This number is the 1st time I have gotten a call from them on my cell or at all. They didn't leave a msg! If

I don't even know who they are but these people keep calling at all times
of the day and night. Is there no privacy for citizens? what can we do to stop them?
Please help.

Once a bill is past your state statue of limitations for collections it cannot be collected on UNLESS you answer one of these calls and verify your name.

If this is indeed, recovery portfolio, this is the second call in two days, I am tired of it.  I am listed with the do not call list and it doesn't help.

They bought a Citifinancial loan that i had put in bankruptcy but dismissed myself for and the loan was never paid off.  I still owe Citifinancial the $9000.  I don't have the money and they want to settle for $7000.  R U serious.  Can they sue me or come after me for anything?  I don't answer the phone and they never leave a message.  I google the phone number.

Listen! you want to get rid of these [***], tell them you just got the number asigned to you and someone from this number keeps calling (dont say who they are calling for). State your name and say I am getting of tired of these harassing calls (if it is a cell phone say," everytime I answer this call it consumes my minutes. They will ask you for your number,which they already have anyhow, and probably ask you do you know of the person they are calling for, just say no. They will have your number removed.

I never owed them any money, but they kept calling. Annoying!!!!

Scum suckers who prey on dumb Americans.  Yes, you probably has some debt that you never paid.  That is wrong.  But whatever the reason, young and foolish, medical problems, lost your job, or stolen identity, this harassment should be illegal.  They are right in one respect, just because the SOL has expired, doesn't resolve the debt.  They legally can't put on your credit history, so don't fall for that trap.  The only way to restart the SOL is for a payment to be made.  Don't make a payment or admit the debt.  They will try and fool you to pay just 10% to consider it paid, but then they have the right to put it back on your credit report as "settlement".  That sticks for 7 years.  They may tell you they won't, but that is a gamble.  If they do, it is so hard to get it off. So a 20 year old debt will haunt you for another 7 years in most states.  BEST ADVISE.  HANG UP THE PHONE.......Or better yet, ask them to hold and go watch TV.  That is a great trick, they get so angry and it is fun.  NEVER speak.  Screen their calls.  Eventually laws will be passed to end this practice of collecting old debt that has most likely been written off.  New laws now require debt that is written off over $600 to be issued a 1099C, you will have to pay taxes.  This sucks, but at least it should end the calls.  This is only debt over the last 7 years.  Once the SOL has expired they legally can't unless they can prove it in court.   Just be careful.

Don't PAY! Worst case scenero they will have to issue a 1099C and you will have to pay taxes based on your tax bracket.  First, say you want the debt verified.  You don't recall the debt and want proof.  Yes, you probably know the debt is yours, but use the law to your advantage.  Innocent until proven guilty.  Ok, if they do veify the debt, which they won't.  Most of the time they buy this debt for pennies on the dollar and have no clue about its valaidity.  If you don't have the money, don't deal with portfolio revovery, they are scum and will lie to get you to pay any debt.  Even if it isn't yours.  I had my identity stollen and proven without a doubt the debt is invalid, but they state I am wrong and should just settle with them to avoid the calls.

The crazy thing about this number is that when I went to AnyWho.com and did a reverse look-up for this number it says it's the Hamby residence at 310 Osborne Street in Hutchinson, KS.  So I went to Google Maps and looked up the address and it's a little shack looking house.

These people are calling my cell phone. I wish they would stop

It shows as a residence, but I don't know any individuals who live in Hutchinson, KS.  Probably a bill collector!  BLECCH!!!!
