All of these companies, IPacesetters, Aspen Media, Lester Mktg, Ebsco, etc., have been calling here for, literally, YEARS, trying to get one person to accept renewal of "free trade publications". No matter how many unanswered messages they leave, no matter how many times they try, their victim is just not interested in their worthless wastes of paper. They're so bad they can't even give them away.

You would think that after several years of unsuccessful calls, they'd get a clue.

Received a call from this #. The lady said that she wanted to verify some of my info to be able to send out a free newsletter. She also said that the call was being recorded. I said I was not interested and hung up... Are the words "fool" written on my forehead ? Do they really think I am going to give away from personal info to some stranger who calls me ?

Scott replies to Tired of the calls
There is an important distinction that it seems many people overlook.

IF you do business with ANY company and give them contact information, make sure you investigate their privacy policies/terms of service/terms of use.

It is possible that the company calling you is not violating the do not call registry, if they are instructed to contact you under terms you may have inadvertently agreed to with ANOTHER company.

For example, if you make an online purchase from <insert random online company> and provide them with a means of contacting you, they may have in the terms you agree to during the purchase, that you give them permission to have their 'partner' company contact you with offers they think may be of interest.

This may not be the case here, but I have uncovered several instances where this sort of thing does happen, and because the customer of the first company AGREED to the terms without reading them, the first company can hand them over to another company to be contacted.  The only solution in these instances are a) to ask the company contacting you to add you to their own do not call list, and b) ask them to provide the company that passed to them authorization to contact you, so you can instruct them to remove you from the lists they are sending to their 'partner' (or whatever term the agreement used) companies.

Sadly, in many cases it's legal.  Because of a customer's agreement with a company they do business with, and the DNC registry does not prohibit calls based on an established business relationship.

I'm not saying this is the case with this company, but that it is possible they are in compliance with the letter (albeit not the intended spirit I think) of the law.

Once or twice a day for the past four days......No message left...Very "professional" of them. THIS IS WITHOUT A DOUBT.........  TELEPHONE HARASSMENT
I am on the DO NOT CALL LIST...and have NO free magazine subscriptions

    Hey you idiots....leave a message...If I am interested, I will call you back. If not, I won't.

Why waste your time with repeated calls TO SOMEONE WHO IS NOT INTERESTED?  If I don't call you back, you can cross me off of your list as NOT INTERESTED and go on to another sucker to try to scam

Maybe you don't leave a message because you know you are violating the DNC Law. One time, I will be home..and will answer...and will get all of the information I need to file a complaint with the govt, my local police and the Kentucky States Attorney office...AS I CONSIDER THESE AS HARASSING HANG-UP CALLS

This number called my work asking for the boss.  There's no need to be nasty to them, they're just trying to do a job.  They typically ask for name address and phone number verification, and are free subscriptions to trade magazines.  I am firm with them, I can verify these items, no new info and I don't answer survey questions.  We still get the magazines, and they are a valuable tool to stay current.  I think phone calls are a small price to pay for this.  Yes it's annoying.   Yes they do sell the info, but come on.  It's a business.
