- A friendthis number is for jamster for ringtones and music to stop them ripping you off u needed to text stop to 88888 and they will cancel your membership
- Nicolasthey text me at a cost of £1.50 a time
how can i stop them? - nleaneyI too was seeing groups of 3 £1.50 txt on my daughters PAYG. It transpires that she is an iCarly fan and there appears to have been a link circulating for ringtones. She went to a website and mistakenly entered her mobile number and her credit has been draining away ever since (well, until we spotted it).
Virgin told me to send a txt with STOP ALL to 88100. It remains to be seen if this does end the txts- Caller: Jamster

- Simon VaughanMy Daughter keeps getting these txt messages (costing £1.50 at time), and she was worried sick that she had gone over her usual £15 tariff. Having checked her phone bill the text was received from 700034153.
Companies should not be allowed to send txt messages where the receipant is the person paying the charge - something should be done about this. Surely an industry body should be protecting the consumer in these cases.- Caller: Believe it to be a ringtone company

- des801This is jamster. You need to send STOP to 88888. From the phone that's getting billed, to cancel your subscription.
That's even though you never asked for a subscription in the first place.
These people need stopping, so complain every chance you get.- Caller: JAMSTER
- pkthese are mobile bandits and need stoping, ripping my daughters mobile account off which i pay for.
- oscarHave just noticed my daughters mobile has been receiving 3 texts at the same time everyweek from this number at £1.50 a text. This has cost me £18 pounds this month alone. Surely this is illegal?? Is there any way to claim the money back?????
- p155ed off dad| 1 reply£55 on my daughters phone in one month - T*ssers . Anybody know where these people live ?

- LeeMajor scam £73.00 on our sons, looks like subscribing to ring tones through web, the best way to stop it is to call virgin and get a new number at the same time cancel the old number immediately

- Borris replies to M McGurk| 6 repliesOK and I really understand your frustration as I have tonight had the same issue with my daughter's latest phone bill.
In her case what seems to have happened is a "friend" thought it would be agood idea to provide her phone number to subscribe at www.Jamster.co.uk - where to quote them you can "Treat Yourself to Some Ringtones! Subscribe to Jamba, Just £4.50/Week". All they had to do is enter her mobile number, tick a box to say they have read the T&Cs and hit submit.
My daughter then received a TEXT from 700034153 asking her to text them back. Unfortunately she did this without checking with me first and without any idea of just what she was confirming. But as far as Jamster was concerned this "signs" the contract despite the fact she had no idea what it was for or what the T&Cs were.
Jamster then send 3 "Mobile Terminated" (MT) billed premium rate SMS Text messages per week each for £1.50. My view is that they don't do a single transaction for £4.50 even though they could because:
(1) It would stand out like a sore thumb on an itemised bill
(2) If its a PAYG phone with say £4.49 credit then they would at least get £3.00 rather than nothing!
Texting STOP to 88888 (or 88100) will stop the messages
Also you can call their SMS handling company on 0870 7502929 to get them stopped.
I went one further and called the JAMSTER help line on 0870 1213186 to "discuss".
I pointed out that their T&Cs clearly state that "IN ORDER TO USE THE SERVICE YOU (1) MUST BE AT LEAST 16 YEARS OF AGE AND HAVE THE CONSENT OF THE SUBSCRIBER OF THE MOBILE SERVICE TO SIGN-UP FOR AND USE THE SERVICE ON THEIR BEHALF AND (2) AGREE ON BEHALF OF THE SUBSCRIBER AND YOURSELF TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS. " As my daughter is just 13 and did not have my consent as the subscriber of the mobile phone service she was in no position to make any agreement with them and I therrfore considered it VOID and money had been taken from my mobile account against the provision of the PhonePay Plus code of conduct for premium rate services.
As a result I have been promised a partial refund of a little over £13.50 of the £22 I have been charged. Whilst I'm not totally happy with this it is better than nothing and probaly equated to all the money Jamster actually got (of the £1.50 charged for each MT billed SMS nearly half does not reach Jamster due to the removal of VAT and other charges creamed off by the mobile networks themselves).
The upshot is it is definitely worth complaining if your child is under 16. I will try and recover the balance from Virgin but won't hold my breath.

- Salty replies to BorrisThank you so much for the info you posted.
Have just noticed 3 x £1.50 transactions taken out of my 11yr old daughter's mobile account for the last 3 weeks.
Phoned the number you quoted for 'Jamster' helpline and quoted the t & c's you mentioned.
They have promised to cancel the 'contract' with immediate effect and will refund the full amount of £13.50
Looks like you have saved me a big headache.
Many Thanks! - another pi55ed off DadMy daughter just had the last two £10.00 credits eaten by these bandits, 3 x £1.50 texts taken on 4 occasions in bursts of less than 2 seconds. Googled the number on her bill and found this site/page. Followed the instructions from Borris and called the JAMSTER help line on 0870 1213186, got some bird called Gabby with an American accent, I asked where she was based and was told Muntinlupa City, Philippines. She asked my daughters age and when I told her she was 12 and had not knowingly/ willingly signed up for anything she offered to cancel the 'agreement' and block the number, when pushed for a refund I got the £13.50 cheque in the post offer, will let you know if it arrives..............

- RoseRHave had 3 x £1.50 messages every Sunday for the last 2 months. Have now blocked the number by texting stop to 88888. Spoke to Virgin Mobile who are very aware of the problem and suggested that if it re-occurs I should get my 11 year old daughter a new SIM. I've just called Jamster on 0870 12131864 and explained that my daughter is only 11. They initially offered £13.50 but when I queried they increased their offer to £22.50. Apparently a cheque will arrive in the post in 5 days. Found this rating website so have made them aware. http://www.pownum.com/jamster/ perhaps something will now be done to stop this happening. It's a disgrace
