- dblvisionI have a fax maching attached to my land line for work during the day. I leave the fax machine turned on in the evening for those "pesky" night time callers. If I don't recognize the number, I let the fax pick it up.
I'm thinking that when they get the buz of a fax machine they remove my number because I only get called from a particular number once or twice, then they stop. - plaidleyTo contact them: http://www.issans.net/contact/

- trinketboxFemale caller, called around 9:30PM on Thursday evening. Wanted to speak to my husband; told her he was not available [even though he was here, he won't talk on the phone]. I asked who was calling and she said she was with a survey company and when would he be returning?? I told her he'd probably come out of the bathroom once Obama was voted out of office. She said she'd call back then.

- RickyBoy| 2 repliesOk, let's set some things straight here.
The company calling is Issue and Answers. They are a private company with headquarters in Norfolk, VA. They have offices in Michigan, Indiana and Florida. They are not associated with any political party, but are their own independent, for profit company, that is contracted to do the surveys. (And yes, ONLY surveys.)
Because they are just doing surveys, they do not apply to the DO NOT CALL list. That only applies to telemarketers, those trying to sell you something. Therefore, if you ask them to take you off of their list, they cannot, due to the fact that they don't have a list. There are exceptions to this although. If they specifically ask for your name when they call, it is most likely a callback from a previous survey, or a paying survey. In this case, there will likely be a list that you can be removed from. All other poll/surveys are completely random numbers chosen in a given area, and there is no list. But, if you ask them to not call again, it should be marked down as an Initial Refusal disposition, and the system will not generate the number again. The only time a number will be called more than once is if you have requested a call back, or if your line was busy.
Another thing a lot of people have been complaining about is when they can call. They can call until 9:30 PM local time. Not 9:00 as it is commonly mistaken. I saw a post about getting called at 12:15 am. This is false. The call centers of Issues and Answers shutdown at 9:30 each night. And since they only do calls within the USA, that person's time zone would have had to be 3 hours ahead (Or behind) one of the offices, this could not exist given the locations of the offices.
One last thing to note.
The people making the calls are trying to make production and not get cut for the night. If they are cut, they may only make an hours worth of money that night. I know all of this information because I used to work there. I'm not saying that you should take the survey, but just be polite. We try to be polite as possibly, and let me tell you, when I've made 300 calls in a night, and 20 have actually picked up, and 5 have actually taken the survey, I really am pleased to talk to you, even if you're going to reject the call.
I hope this helped everyone understand this a little better. I am not here to defend the company, and I don't agree with all of their practices, but just lay it out for some of the misinformed. If you have any questions. Just ask me on here.
