- BrittaniJust got a voicemail from a Ms. Woods, polite and professional.. saying she was calling to collect a debt, but couldn't even say my first name right. She never used my last name.. and said Britin.. I'm sorry, but Brittani and Britin don't even sound the same! Right, ok.. after reading these comments I don't believe I will be calling her back. I'm already working with someone to repair my credit. I don't need to pay these crooks too. And I've dealt with people like this before.. not gonna do it again after the hell they put me through.

- JenniferDo NOT give anyone your banking info over the phone. Even if you owe someone money, you have the right to demand proof of the debt and that these folks have the right to collect it.
Now....the next time one of these jerks calls, tell them you are recording the conversation. If they say no, say too bad, you call me, I record. Tell them to send you something in writing and then you will determine whether or not to speak with them...only NEVER speak with them unless you record the convo. Always, always, always conduct business with a collection agency via writing, never by phone.
They cannot threaten legal action unless they actually follow through. They cannot arrest you, they cannot send the sheriff, all of this requires a court order which cannot be granted without notifying you to appear before the court. Read up on the FDCPA. You have rights. You don't have to speak to them. If they are calling your job, send them a certified letter telling them to stop or you will enforce your rights under the FDCPA.
My advice....block them on your phone. Freeze your credit reports so no one can open new credit without your permission, don't give out banking or debit numbers because they will take out much, much more than you agree to and they will keep trying until you have money in your bank account. If you do have an old debt, it may be uncollectable after a number if years...depends on the state just how long they can take legal action to collect. That won't stop them from trying but in my state, a debt can no longer be put on a credit report or the debtor sued after a few years.

- LiI just received a call from this number 770-234-0101 at 5:06 pm. I didn't answer because I don't pick up for numbers I don't recognize. They did not leave a VM so I assumed it was a scammer calling my phone. Thanks for the site, now I know who calls me.
- Caller: idk
- Not a ChanceThese people are liars and thieves. No one has an obligation to give money to these people, much less talk to them. Once the debt makes it to them, it's already been written off. They are entitled to nothing. And they can fulfill none of the threats they toss around. Do not fear them or their lies. The best bet is to never communicate with them at all. Anyone who rightfully needs money from you will send you a letter. This is how real businesses conduct themselves. Set your ringer to the highest rings, and they won't leave a message either. If you have it available, use call block--yes there are many numbers, but you get the upper hand. Keep smiling, don't let these scumbags bring you down.

- Tonya replies to I know who they areThese people are calling my family members, ex boyfriend and I never provided them with his cellphone number. 😏😏😏
- Zane replies to Charlie PierceIt is not illegal to call during work hours. It is illegal to call past 8PM or before 9AM. People, including debt collectors work during the day, so this is the only time they can call.
- JennyCalled and would not say who he was
- Caller: Would not say
- SylvesterStop harassing me yall call nonstop!!!
- docbon89 replies to JayNot only should be illegal, it is. Familiarize yourself with the Federal Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA). Even if you were to have owed something to someone, these practices are illegal and therefore I will not deal with them. From an experience of my son's, I can also tell you that in some number of cases (unknown percentage), the debt is made up, not real. They get information on you in other ways and just try to scare you into sending them money. Don't do it. You are not going to get arrested, you are not going to have your driver's license revoked or a lien put against your property. If you want to report them, do it to your state's attorney general and the FTC.
- DebThis number keeps calling our home. They ask for people who do not live at our address in the message. Since we do not owe anyone any money that a debt collector would call about I have to assume this is a scam. We have had so many calls like this lately - threatening, asking for strange names - saying they are calling on behalf of a court or lawyer. Honestly think I should just get rid of my land line so this nonesense stops

- SammieGot a call from this number - (770) 234- 0101.. a guy left a message saying his name (Mr. Duboi?) and that he was with a debt collector agency. Said we are to call back but he never said who the call was for. We do not have any debt that would be with a collection agency so I won't bother worrying about it. It's a scam and I have no idea where they got our phone number!!
