I got a call from this number.  It said that I have a collect call from an inmate whose name is, and then this guy says, "Emergencies concerning your family member please press 0" then the recording tells me it's from Men's Central Jail.  I googled the area code 713 and it says it's from Houston but according to previous posts it might be getting forwarded through a call center.  Sounds like a scam to get people to accept a collect call.  =(

Last night the number I was given to call back is:  *721-323-331-0074  Doesn't that number have an extra digit?  (The 1 after 72)  I first tried it using my cell phone and was told it was an invalid number.  When I tried it using my home phone, it was busy.  Just now, after reading the posts on this site, I had my grandson call my home phone from his cell and my number rang fine.  I'm guessing this means the call forwarding transaction didn't go through...which is a good thing.  I had never heard of the call forwarding system, so this had been an interesting learning experience.  Thanks to everyone on this site for all the good information.  (PS - I didn't want to call the *72 number as something didint' seem right....but my husband said..."go ahead, just call it.  What can happen!....typical man....;-)

I keep getting calls from this number. I do have a brother in the Montana Prison system, however, I do not communicate with him. I have worked at the prison he is housed in, and upon re-applying, I wasn't hired back because of him. I want these calls to stop. They do go to my call phone, therefore runs up my bill if I answer it.

Someone keeps calling me from this number even while i am at work.  I really wish they would stop.

Whoever is making these calls are pathetic-individuals living miserable lives. Can't provide for themselves, so they attempt to steal from others. I feel sorry for them, but some people are just ignorant & childish.

I wouldnt say that these are all prank calls. Someone may just remember your number for one reason or another, and needs your assistance in letting a family memmber or friend know their where abouts, how often have you gone to dial a number you call often to not rememmber it? We use cell phones these days and dial by name not number. I recieved a call from a "mike" so i looked the name up in my phone and i have only 1 mike, he has a deep accent, never the less i dialed the mike i knew and he was fine.

Always be wary of people asking you to dial numbers in any order, other then your use to. People do get in trouble for all sorts of things, pride, jealousy, dui, etc. i have been picked up 4 times in my life, mostly for drinking too much, but never for driving under the influence.

All 4 occasions i was not allowed calls because of the severeity of my intoxication. Atleast the people trying to reach us are sober, lol. There is no problem with accepting a collect call for the 3 to 5 bucks its going to cost you, you will instantly know if its a wring number or a friend or family member in serious need.

Ok listen up here people the "713-981-0098" number is not any form of debt collections it is simply just an in mate calling system from mainly a county jail...and just because you receive a call from this number does not mean someone in jail is a horrible offender they are usually awaiting trial....but if you don't like these calls you can simply contact your phone service provider and let them know to block off that number completely.....

got a call from this # 4:29 pm dst to my van nuys, ca cell phone. listened to recorded spiel. something about push digit to ... priison .. california. didnt do anything and it clicked off. checked a few of the 5-25 sites on GOOGLE for this #. consensus is that its a scam. you can read for yourself, if you want to waste time. just hang-up. As far as I know these are legitimate calls as I have dealt with them in the past.  They are from the prison system.  I have a son who has been in and out of jail and I suspect he is back in again since that is the only time he tries to contact me....when he needs help.  A few just may be calls that are dialed incorrectly, but I know it was my son who tried to call me from this number last night.
