They keep calling...here's an alert on the company from the BBB

Quality Resources of Clearwater, FL Calling Western MT
    Date: January 18, 2007

    Quality Resources Calling Western MT
Quoting Last Digits of Bank Cards, Has Unsatisfactory Record with BBB

Spokane, WA. - January 19, 2006 - TheLocalBBB received a telephone scenario from a Kalispell woman that raised red flags and is why we are issuing this education warning. Here is the scenario as it happened:

Last evening I received a phone call from a company called Quality Resources, phone 727.712.0382.

I could not quite understand what the woman was saying except she asked me if I was Owenna and something about a four-digit number she quoted.

I usually don't answer calls from numbers I do not know but I did thinking it could be someone I knew and when she pronounced my name right I really did think it was someone that I knew. But the connection was bad so I hung up.

Then something about the four numbers she quoted to me rang a bell and I looked at my bank debit card and my Capital One Credit Card and it was the last four numbers of my Capital One Card.

I am now really concerned about whomever this promotion company is that may have my number.

I tried calling the company back and all I got was a recording to hold for an agent (several times) and then finally a message that if I wanted my name removed from their list to hit #1 or just hang up. I did not hit #1 because I would really like them to call me back to find out how they had my personal info.

The company calling is Quality Resources located at 28870 US Highway 19 N, Suite 200, Clearwater, FL 33761-2573, Telephone: (888) 527- 2589, Fax: (727) 669-2242. Based on BBB Clearwater, FL files, this company has an unsatisfactory record with the Bureau due to failure to respond to one or more complaints and two or more unresolved complaints. However the business has resolved most complaints presented to the Bureau.

Complaints mostly concern selling and customer service issues.

    TIPS
    Protect Yourself - Be Informed
Questionable offers often begin with a contact which the consumer did not initiate. It's okay to:
    1) Say "no" or hang up on unsolicited calls,
    2) Report questionable scenarios to your Better Business Bureau for review and perhaps investigation,
    3) Not complete prize or contest offers received in the mail, and delete unsolicited e-mail.

Keep Your Information Safe and Secure
    1) Never give out financial information and identification documents to those who initiate a telephone call, street solicitors, or door-to-door salespersons. No matter how special the caller or salesperson makes you feel, don't let them high pressure you if you don't feel right,
    2) Give out your Social Security number only on transactions that you have initiated. Do not have your Social Security number printed on checks or driver's license,
    3) Keep a log of products or services ordered and check them against actual items received,
    4) Get on the Do Not Call List if you aren't already on it.

Above all else, KNOW that you can opt-out from receiving unsolicited calls and mail directly from merchants you do business with. This may require you to contact each one of your merchants to opt-out using their opt-out services. Be pro-active, take the step to not get on third-party partner and affiliate calling lists!

I have received 3 calls from them today.  The first at 9:41 am, the second at 11:13 am and just recently at 3:52.  I tried calling them back and someone picked up and didn't say anything, than it went to music.... it was good music "beautiful day" from U2, but that's besided the point.  Anyhoo, it's annoying and it makes me want to put the smack down on their candy [***].

    Thanks for listening

The calls are really irritating.  I don't answer calls from unfamiliar numbers but whoever these people are call a couple of times a day.  My numbers are unlisted and registered in the "do not call registry" for a couple of years now.  How were they able to get hold of cell phone numbers?  How can they be stopped?  Who can we contact to sue or file a complaint against the people behind this?

Here's a tip - In your voicemail greeting, add somthing like this:

"If you are a telemarketer or are in any way trying to sell me somthing, please be advised that I am on the Federal Do Not Call List. This message serves as your notice to place this number on your Do Not Call list. Failure to comply with this request may subject you to an $11,000 fine and/or civil proscecution."

This message has stopped a multitude of calls on my cell phone.

These jerks have my number now too.  I tired to call back and got the song Sunday Bloody Sunday on their answering machine.  It is anoying and something should be able to be done to stop it.  I might have call blocking in my cell phone, will check to see. Good luck to all who have fallen victim to this idiot.

I just got a call from 7277120382, they had the last four digits of my credit card number my cell phone and my work address.  They were very pushy, when I asked how they got my information they stated I must of made a purchase online and I was one of their "valued customers".  I immediately called and canceled my credit card.  I didn't want to take any chances.

