wants to know about the bank fees have a survey box or have the tellers give the survey paper to people , that way they can decide if to participate or not, same for all the other so called surveys, that way these companies that value their customers and their opinions so dam much, won;t be bothering and annoying folks by calling them all the time, that's just my opinion, but in this case, thats what counts the most...............

It would be nice if they would display their name on the caller ID.
I don't mind helping out with a survey but I don't answer random unidentified
    long distance phone numbers.

I also work for a telemarketing company. We identify our Company name on the caller ID.
We want people to know who we are. They are more likely to pick up if they do not think we are bill
collectors. Most people do have some kind of debt.

We also try to be as happy and polite as possibly. We want people to want to talk to us.

    flawed research replies to RW
Although it is kind of you to point out the differences between telemarketing and 'teleresearch' (my term) it is obvious to see that polls are unreliable. People that do speak with you are not representative no matter what your statistics tell you.  Smart people never believe results from these calls - in the end it is all about telemarketing - you give the data from 'opinions' to companies and then this is forwarded to the telemarketers!!!!

say PUT ME ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST!!!
the reason you are called is because your information as consumers actually does help companies. by information i mean feedback. that is simply it. they are not selling you anything. it  is legitimate consumer research. i have worked in this field before. the reason you get calls on the weekend is because the market researching agency realizes that is one of the best times to contact people, since most of you probably are not at work. they want to catch you when you are home. there is no reason to be so rude to the person on the other end of the phone. they have no control over what call is placed and when, it is automatically dialed  by the computer system.   instead of getting all crazy and stupid, there is one simple thing you can do. you have to be very specific. if you do not want to give your feedback  ( and sometimes they can actually be really fun or weird surveys, not always boring) IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO PARTICIPATE ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY IS " PUT ME ON THE -DO NOT CALL- LIST. if you say dont call me on the weekends, they will call weekdays. if u say dont call at this time of night, they will call back, just earlier. be specific. say put me on the do not call list. if you get another call from the same research agency, then ask for a supervisor or manager and they  WILL DEFINITELY PUT YOU ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST, WHICH MEANS YOU WILL NOT GET CALLED. its so simple, yet everyone has to make a big fuss about it. you [***] people are rediculous sometimes. dont take ur anger out on the person on the other end of the line, who IS just doing their job. put yourself in their shoes, you selfish [***]. :)

its so simple. really. replies to fo
and it doesnt matter what number it is. the company could have 100 different numbers to call you from. the point is to say put me on the do not call list, then you wont have the calls. YOU PEOPLE ONLY GET THE CALLS BECAUSE YOU, I GUESS UNKNOWINGLY, SIGN UP FOR IT. read fine print on things. [***] sheeple. they do also do cold calling, but most of it is NOT sales, and has been agreed upon by you and the company before they even call. how do you think they have your phone number, address, etc? - here im going to sign this peice of paper that says i get my bank account but in the fine print it says i will be called for surveys, then when they call im going to be a dick to them.     lol you just make yourselves look like morons. dont get mad because you are an idiot. :)

Hi. I just want to say to the person who makes these calls and has provided the phone numbers to get taken off the list, THANK-YOU. The gentleman was very nice, and explained what giving them my number for that purpose would achieve. He also warned me that if a client of theirs decides to go with another research company, that I would have to contact the new research company and do it all again.
Thank-you for the numbers. THIS particular research company says they will not call me again.  :-)
