I got a call from someone asking me to appear in a govt office

called me at 1:30 this morning and hung up.

Got a call at my work and the person was whispering and asking what I was doing..I just hung up. Says call came from Escondido, CA.

Some girl called here, and my dad answered it.

She demanded to speak to my dad's son (I'm an only child) and when my dad said he only has a daughter she then demanded to speak to my boyfriend (I'm single) because this was the number given to her, and she was looking for drugs.

Considering this call could have come from anywhere in Canada or America, I don't know who she is, if it was a real call or a prank one.  Either way, it's annoying.

Google must take responsibility for allowing this cover number to be used. 4 A.M phone calls are not welcome and especially to a cell phone number that is not listed. Google, take note. You're big but not immune.  If enough people make formal complaints about this particular "service", you will have to remove it. I for one am thoroughly disgusted that Google fosters the possibilities that a number like this engenders. Take heed.

4 A.M. phone calls are not welcome. They were prank calls, two of them, both hang-ups. My cell phone number is not listed, it is left on for family emergencies.  No more.  Google has to take responsibility for allowing this number to be used as a cover. Isn't it all too obvious that it would be used for ill and not for good?  What could Google possibly gain from this? I fail to understand its merrit. Google, take heed.  You're not too big to fail.

My husband called me from his cell phone, but the caller id had this #.

If you reverse search this number, it comes up with a name and address in California.  Interesting.

Yes, it is Google Voice. If you don't hear anything when somebody calls, don't be so upset. I've had the same thing happening to me when I tried to make a call -- and lots of other people on the Google boards reporting similar problems. Since this is a direct phone service, there's no way to test the settings. BUT I needed to dig deep into my audio settings and change something there in order for the person I called to hear me. I had no problem hearing them. So, be patient. It's an awesome service (and currently free in North America!) and much better quality than Skype. It just all needs to be set up correctly first.
