- DrNeu replies to ESolution: On your cell phone, add to your contacts list and set the ring tone to "no ring." You'll never be bothered again.
- Fay WolfeCalls every day, no message. Who is this?
- DebStop calling me and find better ways to earn a living please.
- DS replies to ToddStLouisInfo: The Do Not Call Registry is only intended to stop / penalize for sales calls place to registered numbers. So, though I'm no more happy about it, surveys, research calls are not constrained by the Do Not Call registry. Just stop their spiel and tell em' you want to be removed from their call list immediately. It's our only direct recourse.

- JTWThis number has been calling me for weeks & they call at least once a day, there is neve anyone on the other end of the line. I'm sure its some kind of solicitation, my lawyer is in the process of finding out who they are so we can take legal action.
- Caller: Unknown at this time
- KI'm so sick of all these calls, 10+ in the last few days...I answer and no one answers. I found a web site it is www.dnc@datascension.com. I will notify them to take me of their call list, aka, DO NOT CALL...because this is so annoying, harassing and that I would put that all over the internet. I told that to the last marketing research company that called me and they haven't bugs me since then.
Tele # 1-888-996-9238 or 1-832-615-4777. I will call them, instead of emailing them, to remove me from their list!!! - Joyce DoddCalled and asked to speak to someone regarding business

- Billy BobRe: 714.551.5502 and other annoying bulk callers.
People:
1) If you don't recognize the number, don't answer. If it is a friend, family member or business call, they will leave a message and you can call them right back.
2) Our solution: We have an answering machine on our land line and 95% of the calls don't leave a message = solicitor for sales or a survey. On my cell calls I don't answer unless I see it is someone I've programmed in. If important, they leave a message and I call them back.
3) Just another reason to NEVER vote for ANY incumbent for ANY office! These "exemptions" to do-not-call lists happened on their shift. The "exemptions" make MOST of the volume/bulk calls, eh? Hint: large contributors to political campaigns. Further, this mess we're in also happened on THEIR shift.

- LarryCaller asked if we accept American Express. Would not explain who they were or why. Gave out no information. Sounded like some sort of scam.
- gatorladyreceived a call from this number. Could not understand any thing they was saying. Upon telling them I could not understand them, they hung up the phone.
- LaurieGot a call at my work from this number on Thursday April 12th. Our conversation went something like this:
Me: Hello, this is [MY WORK PLACE]. How can I help you?
Guy (with a thick accent of some sort): Hi, do you take American Express?
Me: American Express... for what?
Guy: Payment.
Me: Payment of what?
Guy: I don't know. My mother told me to call and ask you if you accept American Express.
Me: Well, I can't answer that without knowing what you are trying to pay for.
Guy: Can you just answer my question? Do you take American Express?
Me: Like I said, I can't without knowing what you're paying for.
Guy: I really need to know if you take American Express.
Me: What company are you with?
Guy: I can't tell you. My mother told me not to tell you anything, just to ask if you take American Express.
Me: Well, then I think you have the wrong number.
Guy: This is [CORRECT NAME OF MY WORK PLACE], right?
Me: Yes. But I don't know what you're trying to pay for.
Guy: Please, just answer my question. My mother needs to know.
Me: Okay, who's your mother?
Guy: Katherine.
Me: What's your name?
Guy: (after a very long awkward pause with lots of weird static like he was fumbling around) Roger.
Me: (going through a list of our clients and seeing no Katherine or Roger on the list) And where are you and your mother from?
Guy: (another long pause) San Diego. California. Please, do you take American Express?
Me: As I've said, I can't answer that. You're going to have to give me more information.
I then asked him how he spelled both his name and his mother's name, and he had a mild panic after he told me, demanding that I answer his question. So I told him that he'd have to have his mother call me but that didn't fly with him. After about 5 minutes of going in circles, with him asking "do you take American Express?" and my response being "I can't answer that," he eventually asked if I was going to answer his question. I told him no, that I needed to know what he was trying to pay for, and at that point, he sighed angrily and hung up on me.
No idea what kind of scam they're running but I would LOVE to know so that I can report them!- Caller: unknown

- MarcyI just received a call from this number (714-551-5502) and the first one I missed, and they left no message. The caller called back about 10 minutes later ...asked if I took American Express. I asked "who are you trying to reach" since they didn't ask anything about travel...and I am an independent travel agent, and they used my agency name and again asked...Do you take American Express. I said I do if the vendor where I book the travel accepts it...again he asked (middle eastern accent) Do you take American Express...and I then said..Yes, if the vendor accepts it...and the caller said thank you and hung up before I could ask anything else. I tried calling back the number and got a message "this call can not be completed as dialed, etc". This kind of freaked me out, and I like others, think they just wanted to hear me say yes. I did a reverse lookup and see that the number is from Orange, CA...don't want to pay the $4.99 to find out anymore, as feel like a big enough scam as is. Guess I will need to watch out for unexpected charges, or things delivered to me that I didn't order?? Not sure what is going on.

- WillNotGiveInfoToStrangersAfter three times of them hanging up on my answering machine, I picked up call number 4 and promptly hung up when he asked something about American Express. He called back and the conversation went much like the above calls. I told him I did not give out information unless I knew exactly who he was and why he was calling. He said he was a client of my husband's (private) company which he was badly mispronouncing. I told him the company did not have clients who used credit cards and that he was to remove my number from his call list as I was reporting him to the DO NOT CALL list which he was violating.....he hung up.
Have just talked to American Express to report this conversation. These guys are calling from out of the county (main sources of the scam - China, India, or Czech Republic) and spoofing the California number. He had not had a report on this particular number until I called but is reporting it to the Fraud Dept. He suggested getting a whistle and when they call blow it as loudly as you can.....each and every time they call! Sooner or later they will be deaf or get the message and remove your number. - mimithe caller was saying she wants to talk about my merchant account and when I told her there is just one person I talk to about my account and asked her about her the merchant company name , she hang up.