I used J's method (see Nov. 20 response) & made a new vm greeting.  Two days after I changed the greeting on my phones, the calls from the pesky 727 callers stopped.  I, however, have taken the matter to the gov't agencies in-charge of prosecuting since I have been registered with the Do Not Call  registry previously. I just received a response from the FCC and will be submitting the completed forms (w/ a detailed list of the dates and times I received the calls).

Thank you, J, for your tip. It worked!

I got a call today morning from the same number. I did not pick up. Just trying to find who they are on google and then I came across this scary information about this firm.

I noticed on couple of sites about this f***ng firm and this has been going around since past couple of years. One thing I am wondering is, in a country like US no one is able to take any legal action on these guys?

I am just thinking of what all sites I did pruchase online recently. probably if every one lists the online shops they purchased then we might cornor out the unsecured online sight... atleast we might get some clue..

Recent online stores I did shopping (for sure there will be trust worthy sites as well in the list)
    - Thane.com
    - planetrx.com
    - meritline.com
    - Staples
    - Walmart
    - Circuit City
    - rest on google checkout.

They just did the same thing to me about 3 days ago. They called me at work no less, and our numbers are not listed (it's a company with over 5000 employees). When I asked how they obtained both the phone number and the last 4 digits of my CC#, they told me the same "it must've been something you purchased off the internet" line. Big mistake for them, as I have never used my work phone number EVER as part of an online purchase. Furthermore, since I do a lot of work online (software engineer), have all my credit card statements available at the touch of a button online as well, I simply went back over all my purchases with said credit card for the last year and not a single vendor had my work phone number.

What to do? I reported the FCC, FTC, Florida State Attorney General and the BBB for Clearwater, FL.

It's time we people use the very same power of the internet they have and fight back.

I've gotten the same call for the last few days, at my unlisted office number and they had the last 4 digits of my credit card, home address. Same spiel. It is Trident Marketing International of Tampa FL. I checked my card after hanging up on them and a fraudulent $1.05 charge had just appeared from "Check Bill." Charge removed as fraud, card cancelled.

This is outright, no questions, hands-down FRAUD.

First of all, my phone # is on the National Do Not Solicit Registry.  I Just received a call from a pushy, fast-talking telemarketer that wanted to send me a free $40 gas card.  She kept insisiting I purchased something online, radio or tv that qualified me for their program.  I had to aggressively interrupt her several times in order say that I wasn't interested.  I again asked her how she got my information & she said she didn't have access to that information, but suggested I call (727) 712-0382.  I asked her to take me off their mailing list & her response was it would take up to 72 hours.  When I called the number she provided, I was immediately put on hold & disconnected after 1-2 minutes.  My caller ID showed the call came from (866) 280-4252.  When I called this number, it goes straight to a recorded message that gave you options (one of which was to be taken off their mailing list-DO NOT select because it just confirms your phone # is active) & a different number to customer service:  (866) 434-6600, which I didn't bother calling.  By the way, when you do call these numbers, none of them are answered with an identifying company name.

The calls from 727-712-0382 are absolutely annoying and there has to be a way to stop these people from calling. I normally do not answer any calls from #'s I do not recognize and by reading the comments on this site it was the right decision.
How can these people be stopped?

got this call after i had googled this number and immediately told them what i was reading and that they were breaking the g*dd**n law and called them every name in the book another rep then got on the phone and asked if we could be friends of which I said no.  I then called all the merchants I have done online buisness with and they denied giving out such info.  I think that profinity is intolerable except when it comes to MFers that think the phone you pay the bill on is for their business pleasure but to all the Quality Resources employs who use this forum you are lower than dirt and don't deserve respect, just a good cussing and ass whippin

This company isn't a scam. I actually work for them. Some peoples tactics to get you to sign up may be rude and unprofessional but this really is a legit business. A lot of the times when no one responds immediately it's because there is a computer which dials your number and it takes a few seconds for our phone to realize that you have answered. We just do this job to make a living like you guys do. I know when telemarketers call me i'm still a dick and I work as a telemarketer. But all your information is safe. No one can charge you without your own verbal authorization. These programs really do work especially the Healthcare one. I don't know if this helps but i'm an employee so I just wanted to give you guys a heads up.
