This number has called me 23 times, never answered and after constantly declining the calls i decided to block the number.i still get the voice mails though.

Call came to my emergency-use throw-away cell phone. I've never told anyone the number so I didn't answer the call. Received two back-to-back calls that went to voice mail. Voice message said the phone was not set up for collect calls. I didn't listen to the rest of the message. I know no one in prison.

I have no idea who this is and they call me all day and never say what they are calling for!!!

Stop calling me. Im in the do not call list even. I do not aappreciate getting these calls. I do not know anyone in prison so no reason to call me.

Someone keeps calling from this number who is it?

I got I call from this number, it was an automated voice telling me I was receiving a collect call from an inmate in prison in Houston, Texas. I don't know anybody who is in jail or that lives in Texas. I blocked the number.

Well it's still happening. I got two calls from that number this morning but when the person tried to say their name, I couldn't understand what they said, so I didn't try to set up the account to accept the call from my cell phone, which is what they called. Probably a good thing since I don't know anyone that would be in jail.

I just received 5 calls from this number within about 30-45 minutes! I have no known relatives incarcerated so when this number first appeared my heart jumped! It could have been a relative, but I checked and all of my family was present and accounted for! I don't know how they obtained my number, but after reading through these comments, I do not want to talk to any inmate, I am not accepting any calls, nor am I setting up a prepaid account!! Stop calling me!

They called my house 3x within 2 minutes.  I let it go to answering machine, and then I took the number to Google and apparently there are scam artists using a Texas Prison phone number, trying to get you to give them your credit card details to "put money on an inmate's books."  First of all, I don't know anybody in Texas.  Secondly, [***] you if you are in prison.  Thirdly, I hate my phone and if anybody really knows me, I don't answer numbers I don't know, and I don't take collect calls from anyone but my husband and kids.  I wish these scammers and spammers would leave me alone already.

Received call pretty much same as others here - wanted us to accept collect call and set up account with credit card number and mentioned family members name. All rather cryptic and we aren't aware of anyone being incarcerated.

btw - It's not smart to put your number in here and say don't call, as you are just giving them your number and internet bots that harvest phone numbers as well.

Is there a way to stop these calls?

My parents got a call on their cell phone while I was out of the house and they thought I was in jail. I was on my way home and I ended up hearing the voicemail that was left, and can hear a person stating to be me locked up in North County Correctional Facility in Castiac, CA by using my name. My parents believed it and called my cell phone as I was driving home. I myself called the number and it was a busy tone. I called the North County Correctional Facility to tell them what happened and gave them the number.

I'm not sure who it was that tried to scam my parents, but that was damn well played because I wasn't home. I feel like I'm being watched now since my name was used and I was out of the house when it happened.

This number called my phone twice today. I have an account with GTL already from a different number. I know that more than one inmate facility is ran under GTL. When they called they said they were from somewhere in Houston/ Pasadena Texas than both times when it went to state the inmates name. I couldn't hear who it was. It sounded like whoever was under water. So judging from all these comments and the fact that my number is new...only had it a month. I would say that its either a scam or someone dialed me wrong. I don't even know anyone in Texas.

i think my ex/baby daddy called me from jail....i didnt answer but the message was saying something about the call being prepaid and to press 1 to accept the call...I could hear the noise in the background like a payphone type sound.
