- LjonesCall my home number and said my number was connected to a different address on the same street in which I live then wanted to know my correct address. Caller said he was from the Census Bureau.
- Eva HGot a phone call on Friday for 15 minutes on economics and pay for it! Got another call Saturday at 1:32 missed it from this number. Got a 3rd call on voice mail 1-805-637-7243 leaving a message they were the census bureau, I hear that much and just hung up.
- LisaReceived a call from 520-798-4152; the recording indicated that it was from the census bureau. Weird since I filled out the form and logged in online to answer the questions as well. I called back and had a horrible conversation from an operator that identified herself as Leslie Chacra. I gave her the id# that was left on the voicemail; she then wanted lots of personal info and I advised her I was hesitant to give the info. I also advised her that I filled out the form and went online to answer the questions as well. She then started telling me that if I do not answer the questions, I would be arrested and go to jail because I have to answer all of her questions. "ITS THE LAW". I advised her several times I filled out the form and that I was uncomfortable giving the info over the phone due to concerns about identity theft. She laughed and reminded me I could go to jail. Her demeanor was that of a collection agency. I gave her my phone number and she then confirmed my name as it was on the questionnaire. She was rude and disrespectful even though the conversation was recorded. This type of behavior leads me to think the head of the census bureau trained them to be this way. I asked for her immediate supervisor and she gave me a name "OF" a supervisor she knew was not hers. I persisted and finally after being transferred to Marissa Monrelee and Sara Acevedo, I finally received the info that Maria Martinez is her immediate supervisor. We will see if she calls me back for the complaint as she was not available. Typical when they do not want to hear about problems in their department. I will be filing a complaint to the Census Bureau via mail and online. You can bet on this.

- Alan5/21/16 This is legit. Census Bureau quality control check following up mail-in questionnaire. The guy had all the information correct, name address, occupants. It was just a deeper dive into where each occupant lived. No improper or personal questions were asked (such as SSN)

- truth replies to DaveCaller ID spoofing! Any number can looked up on the internet and fed into caller ID so NO you can't verify the number. And the gov always says ' we don't call you unless you ask us to. That's how you spot a scam' So this is a scam by the gov's own definition. Don't answer the call or the questions.

- PDawgI believe it is legit. I was given a reference number on voicemail. When I returned call was told I was selected for the American Community Survey, which is performed in years the census is not. I read about it at https://www.consumeraffairs.com/news/beware-o ... nes-011215.html. I ws told the survey would take 30-40 minutes and that I might have received a post card about it in the mail, and that if I did I could do it on line. I told her I would look for the card, as I preferred to do it online. I didn't find the mail, but will call them back. The above website has tips for determining the difference between a scam and the real survey. The census is mandatory but they will not ask for certain info, or threaten you in any way.

- nina barnesGot a call from the number above, said they were the Census Bureau and I needed some information. They asked for the lady of the house, and asked if this was a specific address but it was not....the census bureau has always had their name clearly on the idea before. when did this unidentified number become their go-to number.
- Caller: Census Bureau???
- UFGRADWe use an answering machine to screen all calls as we get 2-3 daily from scam telemarketers. So much for the National Do Not Call List, a joke. A boring, sounded like a government employee, male voice left a message that he was with the census bureau, left an urgent message that I should call an 800# and provide info. They have obviously changed tactics as articles are appearing in the WSJ about the looming census. Just another scam.

- Susie SmithI have been HARRASSED by someone claiming to work for the Community Census Bureau. Has come out to my house twice (once on Sunday) unannounced. Left paperwork on my door and a note. has called me numerous times from 320-260-2224. Finally arranged a time to speak with her and she started to ask very invasive questions I refused to answer. Told her anything she needed from me she could contact the IRS and ask for and if she stopped by or called again I would file harassment charges. I now got a call from 520-798-4152 from someone who stated they were following up on the other person and I told them to reach out to her.
