Just received the same type of treatment from NICOLE-
Hung up on me 3 times - No real explanation of why they were calling.
Accused me of lying and then hung up.
I reported to AT&T and the BBB of South Carolina.

Do NOT put up with this type of harrasment and report immediately to AT&T

Someone from this number call me just 4 minutes ago and didn't say anything, just listened on the phone. This is very annoying and constitutes harassment.

I just got a call from this place, but since I don't take long distance calls, I let the voicemail take it.  She sounded very cheerful and stated her name was Mrs. Crawford, asked me to call her at an 800 number, then even at the end of the call she happily said, "....and enjoy your day."

It's a tactic that these collection companies are using now.  They figure if they call and leave you a nice message, they'll sucker you into calling them back, and then once you do, they turn from Dr. Jekyll to Mr. Hyde.

The truth is that you should all just stop paying all your credit cards.  Everyone should stop, and thanks to this economy, now is the time to show these banks and the rest that we're sick and tired of being taken advantage of.  And, that is exactly what they have been doing to all of us, all these years.  I think the government is BS for giving these failing banks all that money.  Why?  So they can continue to screw us all again??  And then 15 years from now another recession happens, because they did what they've already done all over again.  I stopped paying all my credit cards, and I refuse to take any collection calls whatsoever.  To hell with them.  No one seems to realize that all the profit employers have been making for the past 15 years is due to not paying their employees enough.  So, they take all that profit and stick it in banks, who then LEND you that money and charge you interest on it.  In other words, they are charging you for money that you should have made as income!!  How we allowed these jerks to get away with this I've no idea, but now is the time to take a stand.  If you don't need credit, then do it now, because now is the perfect time to give them what for.

Same collection agency difference # which is 704-841-2424 called twice today so far. I closed a business
on June 30 and never even received this cancellation fee bill of $1000 for At&t telephone and  $400 for internet which is now is the heartless hands of this Prince Parker collection agency. So here it is only two weeks ago and the collection dogs have already been loosed to bark and hound me for these
exhorbitant cancellation fees; as someone mentioned above, the contract renews automatically. This is really a built-in tactic and scheme to charge these ridiculously high termination fees which I never even remember
seeing and signing off on. I smell class action suit all over this. I will be contacting a good attorney to
    start the proceedings.

                         TITLE 15--COMMERCE AND TRADE

                    CHAPTER 41--CONSUMER CREDIT PROTECTION

                    SUBCHAPTER V--DEBT COLLECTION PRACTICES

Sec. 1692c. Communication in connection with debt collection

    (a) Communication with the consumer generally

Without the prior consent of the consumer given directly to the debt
collector or the express permission of a court of competent
jurisdiction, a debt collector may not communicate with a consumer in
connection with the collection of any debt--
           (1) at any unusual time or place or a time or place known or
which should be known to be inconvenient to the consumer. In the
absence of knowledge of circumstances to the contrary, a debt
collector shall assume that the convenient time for communicating
       with a consumer is after 8 o'clock antemeridian and before 9 o'clock
       postmeridian, local time at the consumer's location;
           (2) if the debt collector knows the consumer is represented by
an attorney with respect to such debt and has knowledge of, or can
readily ascertain, such attorney's name and address, unless the
attorney fails to respond within a reasonable period of time to a
communication from the debt collector or unless the attorney
consents to direct communication with the consumer; or
           (3) at the consumer's place of employment if the debt collector
knows or has reason to know that the consumer's employer prohibits
the consumer from receiving such communication.

    (b) Communication with third parties

Except as provided in section 1692b of this title, without the prior
consent of the consumer given directly to the debt collector, or the
express permission of a court of competent jurisdiction, or as
reasonably necessary to effectuate a postjudgment judicial remedy, a
debt collector may not communicate, in connection with the collection of
any debt, with any person other than the consumer, his attorney, a
consumer reporting agency if otherwise permitted by law, the creditor,
the attorney of the creditor, or the attorney of the debt collector.

    (c) Ceasing communication

If a consumer notifies a debt collector in writing that the consumer
refuses to pay a debt or that the consumer wishes the debt collector to
cease further communication with the consumer, the debt collector shall
not communicate further with the consumer with respect to such debt,
    except--
           (1) to advise the consumer that the debt collector's further
       efforts are being terminated;
           (2) to notify the consumer that the debt collector or creditor
may invoke specified remedies which are ordinarily invoked by such
       debt collector or creditor; or
           (3) where applicable, to notify the consumer that the debt
collector or creditor intends to invoke a specified remedy.

If such notice from the consumer is made by mail, notification shall be
    complete upon receipt.

    (d) ``Consumer'' defined

For the purpose of this section, the term ``consumer'' includes the
consumer's spouse, parent (if the consumer is a minor), guardian,
    executor, or administrator.

    per 1692c.

The subject is not about whether monies are owed or not...

This company is calling a place of business concerning a potential "personal" debt owed. This has tarnished my image in the workplace. I've slowly but surely made communication with over a 100 other individuals dealing with this same issue. We've found an attorney who's taking this on "Pro Bono" and will be going after these scum!!! Yeah!!!!

I take a lot of calls as a debtor's attorney and bankruptcy attorney.  This outfit is one of the most irritating to deal with.  They tie up my business phone because the calls are computer generated.  If you find a local attorney for your area, have him/her email me at clifton.baker@bakerlawtulsa.com
